I watched him for more than 20 years. Always found him kind of humorous and he usually had some decent guests on. I even watched him during the Obama years without hating him. Ever since Trump was close to winning, he has gone completely insane and I gave up even attempting to watch his show.

Why would you expect that? The Russiagate Conspiracy Theory was never based on any factual evidence or reality. It was always based on how they feel: they hate Trump and think he should have lost the election, therefore Trump is a traitor working for Russia and the only way he won is by Russia hacking America. It was never going to matter what Mueller reported because, in their heads and in their hearts, in the "reality" they've constructed, Trump is 100%, beyond a shadow of a doubt, guilty. All the comedians joke that he's guilty, they believe it and all their liberal friends believe it, so it must be true. The facts never mattered before, don't matter now, and won't matter in the future for them. The truth is inconsequential to the true believer.

I think Maher is wrong at times, but overall I think he's pretty good and open. From what I've seen he has a good and fair view of the principle of free speech and can see the principle behind the law instead of just the law like most liberals.
