How would that be possible considering Kong will easily beat Godzilla and kill him?
Cooper Sullivan
I'm binging the entire Godzilla anime trilogy. All for the first time. I hope it won't be too painful. Man, what a waste to decide to subvert expectations in an animated movie where you can do pretty much whatever you want.
There are at least three good series including Rulers of Earth that was basically the last "ongoing". The rest were mostly forgettable at best but anything done by Stokoe is a must read.
Nathaniel Evans
Beyond hyped! Goddammit, I can’t believe it’s still more than a month away.
I'm the only one who feels Legendary got the Cinematic Universe approach right? And i actually enojyed some of the humans from Godzilla 2014(Serizawa is great) and Kong did them right but none from that one are returning. I hope Ken Watanabe is in Godzilla vs Kong too and his character retires after the battle at a farm or something. Love him.
Cameron Hall
I think that technically one human character is returning from Kong. I’ve heard that asked-as-fuck Tywin Lannister is playing Tom Hiddleston’s character.
Everybody's saying that now after they revealed that they're taking it one step at a time. So first the Godzilla-Kong crossover then we'll see. Much better than Universal horror and until recently DCEU.
Justin Phillips
Oh, cool I recognized Light Yagami in the anime movie. It's probably one of the last cool thing about these movie but I hope not.
So now that we've established we will have a new Godzilla movie literally every single fucking year of our lives until merciful god ends this shitstain of a species, how long before Disney acquires exclusive rights to the franchise?
Angel Collins
Toho didn't sell Godzilla even when they were having financial problems in the 2000s I can't imagine them ever selling the brand completely. It's a unique situation but perhaps it's the same with Super Sentai/Power Rangers.
Logan Garcia
Why would Disney even want Godzilla? So they could make Avengers VS Godzilla?
godzilla is for the shit the avengers can't handle
Dominic Johnson
So... Disney itself?
Lucas Reyes
Kong trilogy after GvsK? I feel there's more left to explore of Skull Island, also anyone remember the king kong cartoon?
Brody Lee
Looks like someone who saw the early screenings made a few sketches of some of the Titans.
Jace Ramirez
>Monsterverse might continue of KotM and GvsK make money Go and watch them!!!! I'm gonna watch it with my gf and many different family memebers. Anyone else?
I mean... we already saw Burning Godzilla in the trailer, so no.
Gavin Reed
>/GGG/ - Godzilla Gang General >Not /KKK/ - Kaiju Kino Kollaborative
David Gonzalez
Godzilla is the God of Kaiju though even that.... >tfw nobody remember the beast from 20000 fanthoms film which inspired the creation of Godzilla and is owned by WB with the classic kaiju film Them! Oh...
Henry Jackson
The Desert Titan IS indeed a spider, but obviously not Kumonga.
But it's one of the most remembered. And for a good reason. It's just that there aren't enough fans of these movies compared to some other fandoms. But it's more probably more popular than ever or at least since the inception of modern fandoms. And Rhedosaurus should have a cameo.
When and where has Toho commented on extending the deal?
Oliver Rodriguez
Do more spin offs. Rodan would be nice. Do remakes of Them! The beast from 20000 fanthoms, etc.
Josiah Sanchez
Nice poster. Too bad about the movie itself.
Lucas Parker
It's ok. I'm still not sure about introducting so many new monsters in one movie but maybe we'll see more of them in the next movie to know them better.
Jeremiah Sullivan
Did you read the Op? In an interview it says that the Monsterverse producer could extend the deal with Toho if these american films make money.
More Kong films, there's no way Big G or Kong die in 2020.It will end up as a team up film.
And the third and final one the witness did. Which is basically like a Mammoth Kong, and will be in Siberia, which isn't a big spoiler to know that'll ruin any fun when watching the film.
The spoilers pretty much confirmed that the next big bad is Destoroyah
Hunter Brooks
Ah shit, forgot to click the Spoiler option.
Logan Murphy
A small problem with continuing the franchise is that besides the introductory movies each one seems very final and world-changing. It means it can't go on forever and monster of the week movies may not be as successful. I have same worries about the plans that Toho has with a cinematic universe like in the good old days. What is their plan so this series doesn't end like the previous ones with loss of interest and abysmal box office results. If Legendary has three more movies left in them after Godzilla vs. Kong I'll be happy.
Sebastian Robinson
RAMPAGE CROSSOVER
Logan Cox
This. I think when they had the 2020 deadline, they wound up blowing their wad with KotM and GvK. Other than Destoroyah which is set up in this KotM I don't see where they go from there.
Jason Bennett
IS COLLOSAL(2016) KAIJU KINO?
Jeremiah Cook
Still watching the anime and shitposting here. It's like poor man's Mass Effects with weak characters that's not the worst thing ever even by Toho standards but it's certainly a shame. If anything it was anime that begged for a more traditional Godzilla movie with many ties to the mythology, lots of monsters and all that without fears of going overbudget.
Colton Perez
How many Godzilla films are dubbed in english and is the dub good quality?
Alexander Long
I warned you about anime, bro.
Gavin Clark
WHO WILL KNOW
John Wood
All and the dub isn't the biggest problem. It's ok if there are not changes to the cut. Then we can only worry about mistranslations and bad voice acting (sometimes and in last movies this one done intentionally as a "homage"). It's worse when they are making changes to the movie by removing the score and entire scenes. Watching originals is just safer especially older movies.
Elijah Gutierrez
>Still watching the anime and shitposting here. I wouldn't recommend this desu, you should give the anime your full attention to appreciate it. What it lacks in monster fighting action it makes up for in interesting character motivations and philosophical quandaries
Logan Bailey
Does KG get burned from making the mistake of touching Rodan with their heads and feet?
