Friendly reminder that it's been confirmed that Eddie Vedder recorded a song that plays during the Twin Peaks finale. It confirms Agent Cooper never gets his mind back. (Pic is evil Cooper surviving and Agent Cooper never getting his mind back lyrics version)

JUST KEEP BUILDING IT

I'm halfway through watching season 3 lads. is it going to get better? It doesn't feel like Twin Peaks, more like some weird sci-fi/fantasy. It all seems very self-indulgent and extra weird for the sake of it by Lynch. Hurts me to say this BTW.

>read glorified fan fiction
David lynch hasn't confirmed anything from the books so it doesn't count

I was completely ecstatic from the very beginning and it only got better as it went along so I don't know how to help you. Maybe it's just not for you

>lynched

I'm just getting tired of everyone holding still and silent between each line for 30 seconds. Some characters like Andy and Lucy are now portrayed as full on retards as well. Also I've heard the name Dougie more times than I'd care to in a 100 lifetimes.

Fuck off this show is not for you stupid fucking zoomer

can’t even meme about this scene
poor maddy

More like "what did Jason S mean by this". Seriously, the interludes are absolutely fucking insufferable. What the FUCK where they thinking?
Has anyone made an edit of those parts of the extras yet, and if not, why not?

Dunno what to say, user, I'm sorry. The experience was great for me. Maybe you'll change your mind on a rewatch when you no longer have "expectations" and prejudices. I've heard some people came around and enjoyed it a lot more when they gave it another shot.

None of that should really be bothering you. It's probably just not for you

I watched and loved the original 2 seasons, it just seems that Lynch has disappeared up his own ass.

Perhaps, I'll see how it goes.

JASONED

It's just completely out of place. I want to see behind the scenes content, not some random guy's attempt at being artsy in some misguided attempt to try and match the material he's documenting. The shots of landscapes are nice and all but the narration and sound design are just plain bad. Not funny, not clever, nothing. Just redundant at best. Draws attention away from the material that's actually worth seeing, for no reason other than "look i'm being artsy" in entirely the wrong time and place

*HELGA BABY DINO

Was on the same boat as you. Started 3 with high hopes and got very depressed when it delivered 0% of the Twin Peaks I remembered - weirdly homely feel of the woods, charming characters, etc... - and instead went for shitty NY, Las Vegas, etc... It never really went back to "Twin Peaks" but it transformed into something else entirely which I ended up enjoying very much. It's just not "Twin Peaks" a la season 1 and 2.

>tfw listening to man who sold the world and found this thread.

>weirdly homely feel of the woods, charming characters
Seems like we've had similar feelings. The original 2 series were very comfy, kooky and peculiar but in a cosy way. S3 is just a very different show.

AYUDAME!

Yup. If I had to choose the major reason why it'd be due to the locations. Cutting away from twin peaks' secluded world and woods into large cities absolutely guts that peculiar feeling we got from the first seasons. No more small town cherry pie and coffee. If you can get past that, which is admittedly difficult, you'll start to enjoy S3 more and more, especially during later episodes.

It's your fault that Cooper got a bad ending, you've got blood on your hands.

I just watched FWWM last night and didn’t know about any deleted scenes...

Attached: image.jpg (646x595, 200K)

damn I watched seasons 1-2, FWWM and I didn't get S3E01 at all

You're not supposed to, at least not yet. Just keep watching.

the Jeffries stuff also went over my head in FWWM

it didn't help that the new Twin Peaks was done in digital and lacked the great film picture quality of the original. I thought that was a huge part in why the original 2 were so comfy.

Attached: 1496374359676.jpg (500x375, 41K)

the most ridiculous scene in the show

Funny how secrets travel.

>Not when Bob ball gets defeated by a garden glove

is there anything comfier than watching twin peaks when it's freezing outside?

It's called The Missing Pieces. Watch it now. It's FWWM's deleted scenes edited into a feature and it's great. Lynch did it in 2014 when they were already well into writing The Return. Some really good content there.

lynch has been a huge proponent of digital since inland empire

Thinking you have to get it is why you're not getting it. Enjoy it as an audiovisual experience and just let it wash over you.

Shadow

In fact he explicitly said that the books are "Mark's version" of the story, not his.

