You are invited to use this thread for discussion about the film Alita: Battle Angel, which you should definitely go see while it is still in theaters. It is recommended you see it in 3D and sit close to the screen so you don't miss the details. It is also recommended that you bring a fresh orange and a bar of fine chocolate. You'll know what to do when the time comes.
Here is another thread that was used for discussion about Alita that was started before this one and which hit the image reply limit before this thread was made.
has anyone else gone to the alita experience? If so, which motorball champion won? NYC here, Jashugan won and my friends who didn't watch the movie bet without me, so we didn't win and get a coin :(

Some anons recommended I go see this in an earlier thread. Just finished watching it at my local kinoplex.
I recommend you go see it again! It gets even better.

glad you liked it user. It's going to be bittersweet thinking about the many times I've seen it on the big screen. Bluray will have to fill that void. For now, get to comfyposting.
>Do you remember anything? Do you have any memories from before? >I have memories, but they're not real. They're just implants. >Tell me one, from when you were a kid. >I fell strange telling a childhood story considering I was never a child. >Would it help you share if I made it an order. >I have one about a fight I was in. I was on the moon running toward an enemy. I jumped into a lariat and kicked another enemy behind that one. I took them both down. It was an awesome move. I was in a great battle in the heavens. An officer called out to me to warn me of another enemy on my flank. And that was it. >That's a good one.
>Interrogator: Officer A-N-O-N, let’s begin. Ready? >user: Yes, sir. >I: Recite your baseline. >A: “I do not stand by in the presence of evil… I’d do whatever I had to for you. I’d give you whatever I have. I’d give you my heart… Does it bother you that I’m not completely human?... I don’t belong anywhere except with you.” >I: Cells. >A: Cells. >I: Have you ever been to an Alita movie? Cells. >A: Cells. >I: Did you buy more than one ticket? Cells. >A: Cells. >I: When you’re not watching the Alita movie do you post about it on Yea Forums? Cells. >A: Cells. >I: Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: What’s it like to hold Alita’s hand? Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: Did she teach you how to eat an orange? Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: Do you long to look into her eyes? Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: Do you dream about being interlinked with Alita? Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: What’s it like to hug Alita? Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: When you’re not watching the movie do you feel like there’s a part of you that is missing? Interlinked. >A: Interlinked. >I: Why don’t you say that three times: Within cells interlinked. >A: Within cells interlinked. Within cells interlinked. Within Alita interlinked. >I: ...You’re obsessed with Alita. You’re not even close to baseline.
Probably. They probably have access to archives, history lessons, and verified information that Iron City has no hope of achieving.

