truly a glib facsimile
he's right. it's riding on the last film momentum and critical success while bringing in nothing that we haven't seen before
Prove him wrong. That's right, you can't.
hm yes, shallow and pedantic
Hey, how about someone translate what he said to English
it really insists upon itself
The purple prose is real
truly a pernicious example of the singularity presented from motifs in certain film series
it's more of the same shit
Then why didn't he just say that instead of the retarded word salad in ops pic?
If your parents named you Nigel how else are you supposed to talk?
it amazes me how many people on the internet can't read above a fifth grade level
English major here. What that critic spewed out means nothing. In fact I doubt he knows what “monody” even means.
>Financial Times
Why would a review from a finance publication count?
>English major here
I don't have a reaction image ready for this one. Sheer embarrassment.
....okaaaaay
One might almost be drawn to making the assertion that our dear Nigel, eponymous brave of his own self-indulgent vicarious replication of Hamlet, has learnt to speak in the manner presented forthwith as a direct reaction to having been named as such, in a misdirected attempt to make up in apparent intellect and grooming for the connotations of his name.
truly ar nige
But that's not fifth grade level. That's just some mumbo jumbo that may as well come out of a toddler.
What's it like having no future?
>English major here
>tfw did an english degree because I like reading
>took enough electives in science to get a minor
>did pharmacology post grad and now make the big bucks for doing next to nothing and going home in the early afternoon
lmao
This is funny. He has incorrect punctuation, and he starts a separate clause with a preposition. Pretty funny when pseudo erudite talk on the internet.
>Pretty funny when pseudo erudite talk on the internet.
kek
not so sharp yourself bruh
>English major here
oof
>monody
1.
an ode sung by a single actor in a Greek tragedy.
2.
a poem lamenting a person's death.
Couldn't he just say it was too reashy? Fucking pedantic cunt.
I can tell y’all are either underage or didn’t go to college at all.
fair to say that your powers of deduction are probably a good watermark for how likely it is that you'll find any form of professional success
That's really poor writing
I’m not the English major buddy. I’m just an idiot who fell for the STEM meme.
meaning what, that you did a STEM degree and got shitty marks and therefore have no prospects?
kek and also fpbp and also based
>marks
BONG ALERT
>English major here
that's a yes then
>fifth grade level
why are you pseuds so dishonest
I think that means yes
Imagine majoring in something that literally everyone already knows
Don’t be condescending please. What I’m saying is that you should major in a field that you’re actually interested in. I hope all the young impressionable people on 4chin don’t fall into the meme that a money is all you need in life.
Are you allowed to put a preposition the end of a sentence at?
basado y rojoempastillado
Yes, I agree. Shallow and pedantic.
Philosophy major here.
Undergrad at Brown and my MBA at Georgetown. Still laughing at English majors.
>english major
>English major here
I'm so sorry.
Genuine question. What the fuck were you thinking? Did you really go through all of those years without considering the aftermath?
>Being a passioncuck
Thanks for the wise words. I'm now going to major in David Beckham Studies at the University of Staffordshire. Surely I will lead a fulfilling life when I graduate.
People who justify or encourage getting retarded degrees with zero job prospects because it interests someone are the ultimate brainlets who were never given the grown-up talk that in order to make it in life, one needs to differentiate between a career and a hobby.
Obviously there are exceptions, but they are very rare. Why the fuck would you encourage someone to get a degree when there is a +95% chance they'll end up having to buy kneepads to afford food?
That's honestly terrible advice.
Friend of mine majored in English and now works at an ad-agency as senior copywriter, has a great salary, is nominated for advertising awards and on the fast track to becoming creative director. Meets all kinds of people, gets to travel etc. It's not like you can't achieve anything without a STEM degree. As long as you're not a brainlet you'll be fine.
why would they need knee pads?
Because the amount of dicks they'd have to suck to lead a comfortable life would leave their knees prone to injury.
Don’t strawman my argument. You can’t compare something stupid like a degree in Beyoncé to an arts degree. Majoring in a topic such as English, history or arts is something that shouldn’t be stigmatized by pretentious faggets like you.
The same applies, although to a somewhat lesser degree.
If the odds of obtaining a relevant job is lesser than 50%, encouraging someone to take up a loan to pursue that direction is pants on head retarded. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the real world workforce doesn't require as many history majors as are currently graduating. If they're lucky, they'll end up in an office job "bcus i can wryte good". At which point they would have been far better off studying something relevant like business administration, anyways.
You can take it if you like. You should just be prepared for a reality in which you will likely never accomplish much or have genuine financial success.
well la di da
I'm not that user, but I also majored in literature. (Doing another degree now, though.)
You faggot couldn't cut it, pretty sure.
STEM degrees are shilled here because it’s full of massive autists who are incapable of gaining employment in a field that doesn’t involve sitting in a corner churning out numbers.
Nah it was a good movie. Peele avoided the sophomore slump well.