I’ve been watching scary movies since I was a kid, have been a Lynch fan since my twenties; saw Fire Walk With Me the month before last, and the David Bowie scene absolutely fucked with me. I can’t put into words how or why, but that is sincerely the scariest thing I’ve seen from Lynch. Absolutely nightmare fuel.

Attached: 1550994696800.jpg (1920x1080, 1.27M)

Watch The Return yet?

Attached: 1520012117396.jpg (945x960, 82K)

That was my only real gripe with it. I think film would have made it look and feel so much better, but I still absolutely love it.

Watched it almost immediately after. I think I took a day’s break to recover. The Return was fantastic, of course, but aside from Part 8, not especially scary. Part 8 almost got to where the Bowie scene was in Fire Walk, in terms of overwhelming fear, but it just didn’t get in my head in the same way, pun intended.

source?

>Pitchfork: After making a cameo in 1992’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, David Bowie’s character Phillip Jeffries reappeared in the new series via footage from that film and as a big, talking tea kettle. Did you ever approach Bowie himself to be in the new series?

>David Lynch: Absolutely. I never even talked to him, but I talked to his lawyer, and they weren’t telling me why he said he couldn’t do it. But then, of course, later on we knew.

>Pitchfork: Did Bowie know that his character was going to appear in that capacity?

>Lynch: No, no, no. He didn’t know that. We got permission to use the old footage, but he didn’t want his voice used in it. I think someone must have made him feel bad about his Louisiana accent in Fire Walk With Me, but I think it’s so beautiful. He wanted to have it done by a legitimate actor from Louisiana, so that’s what we had to do. The guy [voice actor Nathan Frizzell] did a great job.

pitchfork.com/thepitch/david-lynch-interview-on-bowie-and-music-that-inspired-the-new-twin-peaks/?mbid=social_twitter

I agree The Return is not that scary overall. I adore it but I have to admit, I wish there was more purely terrifying content in there than there is. Lynch can do it when he wants to, so I guess he didn't really want to. There are a handful of pretty unsettling scenes, though. Strangely enough, I find them scarier when rewatching than I did the first time around. I guess I was too excited or something when I watched it originally.
I think the most disturbing scene for me is actually the one in the Palmer house with Sarah's tortured screaming and moaning off-screen. Also, Sarah's face when she was talking to Hawk at the door really gets me. Goddamn, Grace Zabriskie can be scary

neat, thanks

i miss you /tpg/

The closest that they really got to the trademark Lynch fear was when the Arm mauled the couple that was supposed to be watching the glass box. Everything leading up to Coop’s return from the Black Lodge was pretty damn stressful, that said.

I've never heard the opinion that that's The Arm before, that's interesting.

Attached: bike.png (318x411, 218K)

I might be remembering it wrong, but I’m pretty sure it was literally the Arm doing it.

the arm just has a similar head/mouth but it wasn't him.

Of course the Arm has a doppelgänger too. I’m going to give it a rewatch, but need to save up for a bit before getting the blu-ray

>the Arm mauled the couple that was supposed to be watching the glass box

that scene was absolutely hilarious

I get why Lynch was doing the super lo-fi effects for when the Black Lodge intersects with reality, the whole Lovecraftian ‘things human minds aren’t meant to comprehend,’ but man did that shit nearly take me out of the show several times.

Attached: you.webm (1280x720, 2.93M)

>he didn’t want his voice used in it. I think someone must have made him feel bad about his Louisiana accent in Fire Walk With Me, but I think it’s so beautiful
This made me sad, totally agree with Lynch. Whoever bullied David Bowie about his accent can go fuck themselves.

I can’t deny it.

I can't sympathize at all, I thought the effects were perfect.

it was me and i have no regrets

Attached: ernie niles.png (640x480, 508K)

I enjoyed it, both creepy and funny

Fuck you, Earnie, you pussy whipped little weasel

Same. I think the people who have a problem with them are extremely bluepilled. They think "good effects" need to look like they're real, but the fact is that when you're animating something that isn't real, and that's not supposed to look real, obviously it should look fucking weird. That's the whole point.

>bullying David Bowie
>ever
>for any reason

Ey fuck you buddy

What would be your top 5 part endings, anons?
For me, it's 18, 5, 2, 11, 15

Attached: 1504526693000.jpg (1920x1080, 94K)

1. Part 18
2. Part 1 & 2
3. Part 17
4. Part 16
5. Part 5

Fuck 15, putting an "in memory of" card for a fictional card is hokey shit. Grey's Anatomy did it and it was pathetic then.

