I can't see her being one. I'm not saying that you can't be a fan of commercially produced pop culture and still be a communist because I think that Adorno and Horkheimer are full of shit and you can appreciate art and entertainment on a personal level regardless of its capitalist origins but in Jenny's case... I don't know, she seems downright addicted not only to movies themselves but to all kinds of merchandise and paraphernalia aswell. And I'm not judging her, she seems like a nice person, but I find it hard to imagine that someone who enjoys buying branded stuff so much would be very critical of capitalism. And if she was it would seem a bit hypocritical to me.

Well, I think every communist has to take part in capitalism to some extent unless you live in some sort of self sufficient commune or something and I'm not so ignorant to claim that buying things makes you capitalist. Or the old rightist gotcha that enjoying a movie made under a studio means that you are supportive of the studio system. I think it's perfectly valid to like a movie made or distributed under Disney while still disliking Disney. My favourite movie of all time is The Straight Story and that's technically a Disney movie. But Jenny's active participation in fan culture around various franchises and her expressing it through buying loads of official merchandise and decoration seems a bit indulgent. I mean, I like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings too but I don't think I own a single piece of merchandise of either and that is, to a point, due to my disagreement of the merchandising of art for reasons related to my own political outlook.
