could Captain Marvel win a fight against Godzilla?

Epic as fuck

Nah. Not saying Godzilla would win, because of the speed, but Cap Marvel couldn't harm Goji

There's also 4 different Chinese posters

ATOMIC FOOT FUNGUS

Yeah but Captain Marvel is this tiny as fuck target who can fly and is fast as fuck. If he gets a hit it's over. But loike I said, I doubt she can do anything to harm Godzilla

I watched Skull Island tonight ‘cause it was pretty forgettable the first time I saw it. It has some saving graces but the story/script and humor are terrible. I also really didn’t care much for Godzilla 2014, so I’m cautiously excited, but skeptical.
The Silicon Valley guy’s scenes look terrible.

How many cancelled godzilla films are out there?

I’m pretty sure Godzilla is canonically unkillable. They won’t say it in so many words, but he’s basically the embodiment of disaster. Like if you blew up the entire planet Godzilla would just go to sleep and float thru space for eons until some alien race discovered him and brought him to their planet to research him at which point he’d fuck them up and go back to sleep.

How would the world be like if GODZILLA WAS REAL?

That looks fucking great!

1983 actually
Aparently there was a godzilla vs batman movie in the works? Wtf?

No.

Still better than the Emmerich one,I will never forgive Sony for not letting De Bont direct it.

i fucken love this fan poster, lads

Attached: godzilla fanposter.jpg (640x960, 87K)

Of course! It's the movie release of 2019 I anticipate the absolute most.

Based

Everyone else is excited about Endgame, but I'm just sitting here waiting for May. Between John Wick Chapter 3 and Godzilla, it's gonna be a good month for movies.

I'm a Kaiju fan myself but I'm pretty sure its going to be shit all the dialogue has been corny and its going to be like Aquaman, one big CGI mess where you can't see anything and everything's a mess

Say what you want about Aquaman, but it had pretty good visuals where it was pretty clear what the hell was going on.

>Aparently there was a godzilla vs batman movie in the works? Wtf?
In the 60's/70's, yeah. It would have been the campiest shit ever, but part of me thinks that's what would have made it amazing.

What's the deal with the Tohokingdom forums? Always see screencaps from it

All Godzilla/kaiju movies have a level of corniness, the plot is usually an excuse to justify the monster action, which I feel the 2014 movie didn’t have enough. Being CGI I am concerned, but I’ll be happy if the masses like it as much as they liked the 2014 Godzilla I’ll be happy

desu, I quite prefer German Goo Girls.

How would Yea Forums do a Godzilla movie? Remake of '54? Original story? Re-imagining? New concept? Trilogy? Story? Cast?

Will Godzilla have any threat on 31 may-june?

It would have been better than '98 and probably have a special place in all our hearts but as a film it would have been kind of eh. It tries to be a Cold War spy thriller and a family film and a kaiju film (with extra gore here and there) all at once but doesn't quite succeed at all those things.
IIRC after the project was shelved Dekker was thinking of converting the project into a Monster Squad sequel, with the Monster Squad having to fight off/befriend a giant Godzilla-like sea monster after one of their fathers (an air force pilot) inadvertently lures it to land, but that didn't pan out either
Would have at least been cheesy '80s fun though

Realize the original plot of Godzilla: Save the Earth.

The cancelled film with Gryphon as main villain would've been kino but sony cancelled it because of the 130 million budget request(they ended up on that same budget with Emmerich). Fuck this gay Earth.

Are the netflix goji films good? Worth a watch?

Believe me, I know
The de Bont film would have been 90s kino of the highest order, but Sony fagged out

The SFX scenes probably would have been nice if Bill Stout’s storyboards are anything to go by
Ready Player One was absolute basedcore garbage but I thought it was interesting that they based a scene off the Miner/Decker script (pic related, lower right corner)

How damn big is that flying shit? Is the wingspan a kilometer or something?

If it looks like anime trash and sounds like anime trash, it's absolutely anime trash. On top of that, MECHAGODZILLA IS A FUCKING CITY

Big enough to cause hurricanes at least

I usually don't watch that sort of thing because they're almost always cringy bullshit
But fuck if that wasn't humorous. Funnier than it had any right to be, and some of the jokes were actually quite good. Animating the Toho logo towards the end stood out as a particularly genius bit

Watch them by yourself and draw your own opinions
Personally I didn't care much for them, though I did like eldritch horror Ghidorah

The Shin Godzilla song is a fucking masterpiece.

