How accurate is this movie?

Did Gen X teenagers in the late 90s and early 2000s America really live like this?

Of course not. If you can't tell that pop culture is a parody of real life then your retarted.

Yes.

>lates 90s and early 2000s
>Gen X

t. going on 2 decades of inceldom

More or less yes. It wasn't as sensational and obnoxious as the movie though.

You're talking about a time when being smart or using a computer FOR ANYTHING made you a nerd.

It made every young guy extremely urgent about losing their virginity by graduation

>claiming a comedy movie full of sex jokes isn't realistic makes you an incel

Attached: 1546062358073.jpg (226x223, 6K)

What's not incel?

This movie was for early millennials, not Gen X. And yes, I enjoyed it a lot. Class of 2000 reporting in.

Communism, of course.

It is realistic. You'd know if you'd been alive and not in your basement.

American Pie is easily the most realistic high school movie from that era. Only Europeans think it’s outlandish.

Ahh yes the command economy that feeds a total of 20 people. That's the ticket.

Yet here you are :)

Well, kinda. Basically, if given the opportunity. Never fucked a pie myself, but I'd wager I know someone who did.

t. same graduating class (1999) as movie characters

Attached: tvwww34.jpg (125x99, 3K)

It's literally dangerous and irresponsible to keep meming that American Pie was an accurate representation of life. It wasn't.

A lot of people on this board are impressionable losers born after the year 2000. Your shitposts about unrealistic expectations are going to create another Elliot Roger.

It's pretty accurate for anyone who was lucky enough to graduate high school before the world started to go to complete shit (on 9/11).

yep ...i remember my brother calling me a nerd for playing on the computer

class of 04

Fair but only kind of accurate. I grew up in a nearly all white suburb and big high school that was fairly close to what was depicted in the movie. I agree that if you graduated high school after 2005 or so you didn’t get that same experience. I graduated in 2000 so I was right in that sweet spot.

wrong

Almost everyone in the was born between 74 and 80, which makes them late Gen X by definition.

It's not a movie for millenials. It's a movie about gen x set in early millenial high school and it's wildly inaccurate. Kids were losing their virginity by 14 during my school years, and sex was so mundane by the time you were 18 that getting high and playing Halo was 10x more interesting than hooking up with some chick who had fucked two of your friends already. The only kids who weren't getting laid were proto anons, geeks playing dnd 3e and cybering with ugly fat girls and Guy In Real Life on msn messenger and yahoo chatrooms.

Besides the webcam incident American Pie could easily take place in 1982 because that's when the guy who wrote it was in high school. It doesn't represent 2000 accurately at all.

Yeah, the actors but not the characters in the movie, you absolute retard.

>Halo

The first American Pie came out in 1999. Nice fucking try though.

People were not camming with each other in 1982 what in the fuck is this post

yeah i remember 9/11 happening while in highschool and everyone was all gong ho about torturing people for intel.. If it wasnt for Denzel in The Siege, I would have agreed. Def remember being the only person in my criminal justice class arguing against torture and quoting the movie...

You asked the same damn question last week. Damn Yea Forums has turned to shit these last few years

You need to stop browsing Yea Forums bro. This board reposts the same threads every two hours.

Fuck that, a lot of these Marxist traitors should be rounded up shipped to a black site for some re-education training.

So I am seeing. Decided to give Yea Forums a rest with all of the rate my dick and trap threads. This board is just as bad now

Mehhh you're right and wrong. A bit all over the place.

They were early Millennials. On the cusp, yes, but they definitely weren't gen-Xers. Some of the actors were gen x, yes, but not their characters.

this is the shit im talking about... people want to bend /break their morals and constitution but dont realize we are losing who we are as country

They are destroying this country from within. They have no morals, worship their egos, worship a big brother style government. Rob from those to take care of lazy and self-entitled. The destruction of the family. The feminization of men. Open borders. Bro, we are already lost. Socialism has run amok

Ah well it was a nice American Pie thread while it lasted. Here we go.

