I watched ep 1 and 3 (2 was too cringe reddit humour) and they were both edgiest shit I've ever seen devoid of any soul. Which eps are not edgy and actually good?

Like the Secret War, it takes a good concept, animates it beautifully, and doesn't fuck up. Sonnie and Zima are more interesting, but the execution is poor, and the writing suffers sometimes. Aquila is A because it combines both those aspects. B tier is solid without any standout moments, C is mediocre but passable, D is awful and irredeemable. There should probably be another tier in between C and D, but the template didn't have one.

Meant to say Aquila is S, obviously.

I don't think the tone of this show is for me. I like animated works but this so pretentious, all style no substance. Netflix thinks they can replace entire storylines with ""toxic masculinity"" and rape-revenge and not actually flesh out any characters.

Suit yourself. Even for all its flaws, it's the first watchable show in years.

Not that the OA is a soap, but soaps are a legitimate form of television and have been very important in how modern long form television is created and watched. There could be no GoT or BB without early soaps like Dallas.

I liked s1 of GoT but nothing much since, especially when it added supernatural elements, that really killed it for me. I've never understood or really enjoyed BB but I clearly saw the impact it had on the general public and how other major networks started to change the type of programs they made to cater for this kind of audience. I'd say my favourite long form program is The West Wing (also inspired by soaps). I dunno I just think it's interesting to see how past popular television formats influence current ones.

First of all, I can't understand what you're defending, or how it relates to the discussion. Second of all, anthologies are completely different than soaps. It's not something you can compare, at least in the way you are attempting to.