Which one? Or just the soundtrack in general?

the 54 version but then in the year 450

They’re one of the last standing of the bunch of Godzilla forums/fansites that sprung up in the late 90s-early 2000s (Rodan’s Roost, KaijuPhile, etc.)
The main site is fairly informative if a tad autistic about the Godzilla series as well as many other Toho productions (being a Toho fansite and not just a Godzilla one), though it probably needs updating here and there
The forums are infested with autists and children though and most everyone hates them

Who will know

How do you make Godzilla more appealing to an international market?

And why does Toho suck at this?

Attached: 1553363792226.png (1024x544, 646K)

Better CGI and more white people is literally all it takes. Look at the Great Wall movie. Stupid chink movie that made 350 million just by casting Matt Damon

Is it good? Why not cast black people as leads?

Nah, Great Wall was ass

Have him fight kaiju based on the national animals of major countries

A movie about an ancient kaiju ecosystem could be cool, with no dialogue or anything like that. Something like Age of Reptiles or the original concept for Disney’s Dinosaur (no talking or narration, just the life of a Styracosaur and a Tyrannosaur up until a great final battle at the KT extinction, directed by Paul Verhoeven)

Aside from that, maybe a proper 2D Godzilla anime with a 1980s Cold War setting where Godzilla and the gang have been around since the 50s and humanity is still adapting. US and USSR forced to cooperate against kaiju by building mechs and such while still waging proxy wars against one another and terrorist groups try to use kaiju for their own ends. I guess it would be similar to KoTM and Pacific Rim in some regards

Should future Goji films fuse CGI and stop motion practical effects?

THE CHAD KAIJUKINO VS THE VIRGIN CAPESHIT

Unironically aGodzilla - Pacific Rim crossover wouldn’t even be that hard to pull off considering that there’s an established means for traveling between universes in Pacific Rim
> Sometime after Pacific Rim 1
> Precursors have written off PacRim Earth as a lost cause, now trying to find another world to take over
> find a suitable alternate Earth with no Jaegers
> send kaiju to conquer it
> unfortunately for them, it’s the Monsterverse Earth, shortly after the events of Godzilla vs Kong in 2020
> the Precursor’s kaiju get bushwhacked by the local wildlife, worldwide kaiju battles ensue
> Meanwhile, on the PR Earth the PPDC is trying to figure out how to open portals to alternate dimensions so they can invade the Anteverse
> accidentally open a portal to the Monsterverse Earth instead
> negotiations between the two Earths ensue
> the PR Earth learns of the Monsterverse Earth’s predicament
>heykidwannabuysomeJaegers.jpg
> MONARCH-controlled Jaegers soon fighting alongside Godzilla, Rodan, Kong and the other Titans against the invaders
Ideally it would retcon events of Uprising, so Mako and Raleigh would still be alive and probably leading a PPDC “expeditionary force” to support the Monsterverse Earth and train local forces on how to become Jaeger pilots
There’d also be things like a faction of Monarch that wants to use the Jaegers to exterminate the Earth kaiju while another regards them as invaluable allies against the Anteverse kaiju and other alien monsters like Ghidorah
Would probably work best as a comic or something, like those Dark Horse AvP comics from the 90s, but considering how Uprising completely killed the Pacific Rim brand it’ll never happen

Attached: 6EE13F49-62C5-4DFD-8096-45E6D37B0AC7.jpg (1600x864, 437K)

Persecution of the Masses is also 10/10. Not to mention the scene it was featured in is 100% kaijukino. Shin Godzilla was really good at making Godzilla feel like a legitimately terrifying threat, in all his stages.

>I repeat. There is no danger of the creature coming ashore. Please set your minds at ease.
>It has?!

Rodan is a bad guy in KotM and dies

The one thing that would make this so hard to pull off is the fact that the Pac Rim kaiju weigh peanuts compared to Monsterverse kaiju. The big ass Mega-Kaiju at the end of Uprising weighs about 8000 tons. Legendary Goji weighs 90000 tons

Make more Kong movies, the beast from 20000 fanthoms remake(owned by WB),get some small Toho monsters and make them big. Get rights to Othra and make spin off.