Does that ruin the whole credits sequence/ending for you?

Also, it's really a second one for the actress, anyway. I didn't mind it being the character's name at all. It wasn't hokey, it was heartfelt. She really identified with the character. She kept the log the whole time, too

In over 10 years of Yea Forums, being on multiple boards an active poster I can savely say the TPG during The Return was my best time on here.
One of the reasons I'm still around is because it proved to me post-2016chan could still be fun.
Thanks based TPG but most of all thanks based Lynch.

The effect earky ob when a head flues away from someone in a jail cell creeped me out but I haven't watched it since it aired.

Snake Eyes, She’s Gone Away, or Green Onions

She's Gone Away is some of the best work that Reznor's done as Nine Inch Nails in decades. The follow-up releases are easily on its level. Working with David Lynch revitalized his creative energies.

She’s Gone Away could almost be The Returns’ theme song.

>I was there on the day she died

A lot of the music in the show has lyrics very relevant to the story and themes. In fact most, if not all of it does.

True. I guess the thing that differentiates it from the rest of the soundtrack in that way, is in that it depicts the plot of the story in a very raw way. Strips the veneer off of it and reveals the horror in the way that Fire Walk With Me does.

Why do you want a fourth season anyway?

More of a good thing is more of a good thing. Do something nice for yourself every day, man.

But Lynch told the story he wanted to tell. It's complete. Why continue something past it's intended end? The propensity to do so is a huge problem in modern television and film. Everybody wants to beat every dead horse because they're never satisfied with what they've got.
If Lynch had more to give us, I'd gladly accept it, but he made it explicit that part 18 was the end.

To be more elaborate on my feelings, if we get more, then we get more and I'll be happy. But if we don't get more? Then we don't get more and I'll be happy.

It's more a hope that Lynch has another good season in him, but if he doesn't feel that he does, or if he feels like what he's capable of isn't up to snuff, or he won't get the creative freedom he needs and doesn't do another season, then that's okay too.

It's funny how they reused that car for the finale when Cooper wakes up in a different motel

In my opinion no, I think that user was simply mistaken. I've been in so many tp threads and read so many other discussions about it and nobody had ever thought that thing in the box was the arm. It's pretty clear that it was "the experiment"

Also I'd bet $5 Madchen definitely fucked Lynch, especially given how many scenes she got in The Return.

That was definitely Judy, it just made me have the idea that perhaps The Arm will eventually become a new Judy or some weird timeloop will have The Arm become the original Judy. Kek, it's just strange how the head part of the tree looks like Judy

>Judy

Attached: judy.jpg (760x661, 75K)

The entire ending of The Return (end of part 17 + part 18) is one of the most unsettling things I've ever seen. Once Cooper's superimposed face appeared it feels like you're sucked into this desolate nightmare that just gets bleaker and bleaker. The fact that it's a complete inversion of the comfy and wholesome atmosphere of the original series makes it all the more devastating. The Return didn't have any traditional horror scenes like Lynch's earlier works but overall it got to me more.

Not to mention watching Cooper's famous confidence slowly waning until he's so out of his depth that he can only ask what year it is.

Completely agree

What’s up doc? Just a few words before I go to sleep. I feel like I’m going to dream tonight. Big bad ones. You know, the kind you like. Its easier talking into the recorder. I guess I feel I can say anything. All my secrets. The naked ones. I know you like those doc. I know you like me too. That’ll be my little secret, okay? Just like your coconut. Why is it so easy to make men like me? And I don’t even have to try very hard. Maybe, if it was harder.

Do you know anything about David Lynch as a person? He's the sweetest, most loving and earnest person I've ever seen. When you see him with Madchen, or Kyle, or any of the cast, you can tell there's so much genuine love between them. Did he fuck Madchen? Possibly. If they did, why is that a bad thing?
Her character in the show is an immature drama queen with horrible taste in men. So what? You judge the actor based on the traits of the characters they play? She seems like a wonderful person irl. You, on the other hand, seem like an angry, miserable person.
>inb4 white knighting
This has nothing to do with her, this is about you and trying to show you the error of your ways, so that maybe you can shape up and be a happier, more positive energy for the benefit of those around you.

