The Simpsons needs to change their formula. Instead of wacky self contained stories, they should try experimenting with an overarching story that lasts for a whole season.

And they should also go back to their roots. Watching old Simpsons, all the jokes about Homer was that he was fat, lazy, or stupid. Every single joke. But it still works. I don't know what kind of jokes Homer makes now, but they're probably lame pop culture references like oh, he's angry and covered in green paint, he's like the Hulk!