The gills are especially scary

He is a bad guy, but he doesn't die; Mothra fucks him up with a stinger during the final battle and knocks him out of the fight, and he's later seen among the monsters bowing to Godzilla at the end (reportedly he's resistant at first but Godzilla growls at him and he acquiesces)
I feel like it would be relatively easy to handwave that sort of thing; the GA probably wouldn't care, and if worst comes to worst you could just retcon it so everyone's in the same weight class

Agreed.
I remember when leaks were going around after the Japan Red Carpet premier, and people were saying that the blood that came out of his gills was dissolving people so Godzilla could absorb them in order to fuel his transformations (leading into the figures molting out of the tail at the end). Obviously that's not what we got, but I remember thinking that was the craziest shit I'd ever read. The kaiju fanbase definitely has the most fun hype trains.

Attached: Outofmywaygookfuckingshits.webm (1920x800, 2.3M)

But reducing Godzillas weight would be a bad move, and upping Jaeger's weight to sort of be in the same league as Godzilla would be a little far fetched. I mean, I'd welcome it. Maybe there's a reason for it, being alternate universes and such.

That moment when Ghidorah is looking right at you and you soil yourself.

Can you post full spoilers? Please

Unironically Cloverfield

Pacific Rim and are both up there for me. Jackson's King Kong too. Monsters was different in a tasteful way. I dunno, man. I just love kaiju flicks.

Godzilla directed by Michael Bay. Would it be kino? Post your dream Godzilla director.

I have a feeling it would be similar to Final Wars.

Which monsters should they adapt next? Gorgo?

Some anons who went to another test screening, while confirming the other details, said that what Dance buys at the end is the Ghidorah head that got cut off in the Mexico battle and not a Destoroyah crab; either way Godzilla vs Kong is almost certainly going to feature a team up

Attached: 1504120701426.jpg (900x900, 154K)

Why would Dance's character buy a Ghidorah head? What could he do with it?
Thanks.

Attached: mkg.jpg (421x521, 84K)

Mothra is male and you know it.

No fucking way

Well, it was previously shown that Ghidorah has a crazy regenerative capability (being able to regrow a lost head within minutes). When he is finally killed in Boston he has been reduced to a single head that is still surviving despite it's body being destroyed and tries to slither away, presumably to regenerate it's body and two other heads before Godzilla incinerates and eats it. Perhaps Dance aims to regrow Ghidorah, use it as a basis for Mecha King Ghidorah, or maybe genetically engineer a whole new monster from it. I'm half-convinced it's Destoroyah if only because I doubt Legendary would have Ghidorah as the villain twice in a row

>woman brings the apocalypse on earth
>men save the world
What did they mean by this???

Stealth redpill
Also shows that automatically giving the mother custody of the kid might be a bad idea

Watanabe rejuvenating Godzilla in the same way that Godzilla dies in the '54 film is low-key my favorite bit.

IF I DIE ON THIS WORLD

Is Cloverfield that good?

Godzilla is smart
Superheroes are dumb

It's alright

The first twenty minutes or so drags, but after that, it's thoroughly enjoyable.

I couldn’t get past he shaky cam shit. I really liked the monster design and total confusion of everything.

I had the idea for a Godzilla: Monster Planet before the anime ruined that title. My idea was that the Xiliens / Vortaak / Kilaak / some alien race had come to save us from the monsters by setting up a planet as a wildlife preserve. Some lab rat human starts working on the planet and learns that the aliens are studying our monsters to engineer new killing machines (Barugaron, Shiigan, Balkzardan, Jyarumu, Vagnosaurus, Razin) which the human character uncovers. Godzilla would have been very hermit-like and advanced in years by the time the movie starts, and he rallies the now-thriving army of human monsters to destroy the preserve and eradicate the aliens with the help of the human cast. There would be flocks of Rodans, a herd of Anguiri, a forest of Biollante blooms, etc etc. The real way to do a "Monster Planet" concept.

Just a thought my younger brother posed to me the other day: technically there are existing Godzilla bones, as evidenced by Godzilla 2014. Could we maybe get a Legendary Mechagodzilla by way of Kiryu?

Attached: kiryu concept 2.png (502x349, 312K)

If this movie delivers I´ll probably go see it like 4 times, twice on IMAX.

Totally a possibility, mecha-godzilla is pretty fun.

Thoughts on the anime's take on mechagodzilla?

I want it so bad, you have no idea. He's #5 of the big five, so if they want the most marketability that's probably their best option. I really hope we see a Godzilla 3 after GvK, at least at this point. Unless KOTM and GvK are so ass that it ruins the franchise, but I don't see that happening at this point.