I'm still thinking about crewanon and what he said about Rosa sleeping around >ywn have a steamy one night stand with the lead actress of one of your favorite movies
The first time I watched Alita was a late night screening. It was almost midnight by the time I got back to my car in the parking garage by the kinoplex, and driving home on a dead empty freeway underneath a starry night sky when Alita was still so clear in my memory was one of the most profound experiences in my life. I took a detour and just drove around the moonlit countryside for a while as I processed my feelings.
It was almost 2 AM by the time I got home, and the first thing I did was drag my telescope out into my backyard to look at the moon. I don't have any photography equipment but, wanting a to preserve that precious moment in time, I put my phone to the eyepiece and took this picture of the waxing gibbous moon.
Is there a game like MGR but where you punch shit instead of swordplay? I was thinking bdo but its not really cyberpunk/sci-fi, but it has some fun combat gameplay
no intention to start a philosophical debate about reality because we could be there all night but I like to say Alita is real (or any fictional character), just not in flesh and blood (or cybernetic parts)
Kayden Robinson
Man, I know those feelings. I had a similar experience driving way the fuck home back from my IMAX 3D screening. The humming of the car and lights passing by as you drive down the right, just deep in thought about what you saw, that's just as profound as seeing the movie.
I tried digital painting ONCE and it was a disaster. I can't imagine how much practice it takes to get it right without the ability to correct on-the-fly.
>enjoyed her time >liked the movie >probably huge relief knowing it's done and having so much focus on pressure on you probably builds up like crazy >gonna miss playing Alita
May your dreams bring you peace in the darkness, May you always rise over the rain. May the light from above always lead you to love, May you stay in the arms of the angels.
May you always be brave in the shadows Till the sun shines upon you again. Hear this prayer in my heart And will ne'er be apart, May you stay in the arms of the angels.
May you hear every song in the forest And if ever you lose your own way; Hear my voice like a breeze Whisper soft through the trees. May you stay in the arms of the angels
May you grow up to stand as a man, love With the pride of your family and name. When you lay down your head For to rest in your bed, May you stay in the arms of the angels
This is largely credited to the original manga, but I'm glad they were able to capture the, almost innocent growing up these two had. Even though Hugo was already far gone, which we find out he's done and will do terrible things, it's cute that these two grow up almost as childhood friends. Here they're starting off just playing a game of street motorball, then he takes her out for chocolate, they take about their dreams, they get into scuffles together, fall in love, and the rest is history. Alita doesn't just grow and change, but Hugo comes in to conflict with his dead set wish to leave the place the two had grown together. Something very beautiful about the whole thing.
The first time i watched Alita i was super-high. I had it planned it like this since i never go to cinema sober. Not once in the last 10 years. The cinema is a 7 minute stroll away from my home. I bought the ticket earlier and when the time was right i left the house immediately lighting my first joint. I smoked on the way and when i arrived at the cinema i was already feeling it. I had planned to smoke 2 joints, but i wasn't even finished with the first one. The cinema was illuminated by a bright pink neon-light and it was a cold night but i could see the stars. My perception of time and space changed significantly as i was standing across the street from the cinema huffing the blunt. No other people around. It was nearly silent only the humming of the city in the background. I enjoyed the cold air. It was 7 minutes before the movie started and i couldn't even stand upright, the weed was hitting me hard. No way i could have smoked the other one so i went in. I avoided looking into the eyes of the female checking my ticket (my eyes probably red and the pupils wide). I had problems walking the fucking stairs up because my circulatory system was ramping down. I started to feel nauseous and sweaty. "One more, user and you can rest." i said to myself. I entered the cinema and sat down right in the moment Bri Larson showed her ugly face. "Good fucking dammit, its just a trailer, but i already want to hit her with a wood plank" I had to keep my vomit down as a thought of her foot fungus flashed in my memory. I felt close to a panic attack when a thought entered my mind: "You are incredibly fucking high (maybe a little too much), and you're gonna watch an adaption of one of your favorite manga, get your fucking act together! Maybe its a good movie and you have fun. What are you afraid off?" The movie started and i was the trash falling from Zalem. It felt exhilarating.
When she opened her eyes i got tears in mine. "Why? What is this feeling?" With every minute of the movie i got more and more in an trance, staring at the screen in disbelief. My eyes wide open (mouth probably too), facial muscles relaxed. I totally forgot EVERYTHING, my world was the screen and the screen was Alita. I snapped out of it 15 minutes later, and looked around slightly ashamed. (maybe 5 other people with me in the cinema) "Whats going on here, that not just the weed...?" I realized for the first time since entering the cinema that Alita is a CG character and i am watching a movie. I went into the experience again and the whole cycle repeated several times over the course of the movie. Staring at the screen, eyes wide open, saliva dripping from my mouth at least once since i forgot basic functions of my body. It really was like a trip. My awareness was leaving my body and went into the movie, highly supported by the giant screen and the mesmerizing 3D. When the movie was over and i left the cinema i was approaching baseline again. The 7 minutes on foot where over in an second while i was thinking about the fact that i was falling in love with an ficional character. When i arrived at home, i ate something, opened a bottle of beer, rolled another joint and watched the camrip of the movie again. Next morning i woke up and decided to do this again and again.

There is nothing pseudo about it. Alita is pure cuteness and love (endorphin + oxytocin) The 3D and the visuals makes the comfy feeling (dopamine and increased serotonin) The action and drama is the fun and the excitement (adrenaline.)
We should sue Cameron for making us addicted.

post from a French fan, you decide if it's crazy or not: I know math (I have a master of mathematics) and I personally think Box Office mojo is rigging its statistics for the box office results of the movie Alita: Battle angel. Box office mojo indicates in his table today that Alita: Battle Angel won in France 15.46 million dollars on the date of 17/03/2019 whereas yesterday they indicated in the same table that 'Alita had won $ 16.37 million in France on 10/03/2019 See this link for more details: boxofficemojo.com/movies/... There would have been an inexplicable decrease of $ 890000 in one week. That does not make sense. Especially since in France, during the week of 11/03/2019 to 17/03/2019 Alita has made 100,000 additional tickets (which is approximately 800,000 dollars according to my calculations (which take into account the week of cinema. )). See this link, for more details: jpbox-office.com/fichfilm.php... (part 1/2)

>A Little Less Conversation stars playing in the background

Being in a car going off a cliff won't kill berserk-Alita unless she lets it happen, I think.
part 2 In addition, note also that the foreign total of Box office mojo for Alita was 312.22 million as of 17/03/2019 and is now 312.34 million dollars as of 19/03/2019, thus, this total has only increased by $ 0.12 million, while I estimate it should have increased by $ 1 million during these two days. The question I ask myself is: What is the interest of boxing office mojo to make all these mistakes? Have they become incompetent? No, in fact, I think they are trying to push as far back as possible the date when the 400 million mark for Alita will be reached in order to discourage fans from going to the movies to see Alita . And I also believe that they are looking to move the date as quickly as possible or Captain Marvel will have made more money than Alita in France for psychological reasons from fans of Marvel and Alita. Therefore, for me, it became clear, Box office mojo is not a neutral body, they are in favor of Disney. Box office mojo is no longer credible to me!
They suck in general keeping the foreign tabs totals updated properly. But it does depend on a movie by movie basis, I've noticed. Some movies they overestimate the earnings and others underestimate. It's all estimates until it absolutely ends it's entire run.
(((Scott Mendelson))) says the film will reach 84M Domestic and 400M overall tomorrow, but for that seems unlikely
Jose Butler
You're going to like(?) the BR2049 reference coming up probably.

