I stopped watching this show, so I might be talking out of my ass but 2 things.

Enid dying doesn't really matter, since she barley does anything. Maybe in the last season she's been doing stuff but I fucking doubt it was enough to redeem a character that's just been there for no reason.

Tara is a fucking retard. She's been useless from the beginning and has a comedic tone to her character that really doesn't fit the story well. I've wanted her to die forever but they choose to kill her off in a pivotal scene? She doesn't deserve to be on those pikes.

Henry. From what i know, Henry was becoming the new Carl. He's been fucking Lydia or some shit, So why the fuck would they kill him off so soon? I've also heard that a lot of people have been disliking his character so ending him off seems like such a bitch move. "no one likes henry, lets just kill him off so no one actually important has to die"

This show was on a steady decline ever since Rick's rapist buddy was killed. I stopped watching before Negan even arrived because the plot was pretty much

It relied too much on characters dying to make the "plot" interesting, because truth is seeing people kill zombies isn't that much fun. There just wasn't a good deal of interaction between the characters, not of the entertaining kind at least. And like said, because characters are killed based on contracts as opposed to because the plot demands it, you end up with fairly half-assed deaths that most likely rely on shock value as opposed to them being genuinely emotional.

Then there was the problem of characters behaving like retards, but it comes with the genre I guess. I remember desperately wanting kid Carl to die after his idiocy got another character killed early in the show.

To add to this: I do believe the first two seasons where the best, but most importantly Shane was EASILY the best thing about the first two seasons. It was this character you knew was going to go crazy sooner or later, but just didn't know when.

Bottom line is: 9 fucking seasons? That's the problem with shows that are improvised.

It's TWD, they have a death quota that needs to be met every season. Characters exist solely to die. The plot will never resolve itself. There is no endgame aside from the vague, ever-elusive goal of "survival." And that's not something you can obtain since characters in this show are born to die in a way that will hopefully make you want to watch more of the same schlock. They just need to keep characters alive for the sake of consistency and moving the "plot" forward, everyone else can just die.

I don't understand Henry's arc at all. I thought he was taking the place of Carl and they built up the storyline for that but now it feels like they wasted a considerable amount of time. Enid too, she could have been the next Maggie. She's been in more seasons that most of the current cast now and have enough people invested in her to build her up like Carol, Daryl, and Michonne.

Let me break down the shitty writing for all of you trying to defend this, as there's several inconsistencies.

1) Alpha confronts Lydia at the movie, at night. They talk outside; Alpha fucks off.

2) It's seen before the reveal of Henry's death that Lydia confronted the King on the stage, behind the screening of the movie immediately after this- it's still night.

3) Prior to this, you have flashes to people, during the day, asking where people are- "have you seen x and x, they said they'd meet me here?"

This means

a) they were kidnapped earlier in the day, before the movie- in broad daylight- before Alpha revealed herself because everyone would immediately know whisperers are among them.
~a) this is a contradiction, as we see the characters throughout the day before the movie

b) they're kidnapped at night, Lydia tells the King, and for whatever reason nothing is done and the next day people start wondering where people went
~b) also a contradiction, as "x and x were supposed to meet me here"

Either way, this was pretty retarded. They're either kidnapped during the fair in broad daylight, or at night and no one does anything about it after being told they were infiltrated.