Nadia gave me the best hardons. See we can take it back

This post isn’t even relevant anyway. American Pie is a time capsule glimpse of American high school life prior to 9/11.

Two year difference. Absolutely huge. You're right though teenaged boys weren't already heavily addicted to video games in 1999, PlayStation and n64 were obscure nerd gizmos and games like FF7 and Super Smash Bros sold barely 10,000 copies.
Of fucking course people weren't webcamming in 1982. I'm saying the guy who wrote the screen play wrote the teenagers like they were straight out of 1982. Attitudes about sex changed rapidly between 1990 and 2000 kids got stupid about it and started fucking earlier and almost every junior high/high school had a teenaged pregnancy, high school wasnt some carefree jocks and geeks land the social lines were blurring because of shit like video games becoming mainstream and the birth of the internet and widespread drug use and the goofy feel good vibes of the 1980s and early 1990s being eradicated by gen x nihilism, and the real world had come roaring in with the collapse of the soviet union and the ethnic wars that followed and closer to home shit like columbine and bill clinton getting his dick sucked in the oval office.

The guy who wrote these movies wrote them using his experience from growing up in the 1980s and 1970s. They're not representative of real life as a teenager in 1999 at all. If the movie was true to life Jim would've spent most of his free time playing Tony Hawk 2 and feebly trying to learn how to ollie, Finch would've been a proto-emo playing bass and listening to then obscure bands like AFI, Oz would've been a stoner jock, that Kevin guy would be a wigger, and the four of them hanging out would've consisted of watching CKY and getting high in Finchs basement ans playing mario kart, and odds are all of them minus Jim would've long lost their virginity.

I remember being called a nerd for using the internet.

>Two year difference. Absolutely huge.

I wasn’t referring to video games so much as pre and post 9/11. That had a massive impact on American culture. Consider this: when American Pie came out in July 1999, the Columbine massacre had happened only a few months prior and it was a shocking national tragedy.

teenagers in the late 90s and early 00s were millenials
millennial generation starts in 1981

>I will never be able to provide my children a childhood similar to what I experienced the pre-social media era
FUCK

Attached: Scott.gif (210x155, 1.7M)

>que in a horde of millennials seething because autism started with them

If you're born in 1980 you'd be 17 in '97, so gen x, late nineties teenager, you literal retard

For me, it's Mr. Naan

I think the early parties are a bit overkill, but unironically that first film is not that far off. They are all virgins in their senior year of high school, and the only one that has "unrealistic" sex is that hipster dweeb fucking stiff's mom. Nadia stuff is also totally exaggerated, but not completely untrue (we had german exchange at my school, and something degenerate would always happen when they came over. Not to me every, but something would always happen). That being said, the second film is absurd, considering the house they have on Lake Michigan during freshman-summer.

good point concerning 9/11 and columbine

85% of commies are men and 10% are trannies

Gen X is people who came of age in the 80s and early 90s.

Nah. Gen X is generally thought of as people born in the 70s that were in their 20s in the 90s.

oh no no no no no
oz a stoner jock... negative... we used to make fun of the stoners and burn outs ... finch being proto-emo? wrong... there was no emo, only goths ... and you would be laughed out of existence with your trench coat... you obviously did not attend highschool in late 90s early 2000s

Attached: 1312865335295.jpg (470x570, 183K)

wrong

All the things you wrote about being "late 90s highschool" were middle school activities during that era. I had a older brother in high school late 90s, while I was ~10: there was a big difference in the stuff we did, what we wore, and what we consumed. I think you are way off.

I was in a frat in the mid 2000s and yes, this was exactly what life was like, except slightly less extravagant

Dude, everything you’re describing here would be 2000 to 2002. Again, American Pie was released in 1999. There was a significant difference believe it or not.

every highschool guy i knew was itching to have sex... and only a few dudes in highschool actually had sex (those with long term GFs)... The movie legit made it so that you would be considered a loser if you graduated highschool a virgin ... also... playing markio kart wasnt a thing until the late 2000's no one played mario kart...