What was the true relationship between Mr C and BOB? Who was in charge? To me feels like Mr C was able to manipulate the lodge mechanics and the spirits to his own gain like Windom Earle wanted to do, except he actually pulled it off.

It seemed to me like DoppelCooper was in charge, and BOB was just asking for the ride, enjoying all the garmonbozia

I really like how Mr. C's passive affect is the opposite of Dougie's. Mr. C degrades goodness, and those he's had an effect on come to bad ends. Dougie, however, brings out goodness in those around him, leading them to satisfying, happy endings. Really unifying the theme of just how much of an influence one person can have on their surroundings.

>reading any of Frost's fanfiction
I don't disregard his contribution to twin peaks and how much he shaped the core story, but if it weren't for Lynch the show would have been a literal soap opera. We've seen what twin peaks looks like without Frost, though, because he basically had zero involvement with the return, and it turned out fucking amazing.
I've heard some of the bullshit he wrote in his books, and they legitimately ruin everything by explaining everything. A huge part of what makes twin peaks so special is the mystery and the weirdness, all of the unexplainable things. Frost clearly doesn't understand that.

FWWM is 4 hours long, studios threw a fit, Lynch's future wife edited it down to theatrical 2 hours 20 minutes and fucked up screen titles to make the timelines smoother. He divorced her in 2008 in a rage and immediately edited and released The Missing Pieces himself out of spite.

The missing pieces ruins the scene above the convenience store by making it coherent (thus catering to frostfags who want to solve it like a puzzle)

North Bend Bar and Grill is top notch.

It doesn't and I agree with you. I enjoyed it for what it is but it's not Twin Peaks.

I just marathoned S2 of the OA today, whole thing. I'm the guy who calls everyone a Bozo and speaks of the DLCU. I say to you now that that shit was a major ripoff, stole heavily, and on over 100 separate occasions I laughed at how it's just a typical brainlet serving up literal interpretations for brainlets. Early on I knew the key was to integrate. Bored myself to sleep and dreamed of a better show. Woke up to this thread.

The entire ~30 years of Twin Peaks has just been to set up Ronnie Rocket, the thing you call "season 4".

I unironically liked OA S1

The S2 trailer didn't fill me with confidence but I'll try that shit out

I loved this scene, and it's one that really stuck with me after the ending, reminds me of the older scenes like Mairzy Doats or the thumbs up from the waiter.

The Arm came from Judy, her power level is equal to or greater than MIKE's whose power is greater than BOB's. MIKE + The Arm is greater power than MIKE in FWWM.

The Arm is a derivative of MIKE. He too was marked by the devilish one (Judy)—a tattoo on the left shoulder. Took the whole fucking arm off. For one purpose: to separate into a Lodge-based entity and greater daimon, fit to roam everywhere from convenience store to earthly realms to lodges and boiler rooms.

The tattoo said "MOTHER". Judy is mother. Not red herring after all. Mother did it not father. Judy's legion forms anyway. Jumping Man / white horse / Sarah Palmer's creepy voice / the grinning black & white teeth.

Grinning black & white teeth proves she's Mr. Magic btw, Judy is the final boss of DLCU.

Attached: TwinPeaksVoltron.webm (1536x832, 2.99M)

GOTALIGHT?

DCLU shit or not, that's actually pretty enlightening. I honestly never made the connection between Gerard's 'Mom' tattoo and Judy by way of MIKE's 'Fire Walk With Me' tattoo.

It doesn't say "fire walk with me". International pilot / 1x03 MIKE–Gerard clearly says he had a tattoo on the left shoulder, marked by the devilish one, etc.

Anything to do with MIKE you have to watch your commas. Commas are effeminate and Lynch will fuck you like a bitch. Cooper says the next morning, downstairs at the Great Northern, in describing the dream: "tattoo on the left shoulder…fire walk with me". Those are two different flashes from the dream, MIKE telling him about the tattoo and him telling him earlier his sick slam poetry about quantum slipstream drifting. He never said what the tattoo was and Cooper couldn't even remember what Laura said, it was already slipping away in the hotel room.