Teenage me wouldn't believe it. Rodan was the first non-Godzilla monster we saw in the trailer and it felt so unreal. Rodan is in a high budget Hollywood movie. And with that trailer music it was a very emotional scene to say the least.

I know these threads often die before the limit. Maybe it's because it's more than two months to the premiere but even when I don't feel like having a long discussion about these movies I'm glad that someone always cares enough to make a thread and it does make me want to rewatch some monster movies maybe the original King Kong as soon as I finish The African Queen.

It should be noted that set visits this week confirmed Dance's character is harvesting kaiju/"Titan" DNA, which is why he has a cut-off Ghidorah head in the post-credits scene.

Sounds like Toho's gonna let Legendary use Godzilla after 2020 if KotM and KKvG do well. They're also interested in more spin-offs. twitter.com/OMEGAGORMARU/status/1109940293414150145

Attached: pulgasari.png (626x365, 274K)

I'd make an animated anthology series of the different Godzilla and other kaiju interacting throughout Earth's history. Each episode would be a different setting and different period, with an overall theme of mythology meeting the real monsters.

One episode would be viking/Norse fleets supporting Godzilla while he fights Jormangundr and a bunch of its smaller spawn. One episode follows Gamera fighting a titan during ancient Greek times, where we see fleets of Greek ships and walls to their cities employ Greek fire to try and stop the Kaiju but Gamera eats that shit. Another with Rodan, as quetzalcoatl, leveling Aztec cities. Godzilla vs Amanozako, etc. Each episode would have classic and new music done in that culture's style.

shit that poster looks fucking kino wew im hyped

Then it better earn far more than measly 500million. Monster movies have it hard. I did notice that there's a great interest I'm not sure how much would be enough to consider the movie a success (around 700 million maybe) but dedicated fans won't be enough.

Is this one of the best trailers ever made?

who is Godzilla gonna give that marshmallow heart to?

Leave Thanos to me.

Attached: GodzillaFinalWars2.webm (720x400, 2.11M)

Well, its budget is about $200 million apparently. If we count it as the same success as the 2014 movie, then it needs to make about 3x its budget for the same success, or about $600+. I'm not saying that's the exact metric, but realistically speaking it probably won't break 800 million, no matter how bad we want it to. Still, 650-700 million sounds reasonable enough, and isn't a bad profit, plus I have a strong feeling it'll outdo some movies in Asian countries around its release period. Cautiously optimistic.

I really hope the movie does good. I need more kaiju movies in my life. I lived my entire adolescence never getting to see a Godzilla movie in theaters, and now that we've finally gotten a resurgence, I've seen 2014, Shin, Pacific Rim, PR Uprising, Skull Island, and soon KOTM. I don't want to just see the gravy train end so soon. Capeshit needs to accelerate its decline so kaijukino can have its chance in the spotlight.

God damn

Completely agreed. My first movie in theaters, ever, was Godzilla 2000. Nothing beats that experience, and the closest things to rival it have been other Kaijukino, like Pacific Rim and Shin, and Gravity in imax. Kaiju movies will always be my taste, and unfortunately it's just not as appreciated as it should be

Adapt Godzilla in Hell and hand it over to Panos Cosmatos (director of Mandy and Beyond the Black Rainbow).

I guess Legendary series is a spiritual adaptation of some IDW series as well with international organizations, numerous settings and this Godzilla is very similar to the one in Rulers of Earth when it comes to his role (but Legendary Godzilla is less mean).

>but Legendary Godzilla is less mean
This is one of my only legitimate grievances with the way he's portrayed in the Monsterverse right now. Godzilla's supposed to me a bit of an asshole.

Most kino of rooms user. You are blessed.

No. You get very little monster stuff.

A spiritual sequel to the Godzilla of 54, while none of the characters reappear, there are multiple references to that movie and is heavily implied that Serizawa's sacrifice was a failure, so Godzilla is still alive.

After 10 years of ausence, Godzilla comes back in 1964 bringing terror to humanity once again. However, another 2 Godzillas appear somewhere in Japan. They are bigger and much more stronger than the orginal Godzilla since these weren't affected by radiation.

Most of the movie is spent trying to kill all 3 Godzillas.

Based sleepy boy

We got TL2Bie in Latin American though

He died in the first movie

Maybe Detective Pikachu

Really? There has to be somebody. What about Monstrosities?

