How did they take over the entire galaxy within a few days of suffering a loss as bad as starkiller base being destroyed?
How did they take over the entire galaxy within a few days of suffering a loss as bad as starkiller base being...
it's not explained well but apparently after RotJ the galaxy was split between the republic and the various factions of the fallen empire. The First order being the one to be the dominant one, so the FO have the resources of a good chunk of the galaxy.
Imagine if the country was put under the control of the twitter checkmark mob for thirty years. The vast majority of the galaxy was glad to have the First Order take control.
Based
Because the FO have at least 60% of the civilized and industrial planets under their control post-TFA. Also, it’s explained in TLJ that the FO has the favor of numerous arms manufacturers.
It's odd because Rose is aware of this so it must be common knowledge so why did the New Republic just let every arms manufacturer arm their enemies like it's not an issue?
Plot hole
The non-existing Republic Military did nothing to help out the Nu-Rebels, so even though their secret weapon got wiped out they still had massive conventionally superiority in terms of ships, troops etc...
Of course none of this is actually explained anywhere in the movies.
They should've called it something different, First Order sounds more like a paramilitary group.
>it must be common knowledge so why did the New Republic just let every arms manufacturer arm their enemies like it's not an issue?
I’d say that that initially wasn’t the case when the New Republic existed, and that very few arms companies actually made shit for them. However, with Hosnian Prime and its surrounding moons getting glassed by the First Order, all the arms companies immediately rushed to make weapons for the FO, as they seemed to be the most viable customer.
The First Order can achieve whatever the script needs them to achieve. You're giving too much credit to the thought processes of the writers. You think they give a shit? They think you're a moron who will watch anything.
>so why did the New Republic just let every arms manufacturer arm their enemies like it's not an issue?
For any number of reasons. I mean you seriously can't think of one?
So if the first order already had military superiority why did they need starkiller at all, or how was a couple hundred folks with x-wings an issue? They could have just could have just taken the galaxy while the new republic's fleet sat around.
>So
McFucking kill yourself.
>However, with Hosnian Prime and its surrounding moons getting glassed by the First Order, all the arms companies immediately rushed to make weapons for the FO, as they seemed to be the most viable customer.
That seems like a bad strategy since they already won so it's not like they would be buying that much.
They explain it in the comics and books. The New Republic didn’t want an all-out war with the First Order, so they only gave the Resistance under-the-table funding, though everyone knew damn well what they were doing.
Real answer: Bad writing, copy pasting the plot of the original trilogy because they can't come up with anything better
Lore answer: The whole shock and awe mentality, and the rebs are too cagey to pin them down in one decisive engagement, so the FO figures they can make the republic surrender if they nuke a few planets and cow them with superior firepower.
Like anyone gives a fuck enough to read tie-in novels
>That seems like a bad strategy since they already won so it's not like they would be buying that much.
For the love of God what's wrong with you?
the biggest question since the movies take place in over 72 hours, I shit you not the 2 movies take place in 72 hours
How is the FO able to move across the galaxy so fast with their capital ships, seeing how it takes atleast 6 months to travel to the far edges.
Better to wipe out your enemy with a single attack than risk the chance of a long-term war. Besides, I’m sure they were going to have other uses for Starkiller Base than just to destroy Hosnian Prime.
Comics and books explain that the FO were pretty much all over the place by the time TFA took place. Also with the New Republic in ruins, it was probably easier for them to take over on a fast pace.
Movie comics and books are always 100% damage control
Kylo will call it his new Empire, now that he's ruling. Independent planets, with their own militia, are under Kylo's rule joined with him. Kylo has his own private armies in the galaxy. Also KOR and red troopers are among his private army.
Resistance members, now called the Rebels, are going to criminals and pirates for support, smaller groups, because they are not getting any support from the galaxy.
And FO was a paramilitary group. So was the Resistance.
the nu-rebels value diversity over job performance
>it's not explained well
It's not explained at all
because jj
Asking any in depth questions about nu-wars is pointless since we all know that these issues were never even considered in the writer's room when they were messily shitting out this embarrassing excuse for a franchise.
It's stupid, that's how.
Star Wars has been trash since 1998.
why didn't the new republic mop up imperial remnants after the rebels won the war?
>However, with Hosnian Prime and its surrounding moons getting glassed by the First Order, all the arms companies immediately rushed to make weapons for the FO, as they seemed to be the most viable customer
What kind of difference would that make in the 24 hours between TFA and ZLJ?
/thread
There is no point in Star Wars canon anymore. Nothing makes sense anymore and nobody gives a shit.
they didn't. rey says in TLJ that the first order will take control in a few weeks. it's also stated in the films that the entire new republic fleet is destroyed when starkiller destroyed that planet.
no comics or books required to understand this. try staying off your phone during the movie next time, zoomer.
It feels like all this was written after everything was shot rather than the other way round. The Rebellion in the OT actually feel like a rag tag band of rebels. It's hard to know where to place the factions in these movies. The FO feel like some kind of "SS" force, but it turns out they basically are the Empire.
The biggest failure of the new films is the lack of universe building. The setting feels very small for a Star Wars movie and the odds don't feel tense as it's hard to judge how powerful these factions are.
So the first order was already taking the galaxy and the republic fleet was just like "yeah ok not our problem'?
Because it makes it seem like A New Hope. That is literally their expatiation.
