>The Last Kingdom
>Spartacus
>Black Sails
>Da Vinci's Demons
Why are they both comfy AND good? They manage to have both great writting, plots and stuff, plus a whole lot of action. Pure mankino. What else should be added to the list? Would stuff like Tudors, Borgias and Wolf Hall appeal to someone who likes the afformentioned series?

I liked both.
Try "The Terror" and "Rome" of course. "Vikings" was good for a while there but got shit. "Sharpe" is of course top-tier comfort viewing.
There's a few WW! short films on youtube that are quite good though maybe not set as long ago as you want.
i'm smoking CBD oil for this new taquito diet, it's helping me feel in touch with nature and sort of in contact with nature
Wolf Hall is very, very good, but is also very slow and dry as it's far more politics based. Tudors, while it has some very good individual performances, is just a soap opera where the writer admitted he wasn't concerned with historical accuracy.
>Try "The Terror" and "Rome" of course.
Seen them.
>"Vikings" was good for a while there but got shit.
Dropped it after S2.
>"Sharpe" is of course top-tier comfort viewing.
The 1.5 hour running times break it for me; I have no time for movies anymore. Plus, the quality's really a struggle to get through.
>There's a few WW! short films on youtube that are quite good though maybe not set as long ago as you want.
Nah, I like Knights and Rogues and stuff like that. I like Soldier-Stuff, but only in "Larger than life" settings. WW2 does nothing for me.
Uthred of Bebenber is also low-key the best on-screen portrayal of a sword/sandal style fantasy hero I think I've seen.
I know he's a historical figure (SORT OF) but he strikes me more like your typical chosen by the gods destined to defeat the dark lord whoeverthefuck type lead character but it doesn't come across as goofy, it really works.
>Wolf Hall is very, very good, but is also very slow and dry as it's far more politics based.
I see.
>Tudors, while it has some very good individual performances, is just a soap opera where the writer admitted he wasn't concerned with historical accuracy.
Ah, so it's that kind of show.
AFAIK there aren't any magical elements to the show. If there are, it'll seriously ruin my enjoyment of it. I really don't like magic.
Not a show, I know, but how about "They shall never grow old"? That's certainly larger than life WW1 kino.
The Tudors and borgias are not really the same thing. They're more like historical soap operas. Lots of tits to see though
By "LTL" I meant the 'Murica, FUCK Yeah! 2000s-Era stuff with Operators, Spies and the like. Or whatever's set in the "near future", with cyborgs and stuff. So, y'know, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear, that kind. Yeah, I have Generation Kill downloaded.
From the trailers Tudors seemed as if it was gonna have some fights and stuff, and I figured Borgias was House Of Cards: Vatican Edition.
>AFAIK there aren't any magical elements to the show. If there are, it'll seriously ruin my enjoyment of it. I really don't like magic.
I gets mentioned and there are curses of dubious effectivness.
It fits the time and the setting - if you believe someone is a witch or a "cunning woman" and she "curses" you then you likely start blaming your bad luck on the curse.
AFAIK it doesn't get stupid or magical even when there's a "witch" in it.
GENERATIO- oh
Okay I haven't watched this aside from clips on youtube but "The Young Pope" seems interesting - TV show about the first American Pope and how he rubs against traditional Vatican practices.
Starring Jude Law as the Pope.
Yeah, that I get. I'm just saying, if Odin starts showing up like in Vikings, well... I don't mind it that much when it's clearly a Fantasy setting like Witcher, which is more Cryptids & Alchemy than Occult. I'm just generally not a fan of magic. I've always considered it cheating and nonsense.
>The Young Pope
Yeah, I've seen it. I'm watching John Adams too.
they are not comfy
they are not good
they are not historical
go fuck yourself and grow some fucking taste nigger
You know that you're as bad as the faggot who goes to Mad Men threads and posts "soap opera", right? You can enjoy slow burn dramas and action shows.
>>Black Sails
shit
Tudors has like literally one battle sequence, it's pretty good, but also towards the end of the show
indeed
you can
if they are good
now go fuck yourself and grow some taste
Hornblower
Yeah I think it's the fantasy equivelent of time travel - Unless it's explained very thourghly and is fairly simple, it will probably just make people roll their eyes when some bullshit out of nowhere resolves whatever plot issue.
I need to watch John Adams.
"The Crown" is worth a watch if you're interested in British Royalty (And even if you're not the sets and clothing are pretty brilliant with some choice British history as the backdrop)
Not seen it myself but I'm always being rccomended "I, Claudius" as a must-see Imperial Roman era show.
Generally I just don't like magic because... It's just silly. Eating someone's heart and chanting some words ain't gonna turn you into a beast man. I have no problem with sci-fi, because there's a basis in reality. But I just cannot get into magic and the like. Even Fantasy is sometimes too much for me.
>The Crown
I watched the first season and half of the second. I got bored eventually.
Based lindy
try Rome or for alternate-history The man in the high castle
btw Black Sailss was a mixture of pirate tales and IRL pirates, not exactly historical
>>The Young Pope
fuck i read The Young Pepe