Somehow hard to belive Despite the fact that we know Disney is willing to burn their own company to push their agenda mfw this is actually not hard to believe Stupid mouse, stoping a page from writing numbers won't take away the money, the money will still go to fund Alita 2
They're not worried about the right now, they're forward thinking. What they're doing is trying to prime a future market to give up money based on superficial statements rather than art that required work. I forget the phenomenon's name at the moment but there's an economic theory on it where demand is shaped by markets over time.
Justin Gutierrez
Yeah, i think their numbers aren't correct. boxoffice.com has the current projected numbers at $397,595,689
Honestly shoutouts to France for putting up good numbers though thank you french frens
Jeremiah Walker
If there is something Disney doesn't care about is their future, they intentionally destroyed SW, they are destroying the MCU and they want to destroy more things that's why they want to buy everything. I'm not gonna waste more time talking about the mouse, but they do not give a single fuck. This is not a rational move, their agenda is driven by emotion.

Today I went to my third showing of Alita. It had about 20 people in it when I was expecting to be the only one there. I posted from the theater when I went several threads ago.
Each time I see Alita I get inspired to better myself even more. Tonight, in honor of seeing her for the third time, I ran 3.5 miles. I usually run 3 and have been stuck at 3 for months. I did 3.5 effortlessly, and I felt like I could have easily done 4 or even 5. It's crazy how you can hit psychological walls that prevent yourself from pushing yourself further even though the wall is invisible and you can walk (or run) right through it.
Thanks Alita for reminding me of this and giving me the push I needed. I might try for 4 miles next run, just for you.
Pic related, what will probably be the last showing of Alita in my theater. See you when the Bluray comes out sweetheart.
>There are no boundaries in the mind. If you find any, you yourself or others have build them, but you can bring them down. I know but sometimes it can be difficult to tear down the barriers we build ourselves. I was a NEET for 2 years after graduating college. I'm 30 and never had a girlfriend, I was for all intents and purposes, a complete loser. 6 weeks ago I finally got a job. Now I just go to work and come home and save my money. I don't go out or do anything, I have no friends and I don't drink or party. The only going out I have done in the past year at least is go see Alita by myself 3 times in theaters.
Yet despite being a loner boner with no friends I'm so happy. I work out, I save money, I go running, and now I have a ton of inspiration from seeing Alita. In 6 weeks I saved 5000 dollars, this is nothing for many of you, but for me after being poor my whole life finally seeing money in my bank account really feels good.
I've never felt so good in my life. The only thing that could make life better is getting an Alita tier girlfriend but even being alone I feel completely comfortable and happy. It's very st range to feel this way.
Xavier Parker
That's the best part about the saved money- you can support the things you love and care about like Alita. I'm really glad to hear that yo're happy user I'm happy too
Insomniac eurofag back from screening today. Last weekend was packed - it’s now down to about 80% full, but spread across more screenings. It appears that per-screen earnings on this movie is good enough to warrant additional screens. Alita appears to be popular with last minute audiences, because when I checked yesterday evening less than 10 seats were booked, compared to about 50 at online order deadline. I also saw concession stand staff in there out of uniform. Didn’t ask if they were re-watching. Some points to make after re-watching this today: That little pirouette that Koyomi makes after Alita scores in the scrimmage. Nice. >Why aren’t Tanji, Koyomi and Hugo eating while waiting for Alita? Tanji is actually eating some trail mix. Also not much time passes anyway - it would be tonally out of place to set up camp. Tanji and Koyomi carry the backpacks - poor Tanji can't catch a break. >It’s thanks for bringing “the” girl No, it’s “thanks for bringing A girl” and this is confirmed by the subtitles. >Alita’s food disappears No, it doesn’t Most kino single shot: When Alita opens the door underwater Least convincing effects shot: The long-haired bearded dude at the end of the bar taking a drink while Zapan and Alita are talking. Still haven’t found Rosa in the bar scene.

Let's get some music appreciation in here. Tom Holkenborg doesn't get enough love for the incredible orchestral work he did on Alita, not even the action bits, but dramatic moments. Here are some .webms. What Did You Do? I'd Give Him My Life If I Could It's Where You're Going To Die The Soul Of A Survivor
>That's the best part about the saved money- you can support the things you love and care about like Alita. I still have trouble spending it. After being a poorfag for so long spending money on unnecessary things is very difficult for me. I want to buy the 1000$ figure but I'm struggling to justify the purchase. I don't mind buying 3 tickets to Alita and if she's still there next week a 4th ticket, but any big purchases that aren't food or rent still scares me.
I listened to the whole score while doing stuff and I found a lot to appreciate some people say it was generic but I disagree in some ways it's classical movie stuff, true, but there are some subtle nice touches that makes it great
Landon Howard
>Alita has improved so many people's live /healing/ isn't even a meme it's just the truth it really has. I mean I have had the absolute shittiest year and it's slowly on track to being sorted out.
