Both are awful damage sponges

Old Broly is a zero charisma generic walking tank and his fights aren't even entertaining. The original Broly movie is just him no-selling everything the Z-Fighters throw at him and then Goku gets an asspull powerup, punches him once and then he dies.

NuBroly's poor widdle innocent baby shtick is a little generic, but when he fights he actually comes across as a feral, wild beast and watching the constant back and forth as Vegeta/Goku and Broly have the upper hand at different stages of the fight is exciting

I like the old one more as an antagonist, but the new movie was much better than any other Dragon Ball movie so far.

I agree. In fact, my main problem with the movie in general is that it takes place so late in the series. Broly is so so so stupid powerful that it's unreasonable to believe that all of his strength comes from the fact that he's a protedgy. If you are going to have a character go head to head with Mother Fucking Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta he needs to have a damn good reason to not be obliterated in one hit. Especially considering this is post-ToP. "He was born that way" just doesn't fucking cut it.

If they had the movie take place right after Cell, it would still be a stretch, but nowhere near as much of a logical leap to believe he is naturally that strong.

Original Broly is a pro wrestler, people like him because he does lariats, grabs, and slams that are more effective than the heroes just hurling beams at him.