Pikachu comes out early enough and has different target audience. It will also certainly do a lot better than Godzilla most likely the highest grossing non-Disney movie of the year. For Godzilla the biggest threat will be Aladdin. Also more for the kids but close to its own release and it's a Disney live action adaptation. Sadly negative reception after the first teaser practically disappeared and most comments after the recent trailer are something like "I disliked the first trailer but now I'm in tears it's so beautiful". Misplaced nostalgia is a powerful tool. It's the sole reason why these derivative products are so successful.

He's died several times.

Once in the original when the Oxygen Destroyer was used on him.

Once in 1993 when Mechagodzilla killed his second brain.

Once in 1995 when he went into meltdown and had to be shot with vold bombs to not completely obliterate Earth by melting through the planet

Once in Planet of the Monsters after an elaborate plan that targeted a weakness, although it was just a spore of the original Godzilla, who woke up shortly after

Godzilla and Generals: Godzilla in the American Civil War.

Godzilla's Not Dead: Godzilla survives the Oxygen Destroyer

The Godzillafather: Godzilla as the don of a Kaiju mafia

City of Godzilla: A young Rodan tries to survive a crime infested Monster Island

Aguirre The Wrath of Godzilla: Spanish Conquistidors accidentally awaken Godzilla while plundering a South American native tribe

>vold
Cold

marketing interns get to come in and pump movies on boards and it's part of their "careers".

>he's died several times
Obviously he didn't died then

There are some channels that deal in speciall effects, sci fi or pop culture as a whole that talk about Godzilla. In fact it became one of the obvious topics for any channel that goes in depth about culture to talk about Godzilla's origin. DangerVille became pretty much a Godzilla channel. It's not as wasteful and clickbaity like TommyH or HN. Mr H is somewhere in between.

Channels specifically dedicated to Godzilla don't get many views and their streams are pretty much dead. They also don't have many interesting videos. Blunova seems a bit better than others and even conceded when I pointed out a mistake in one video.
WikiZilla is just wiki read aloud but at least it's informative.

Aside from that there's one non-kaiju channel that deals with old movies that I really wish was more popular. He does quick videos about trivia from classic horror movies.

What is the Canon reason for the people growing out of his tail? I was under the impression that godzilla was evolving to become something far more destructive which was man... Am I right or retarded?

"Canonically" only twice. In other cases he got better. Unless divine resurrection can be counted among his powers clinical death clearly meant he was close but didn't cross the line. Like your typical rockstar who probably "died" this way more times than Godzilla.

People he stepped on were absorbed into his DNA.

The Third Kaijuu: Anguirus is killed and Godzilla is trying to find out who did it despite conflicting evidence.

The 400 Blows: Godzilla Jr is trying to live a better life.

The Last Man on Earth: some rando wakes up as the last human on a planet solely populated by kaijuu.

Predator: does it really need to be invisible?

Really? That's it? Gay

Cosmic horror. Giant God killer kaiju that defies form. Movie isn't advertised as a godzilla movie. About halfway through the main character loses his mind because of this eldritch horror megakaiju, from there godzilla (maybe and other kaiju) save the day while breaking shit along the way.

No, it's not people he stepped on. It's him adapting to the fact that a bunch of individual people were able to work together and harm him. His next adaption was to be a bunch of smaller human-Godzilla freaks of nature instead

Ching/chong great poster

I think Brandon's reviews are decent, if scattered. For actual discussions, I enjoy Omni Viewer. I may not agree with everything, and he's a bit weird, but he has some genuinely great videos that discuss potential scenarios as well as thematic elements of various Kaiju books and movies.

Bump

I could see Biolante being an easy monster to write into a movie based on stealing Monster DNA and mixing it with terrible results.

Legendary Destoroyah when?

not tohokingdom but just as autistic and also godzilla related

Oh no, not again

>your job is to kill them and make it as if they never were there to begin with
the job of an assassin is literally just to kill them
the only difference between an assassin and a bounty hunter is that the hunter goes after them directly and the assassin is a pussyfooting little shit

Is there any Godzilla that's nearly as based as Godzilla Earth?

They Eyes Was Watchin Godzilla

>Kong's greatest rival
>Kong of steel
>Shines bright light in Kong's eyes
>Kong - "rrreeeeeeeeeeee"
This looks like a classic, gonna have to check it out

I stumbled on this the other day and was fascinated with how different it could have been.

I'm conflicted. The first trailer was incredible but the second trailer kinda looked like shit.

is the movie really going to look like this poster or is that just exaggeration / dramatization advertising?

You do realize it's not one single Godzilla in every single film right? There are several different continuities