>it's not Twin Peaks
It's literally as Twin Peaks as Twin Peaks could be, in 2017. It was made by the creator of the original. What you think of as Twin Peaks is, in reality, not Twin Peaks. It was a corruption of Twin Peaks.

youtube.com/watch?v=9rK9ldJd1TY

Right again. Just out of the blue, what do you make of the Tremonds/Chalfonts? To me, they don't seem like Black Lodge 'residents' like MIKE and BOB (once the meeting's over, they're the only two entities that return to the Lodge), and seem to be serving Judy directly just like the Woodsmen.

They 'spirit away' Chester Desmond, prompting Dale Cooper to take over the investigation once Laura is killed and eventually unleashing the hybrid Coop doppelganger/BOB gestalt entity which would eventually work to unleash its mother JUDY in the material universe using the glass box; they give the Doorway Painting to Laura, which makes her dream of the Black Lodge and plants the idea in her head to wear the Jade Ring and get killed by BOB, consigning her soul to the Lodge instead of letting herself get possessed, obliterating both herself and BOB just like The Fireman supposedly planned; they direct Donna to Harold Smith, aiding Cooper's investigation into Laura's death and his subsequent entry into the Black Lodge and the creation of the DoppelBOB entity. Finally they appear in the S3 finale as the final 'gatekeepers' to Judy in the 'pocket Judy/Laura prison universe'.

Jesus christ, they're like the most important villains in this entire series.

Chinese ketamine is higher quality than this

If Lynch and Frost kept almost everything the same but changed the character names and renamed the series and then came out like a year later giving hints the series was related to Twins Peaks it would have been kino. I enjoyed The Return, but it was not Twin Peaks and it never could be. Lynched Mob fags can seethe all they want. Twin Peaks' atmosphere and mood came from the time and place when it was produced and the state of the industry in the early 90s, it cannot exist outside of that context.

There are way too many to list them all but one that came to mind is Gordon in the hotel room with the French woman. I've watched the season 3 times so far and each time I still laugh so fucking hard at Gordon's reactions to the woman's mannerisms and whatnot as she's gathering herself to leave when Albert shows up.
David Lynch is such a goddam national treasure.

Nah, if you compare doppelcoop pre-BOB to post-BOB, you see that he was a literal husk of a man before BOB joined him. BOB used doppelcoop as a vessel for his own designs, taking advantage of the stellar reputation of Cooper in Twin Peaks to sow maximum amounts of suffering before fucking off

They were obviously buddies in The Black Lodge at the end of S2. They both wanted out, and they worked together. DoppelCoop was obviously in control of himself, while BOB was simply dormant and feasting on all of the garmonbozia DoppelCoop harvested through his mischief. It was a win win and they were working together, but BOB wasn't "possessing" him like he was Leland.

My favorite quote is from Fire Walk with Me. As Leo is leaving the cabin, Laura ask him to untie her. He responds SHUT UP as loud as he can. I love Lynch

Yeah the term "surface" came to mind several times, kept picturing Lynch making fun of inferior forms of meditation and saying that the depths they allow one to achieve are just so..."surface, man" with utter contempt.

I dunno that scene's important and The Grandson and The Grandmother are important. Why is that scene? Why do they descend from pure air, taking the form of animal life from molecules, and take a meeting in the convenience store? What About BOB?

I have no idea what time it is outside that convenience store, there could be wild Injuns everywhere. But what time is it inside? Why does MIKE / Arm / "Man" have a look of frightenedness on his face when BOB firewalks them into the Lodge? And then The Grandmother is like "and so time moves on", clearly she perceives this time issue. The Grandson tells BOB "fell a victim" but is it the imperative or is he saying this fucker is going to / has gone shit-wild?

It's way before BOB steals the corn, the corn is right there. It could even be the moment BOB steals the corn. It could be February 16, 1989, when BOB stole the corn. And The Arm could have come off around that time, even if Lodge-time and Zone-time were different. Gerard was seen by some Boy Scout in the 1920s in the woods with The Fireman, missing his arm.

Yeah I didn't read all of it, reading more. Their malevolence seems anything but explicit. The incursion that led Cooper to take the investigation was necessary to deliver the package. The package was primed only by way of successful delivery of the ring. Laura had to be in the Lodge, that's white-face LiteBrite Laura, charg'd with double cracks by The Fireman and his golden dome.