HES RACIST AND WHITE GO SEE UP REEEEEEEEE DONT BE RACIST
Not him, but yes, of course, especially when using phrasal verbs (put up, throw up, take out, give up, give away, etc.)
Monody is typically a poem lamenting the death of a friend.
Just because a degree has added complexity to it, doesn't make it worthwhile or notable. See: Feminist studies.
In the end, you shouldn't really be bragging. You should be even more ashamed, that you spent a lot of time grasping a complex subject which has absolutely zero relevance to your future. You might as well have been studying the 800 new pronouncs and their effects on a futuristic society.
these are the dumbasses who think they’re smarter than Republicans
Don't tell incels that! They think science (and only the ones they deem valid) is the only way to anything, even though they themselves didn't choose that path.
>Just because a degree has added complexity to it, doesn't make it worthwhile or notable.
I've become a teacher. I teach people to speak English and how to analyse/appreciate literature and kino. I'm doing fine, thanks for your concern.
shut up obvious tranny with a humanities degree. I fucking wake up in a haze with a cup of coffee and I can still pick you out of a haystack any day
Those who can't do, teach.
In the end you're just part of a pyramid scheme. You're teaching other idiots, who in turn will have to teach new idiots. Since there obviously aren't enough teaching jobs, the majority will end up having to take up a second loan to get a real degree, or purchase kneepads. Thanks for proving my point.

>Basket-Weaving major here
May I ask kind sir, what is it you do?
>inb4 STEM undergrad
Not him but a consultant at one of the big four.
>Masters in finance
>Bachelors in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
The last one was paid for by my current employer, since it's relevant to the field; Shipbroker.
based Roger Moore
Why is a finance publication reviewing movies?
Also, since we've gotten into careers I might as well recommend the job to anons by listing perks, since most people have never heard of it.
>Job description: You broker deals between ship owners and cargo owners. Think Ahmed in Saudi Arabia needs to get his oil to a buyer in Canada. Steve who owns an oil tanker needs to fill it up. You broker terms, a price, get legal to set up a contract, etc.
>$120k starting + bonuses. Should be able to reach a total of $300-400k annually within 3-4 years unless you're retarded
>Most firms have offices worldwide, and allows you to choose where you want to work. Firm usually offers apartments. Most firms have offices in: New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Oslo, Dubai. Want to work out of Singapore for a week? Sure, bring your girlfriend, too
>Scouts working for financial firms in New York and London will be all over your dick, since shipbroking is even more cutthroat than ordinary finance
literally any 4yr degree will get you a job at virtually any company and then you can move into management within a few years, if you can't hack it with a non-stem degree then it is you who's the retard and needs extra teaching to like an idiot
based
I'm & I have yet to meet a person in corporate with a meme degree. As for your concerns, I already wrote about it here; >If they're lucky, they'll end up in an office job "bcus i can wryte good". At which point they would have been far better off studying something relevant like business administration, anyways.
Good luck finding management in serious corporations with meme degrees. They are non-existent.
>english major
What? Couldn't get into STEM?
I have no idea wtf he just said
>you need an English major to know what a Greek word means
Fuck, that was a while ago
What was that review for? TFA?
don't move your goalposts retard you said someone with a meme degree would need to pay for another degree before they could get work which is a blatant lie, and you are lying if you think nobody in management has a meme degree, you aren't even in management and you're a direct counterexample where many fields will pay for training even up to another degree, management is even usually a tier down from that where they ONLY care about experience and if anything they prefer someone with no relevant degree because they can pay 5% less and everyone wins
you should have just given the standard meme answer of telling them to go to trade school
You wouldn’t do shit you needledick cracker
what kind of dick writes like this outside of a thesis paper
basically "let's not rock our libshit leftypol dreamboat" he calls out the "critics" who sucked "Get Out"'s dick for living in a circlejerk.
not so fast
>The Brilliance of it's Predecessor
Low fuckin bar there
What he said
This guy is definitely a virgin.
based
This is copypasta worthy.
have sex
shit sucks breh
If sentimentality is a sophist device used to manipulate many into feeling a certain emotion, as is the case with most Oscarbait, then Peele is guilty of the filmmaker's version of sentimentality--the movie never feels comfortable exploring itself, and instead is constantly pulled in various, nagging directions with action as a distraction and foreshadowing as a strategic placement for a specific payoff, Chekov’s arsenal, if you will. It’s as if we, the audience, are being guided down a hallway of mirrors to various distractions and points of ponderance in the shortest line possible, given the minimal amount of time deemed necessary for these ideas to ferment, and then having them all recalled back into the foray the moment they have fermented. The end result is the audience feels smart without thinking, the themes feel proficient but not organic, and the cinematography feels like the binding agent of a pill, a payload to deliver with brutal efficiency rather than an exploration of a visual landscape. You may feel a mental force tugging you to believe that Us is a good and well-made movie because individual scenes have weight and thought behind them, but in your heart, for the reasons I describe, you will feel dismay and a distant unease that the film never quite was what it believed itself to be.
If the director wasn't of the ape persuasion, it would be forgotten