Brayden Hall
Which movie are you on? The first one is the weakest. By the way, there are plenty of references to Godzilla mythology. You have to enjoy it for its philosophy and story. Basically, pay close attention to the dialogue.
Parker Ross
I'm used to it. I have a giant list of all movies that I've never watched and that could be interesting and I'm paste the list to the online random picker and watch whatever it picks. It's a better system than choosing the movie myself. I decided to break this rule today as I happen to have a day off. Sadly I always do more things at once but I learned to pay attention somewhat. If I don't then the movie isn't very good. Under the Silver Lake was a chore but The End of the Tour was a pleasant surprise.
I don't recommend this system it's only for those who don't have much free time.
Henry Walker
I'm an hour through the first one. It was cool to see Dogora and the rest. As for our squad of ultimate badasses I think even The Spirits Within did a better job of having a good set of characters.
Landon Turner
The expedition through the jungle kind of reminds me of Mothra 1961.
Isaiah Torres
The characters are developed in the second movie. The first movie is only good for the setup that you get in the first half hour. You could honestly skip from that to the second movie and would come out a lot better for it.
Luis Flores
At least we know there's still only one successful Godzilla anime. Or two in this case but essentially one big story.
2014 did not do all that well and Hollywood adaptations of Japanese properties are not very popular over there. I'm curious to see how KOTM will be received.
John Wilson
Imagining people on horseback shooting arrows at that fucking unit and expecting to do anything is hilarious to me for some reason, and every time i see this image I feel it all over again.
Xavier Hughes
2014 did pretty decent in Japan, it made just shy of $30 million and most Japanese critics enjoyed it, though some had reservations about how it didn't really tackle the nuclear message that 1954 did
>Japanese critics and journalists have praised the film for putting "more of an effort to honor the spirit and visual style of the Japanese series" but criticized the film for "complicating the anti-war, anti-nuclear sensibility" and "lack of nerve on the part of the filmmakers to say anything substantial about nuclear weapons or nuclear energy", however, Godzilla illustrator Yuji Kaida called the film "a real kaijū eiga (monster movie) that honored the original in that Godzilla was presented as a force beyond human understanding that maintained the Earth’s natural balance".
Asher Hughes
Funny because many Godzilla historians say that Shin Godzilla betrayed Honda's original pacifistic vision. For some reason. It's a pretty stupid thing to say.
Hudson Fisher
>it made just shy of $30 million Translate that to tickets. It did Millennium series business and the Millennium series was a notoriously bad time for Godzilla. For the first movie after a long absence, those are bad numbers.
Lucas James
Considering it was the 11th highest grossing movie of the year in Japan, that's not bad at all.
Levi Baker
That was a first Godzilla movie after a long absence no one was sure if it will be any good. Now after several more movies including Japanese KotM should do much better. I noticed there is considerable hype among Japanese on social media but I don't know what they're saying. They seem excited though.
Jacob Cooper
That moth girl seems pretty cute. I heard the main character doesn't give her the D how is that possible?
Thomas Anderson
Fuck no
Luis Lee
That's still a very mild response. You think there would be greater interest in the revival of dormant series. Besides the previously mentioned Millennium series (which is an outlier because the market was over-saturated with kaiju films), that is how things normally went. Regardless, I'm sure Toho was happy with it since the only expense on their end was promotion.
All the japanese godzilla films are fucking garbage.
Aaron Watson
>That's still a very mild response. Not really? 11th highest grossing for the whole year is a very good response.
>You think there would be greater interest in the revival of dormant series Dude, the film made $30 million. And there hadn't been any in 10 years and the last ones that were coming out had been poorly received and the previous american attempt was poorly received. $30 million is more than decent for a new american Godzilla film.
And worldwide the film made over $500 million and overall was the 14th highest grossing of the year worldwide. It was more than enough for Toho to go "Godzilla is still viable in today's market". KOTM just needs to prove that it is sustainable.
Is TREMORS a kaiju film? Favorite non godzilla kaiju film?
Henry Reyes
user, look at where 2014 falls on pic related. Also, only making $529 million worldwide after its strong domestic opening weekend suggests mixed word of mouth. It did okay.
I think Biollante or Space Godzilla are incoming. Mecha Godzilla is also likely. We're going to get a movie where Godzilla essentially has to fight a double, that much is guaranteed.
Personally I'm pulling for Gigan.
Andrew Watson
>Also, only making $529 million worldwide after its strong domestic opening weekend suggests mixed word of mouth. It did okay. >a GODZILLA film making half a billion dollars is "mixed word of mouth"
what world do you live in user
Landon Long
I feel like Showa Mecha-Godzilla gets a lot less love than Heisei or Kiryu. But look at him! That design is awesome! And it's head comes off!
>Godzilla vs the Sea Monster that high What the fuck
Bentley James
Godzilla 1998 was supposed to be the highest-grossing film of its time. That was until it got universally awful reviews. But it still managed to be profitable. Godzilla is a property with potential. Hollywood has not properly tapped into it yet.
Grayson Evans
The original '98 version by De Bont would've been the definitive version of Godzilla.
Leo Bennett
It was still the 60s. But the time was changings, Tsuburaya released first Ultraman show that year. It slowly became competition that Toho could not beat and conceded in 1975.
Jason Scott
WE OPENED PANDORA'S BOX!
Camden Gonzalez
I like this design more than 2014 tbqh. It's like a modern version of a early Showa design.
Neither is perfect but KotM Godzilla looks really good in some shots especially when it's not the entire silhouette. I still prefer Godzilla as a really cool looking dragon-dinosaur. More slender frame may not be the most scientifically accurate but it's pretty.
Oliver Martin
what does /GGG/ think about the deforeal godzilla figures
