>With appearances by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg, the world’s second-most valuable technology company lifted the curtain on a television and movie subscription service called Apple TV+ that will stream original television shows and movies.

>Apple left out key details such as pricing They are going to shit the bed by overpricing this. That's why no one is excited. With Apple you can usually count on them overplaying their hand. They've really only had one breakout product in decades, the iPhone, and they overplayed their hand with that too so sales are dropping. Investors have caught on that Apple is all smoke and mirrors, and their best salesman for their BS is dead.
The streaming service will be priced $15 or more and they will reveal limitations and restrictions quietly before launch. (They can't escape their Walled Garden philosophy)
Josiah Reyes
Shpeelbergstein thinks he's the grandfather of modern movies. He thinks he should be consulted on any mainstream entertainment concerning movies. When Netflix started making their own movies, using smaller directors, he got offended they didn't come ask his blessing to get into the movie business. He's also smart enough to know that home streaming is the future and theaters are dying out. So he resents streaming for being the the next thing and he wasn't the driver of it. But Apple being Job's company, and Jobs being involved with Lucasfilm, him and Spielberg were buddies. Apple also paid him a shitload of money to be on staff for this reveal. He's figured if he can't beat it, join it. But too little, too late. He joined the Apple Maps of streaming.
Asher White

>pushed sane mp3 pricing back when the labels wanted rape prices
Only because they knew people would prefer to just pirate it if the choice was between pirating it (and them getting nothing) or cheaper pricing (and them getting something). Pirating music was fucking huge when memepods started to become more common, it was literally at its height. By pure coincidence I was discussing something similar with a friend the other night and it's sort of like the Monty Hall Problem, but not really
>You have $5000 in a safe >Someone discovers this safe and steals $50 of your $5000 >Someone less of a scumbag would have taken zero >Someone more of a scumbag would take the whole $5000 >Would you be happy to let that $50 go or would you rather have another "shot" with some other random happening upon the safe? The outcome being you could lose nothing, the same $50, or the whole $5000
The reason it's like the Monty Hall Problem is purely because of the three choices with different stakes (I know that isn't the MHP, that's why I said the same but not really). He tried to argue that he would rather take another shot (in his words if he "lost the $50 again then so be it", but the 50/50 choice of the MHP doesn't quite work here, and not just because it's not a 50/50 choice, which is what he was confusing). Do you see his mistake? Even if the $50 were out and the choice was between nothing and $4950, making it a 50/50 chance (say if they took nothing you got the $50 put back or whatever to make it back up to $5000) it'll always be the wrong choice. What he was basically doing was wagering $4950 to win $50. It might make sense if it's something with next to no chance of losing. But it wasn't. It might as well have been a coin toss, because there's only two possible outcomes. You're better off losing a small amount and keeping the larger amount. Which is what Apple explained to the labels. You don't honestly think it was done for your benefit or any of us goys do you?
Colton King
Nah, iTunes was when they were hungry and trying to get people on board with them. Apple of 2019 is an entitled ego-driven bastard that will overprice the shit out of anything they can because they think people will pay extra for just the name. At one point they were correct in this assumption, but not anymore. Yeah, they'll get their dwindling army of zombies to sign up but they aren't innovators anymore. They show up to sell things someone else innovated at a higher price. Look at their iPhone sales starting to crash. People are snapping out of the Apple meme.
Except for the still unnamed Ron D. Moore's show - nothing really interests me on their service.
Chase Collins

That dude is so past his prime it's not even funny. His peak was late 70s-mid 90s. It's almost a shame he spent most of the 80s just producing shit, even though most of it was classic (Back to the Future, Gremlins, Roger Rabbit, etc).