Attached: 2jd0ro61.jpg (180x212, 11K)

>being in a frat is the exact same as high school

Was it the special ed frat?

>Gen X teenagers
>early 2000s

Attached: 1395977438460.png (403x293, 102K)

I agree with everything you said except for the Mario Kart bit. Mario Kart 64 was released in 1997 and was popular with all my high school friends.

God damn what the fuck happened to teenage kino? What was the last good one? Superbad in 2006?

i entered high school right when that movie came out... ps2/xbox and gamecube were the systems... the games we played were madden on the ps2 and halo was on the xbox.... halo was huge and everyone played it ... i remember "gamers" making fun of halo players ....because it was "shit"... dont ever remember anyone really busting out the n64 and trying to play mario kart

Gen X here, can confirm. I was too old for American Pie. It was one of those flicks that made me realise I was getting too old for this shit.
Also remember you're here forever

My high school friends and I spent about 33% of our time figuring out how to get alcohol for the night, 33% of the time figuring out where to drink it, 33% of the time actually getting hammered, and yes, that last 1% of the time fleeing from the cops or getting arrested

Let’s cover this one more time. The original American Pie came out in 1999. You’re thinking of the second one.

Am 30 year old boomer, fucked apple pie, can confirm

yeah if you were in highschool playing mario kart ... you were a bonafide loser ....

If you’re really 30 you were only 10 when American Pie came out.

/thread

Nintendo 64 was a current gen console in 1999, you dummy. Mario Kart 64 came out in 1997 when I was 14. Of course it was a popular multiplayer game. Halo dude bro culture didn’t even exist yet.

man that tumbnail had we goin LOL

It's a movie, so it's how they wished they could live. Same as every movie.

American Pie is pretty grounded in reality compared to what other high school movies from the late 90s depicted. Like nothing about Stifler’s house parties were ridiculous. Probably the most unrealistic part was Nadia.

t. mdma millenial

Wrong ... because the dreamcast was released in like in 98 and blew the shit out of the 64 and psx...
64 wasnt relevant once the ps2 came out ... and being at that age, you wouldnt be playing childish games like mario kart... hence you were in middle school and too young to want to bang chicks...

It's a documentary

I know what you're talking about, AP was more trying to catch the feeling of high school in the 90's. They might go down as the last normal people that ever lived, the subculture obsession with becoming king edgelord has taken everything over and shows no signs of stopping.

I graduated in 2001 from a mostly white upper class public high school. I cannot remember hearing one rumor or story about any guy or gal losing their virginity ot having sex, or even a particular story about a particular person doing drugs. which means two things:

It was not happening very often

And when it did they either did not talk about it or the rumors were only with a very small circle of people

Attached: 1550554913499.jpg (650x893, 228K)

Dreamcast was released in 1998 in Japan, September 1999 in North America. PS2 wasn’t released until fall of 2000 in NA. Your concept of release dates is way off, bro.

I graduated high school in spring of 2000 btw. The Dreamcast came out at the beginning of my senior year of high school. Up until then the PS1 and N64 were the most popular current consoles. I’m guessing you graduated high school in 2005 or 2006.

this.....i grew up in suburb where it was white ... middle to upper class and there was no teen pregnancy ... the only people having sex, were people in long term relationships... people did not try to lie about having sex, because you had to have proof you banged... having sex in HS was the biggest thing... and funny it was actually easier to get weed than alcohol ....

Nope, I’m right lol. Knew I was all along.

The 90s/early 00s were generally a pretentious era of gigantic arsehole that pretended everything is perfect in the world and if you are not perfect yourself, something is wrong with YOU, not the world.

My sense is the problem arose because of the "millennium" lunacy, meaning everything should be perfect by year 2000 for some stupid reason, it probably made 9/11 such a big impact as well.

PS. It's also the same reason that made neonazis have a revival for the last 10 years. They are also totally stupid of course, the other extreme on steroids so we need back some balance.