There is zero reason to pay for these shitty services when everything gets uploaded minutes after. Also even shittiest streaming sites have 1080p streams (4k is a meme for fucking Netflix shows where they stand in two rooms for 2 hours).
Alexander Fisher
lmao, like most of you stated here... what the hell are they thinking? TV+, NEWS+, ARCADE BULLSHIT, also your typical millenial has netflix, hulu, amazon prime, spotify, ps plus on top of your carrier, internet, water, electricity, loan, rent, insurance...? And most aren't making enough to cover all that shit up and to still have something saved. Yet they will get everything new with a monthly plan
Honestly, kikeflix is the only thing I have and it's because they have a decent selection of older titles. But these new agenta pushing shows and films are starting to be a deal breaker. But since it's cheap... eh... Only things that bugs me is that I'm feeding the beast. Also, 4K on netflix is shit.
Anthony Harris
Americans love subscriptions. Tell them something is $120 and they will think its too expensive. Tell them its a $9.99 monthly subscription they will cave.
the amount of streaming services is getting ridiculous. soon you'll be spending 70 + a month just to stream shows because the content you want is fragmented between so many different providers. streaming may have caused a huge decline in piracy, but you'll soon see a resurgence.
Netflix has the global audience though. They have been everywhere for years. Hell Netflix is one of the few American media companies that understand there is a world beyond the West Coast.
Gavin Edwards
this. And if they make all their content the same worldwide (which might be the plan), they will run all other streaming services to the ground.

do you give a shit? if there's anything worth watching you'll just pirate it anyway no one pays for more than two streaming services. Those two usually being Netflix and Amazon only because it comes with so much other shit.

Amazon literally gives their video streaming away with Prime. Cheating.
Chase Martinez

Gabriel Myers
This is what I'm wondering as well. They have literally nothing right now. Apparently they're going for exclusive, self produced content so they need to pay tremendous sums of money and time to produce even a small catalogue of content. Why would anyone on their right mind change from HBO or Netflix with thousands of items to Apple that has about a dozen things to watch?
It all sounds so retarded. It requires such a massive investment to enter the market and you need to keep investing to keep the consumer happy, and also you'll need a gigantic investment from the get go to even gain any customers. How is this a viable business idea in any way whatsoever?
Jayden Lopez

People dont subscribe to every one at the same time do they? You cant possibly watch all of it even if youre a neet so its reasonable to rotate and get a month of Netflix, then HBO, then Amazon etc. Thats what I would do if I had to have streaming subscription at all times.
Cooper Morales
Disney will be the top dog
Netflix and Amazon will fight for the 2nd spot, one of them might eventually drop down to the third category
Then it's a power gap before small time players like Apple, WB/DC and others

Amazon has every new movie and every show. What does Netflix have? The same? Someone educate me. While HBO GO has exclusive rights for some time, their only worthwhile behemoth (Game of Thrones) is on Prime eventually.
So who actually has more than Amazon?
Ryan Phillips
Disney doesnt have the balls for more edgy and niche shit, the same way Amazon and HBO do. Disney cant produce capeshit and toddler shows forever.
Brandon Lopez
Game of Thrones isn't on Prime, though. Unless you mean paying for it separately.
Hunter Reed
So were talking streaming subscriptions here? Because then of course it isnt included, by why would i pay HBO when i can buy it on Prime eventually? Thats the thing here. Every Disney movie will still be on Amazon. And people wont jump ship, because of one shitty Star Wars show.

Once Disney gets the TV rights for the OT back from TNT they will put all of the movies on their signature streaming platform. It will be the only place to watch those movies. People will subscribe in order to watch all of the SW movies in a single place. Netflix is the current stop gap for SW movies until then.

You're still paying for an extra subscription to HBO on Prime. It's like instead of mailing a flyer back to HBO to subscribe you did it through your cable company instead. HBO is still making subscription money off of it, GO seems to be used mostly by people who already have an HBO package through cable/satellite
God damn the site is fucking tedious to find info on. There seems to be very little info on what items can be watched outside the US if any, and eligibility to student prices is hidden somewhere in the clusterfuck of a site.
