Family Guy was hilarious at its peak (seasons 1-3), the writing was sharp as hell and the gags kept coming and coming and coming.
Then South Park does a parody episode of it and all of the sudden the internet jumped on the "fuck family guy manatee show" bandwagon.
Watch "prime Simpsons" (seasons 1-10) and so much of the humor is dated and legit cringe/cornball ('DOH, MMM DONUTS, COWABUNGA DUDE, EAT MY SHORTS, WHY U LITTLE, DON'T HAVE A COW MAN, etc.). Klassic Senpai Guy was much wittier.
Family Guy's greatest season was the one immediately after uncancellation.
Josiah Martin
Family Guy is good. I know it's popular to hate this show now, but people misinterpret what the point of Family Guy is. The show isn't supposed to be cerebral, artistic, or intellectually challenging. It's supposed to be 30 minutes of stupid characters doing dumb shit and it all gets wrapped up in a nice bow at the end. FG is a show to have up in the background while you eat lunch. Lighten up and learn to enjoy something, faggots.
Camden Johnson
family guy gets shit because of its utter lack of jewishness
People were already dismissing Family Guy way before the South Park episode. I remember me and my friends used to be all about that shit but by the time the Manatee episode none of us were even watching it anymore.

Family Guy just doesn't have anything comparable to S11E5 of the Simpsons.
Parker Flores
Was it because you didn't like the new season at the time or had you already stopped liking it before it came back?
Colton James
Then South Park does a parody episode of it and all of the sudden the internet jumped on the "fuck family guy manatee show" bandwagon.
It was derided as a witless Simpsons knock-off before it ever aired. Prior to gaining an audience through Adult Swim rerurns Family Guy was considered trash.
All I can remember is everyone around me dropping it little by little almost simultaneously. We'd also sometimes joke around Seth Mcfarlane's typical cliches that have to be repeated every time.

after a long time of insisting i unambiguously hated family guy after the age of 14, i finally went on youtube and watched a couple early season clips the other day. some of the stuff i found funny was, of course, awful (anybody reflecting on their 14 y/o self could say the same), but i concede that parts had some comedic merit and clever writing. i'd still put it toward the bottom of any network animated TV series list, though, below KOTH, The Simpsons, American Dad, Futurama, etc.
Logan Parker
Not that the new episodes are better but I watched recently an early episode that was on Tv and it was very bad and looked cheap, it’s just Peter falling down and saying “aah” and the baby yelling “victory is mine”.
Nicholas Scott
Seth Macfarlane is a run of the mill leftist but drops jew bombs all over his shows and his oscar hosting gig. he's a brave man in some ways
Alexander Gray
I am occasionally impressed by how provocative some episodes are. Depending on the writer the show can really shine. Structurally speaking it was the best early on, especially when Stewie spent all of his effort in futile attempts to kill Louis. At some point he became a morally grey genius gadget character. Stewie and Brian episodes are functionally identical to Rick and Morty.
Juan Robinson
Way to miss the point. The screencap is from a skit where Hitler committed the Holocaust because an alpha jew mogged him, and he had white women groveling at his feet. Kys goober.
MacFarlane's not a Nazi, he's not going to side with Hitler for fuck's sakes. But he's still pointing out very clearly in that video the power jews have, which is something that is simply not done in Hollywood for the most part
Christopher Morris
Reminder Family Guy ultimately aged like wine, unlike South Park or Simpsons.
Joseph Campbell
Slapstick and visual gags age better than topical gags and contemporary pop culture references. Not much to be done about that.
Nathan Stewart
This is worse than the Korgoth pasta

Family Guy had only one genuinely good episode, which was completely tarnished by the last line.
Landon Long
You're objectively wrong about The Simpsons. If you think most of the jokes are catchphrase based you're wrong. The humor is way more dated in Family Guy because it's much more referential.
Gavin Lopez
the difference is family guy's peak was like 20 years ago and south park still has good episodes and sometimes even good seasons
Jacob Jenkins
>Watch "prime Simpsons" (seasons 1-10) and so much of the humor is dated and legit cringe/cornball You must be over 18 to post on this website
Nolan Ross
1st season Family Guy has a very odd but charming atmosphere to it. Good pacing. Everything after that has been close to worthless
Wyatt Anderson
The Show was never funny, it never really had a peak since the quality of the show was always so bad It's just shitty cutaway gags and it relies too heavily on pop culture references for comedic effect but it always fails Almost none of the characters are funny or likeable Also i hope this is a meme, what you're saying OP is really fucking funny
Adam Bennett
Family Guy season 1-3 is hilarious and highly rewatchable
Charles Collins
And you're not going to tell us what the fuck you're talking about?
Matthew Murphy
>Chris: Dad, what if I told you I don't want to be in the scouts any more? >Peter: I'd say "Come again?". And then I'd laugh, because I said the word come. But thank god that's not the case!
Charles King
Too bad those seasons look like utter dogshit. Not even in an endearingly shitty way like Dr Katz or Home Movies. It just looks the inconsistent scribblings of a very very dumb, crude person.
Sebastian Cook
>this episode was considered too offensive and antisemitic by fox, they refused to air it really makes you think
You're just trying to divide early family guy bros and classic simpsons bros. I love both. Also the South Park parody is funny
Kayden White
is there a worse opinion than this
Adrian Evans
Its not Seth, its jewish writers. On the commentary for When you wish Upon a Weinstein, they talk about it with Seth. They say something like (paraphrasing) >Yeah we could make fun of everyone under the sun, but making fun of our own religion was too far? That's a bullshit double standard.
Aaron Morris
I agree as well, shallow and pedantic.
Austin Harris
Family guy is probably one of the more consistent in their comedy than other adult cartoons. FG just throws shit at the wall. Sometimes something sticks.
Jordan Ward
S1-S3 of Family Guy really hammered the family sitcom parody conceit, which is why it was so great. It was after the cancellation, when it had finally earned popularity, that the show became a vehicle for pop-culture cutaway gags, and then after they wore those out they shifted to just be pastiches or homages of different genres every week.
Jack Turner
I never got the appeal of Simpsons either.
James Wright
SP dropped hard around the end of 18 season. After that it's a hot mess.
Luis Sanchez
Season 4 had some of the best episodes though like Petarded.
Family guy does a way better job at being a shitty post golden-era show than the Simpsons and South Park. At the very worst the episodes are entertaining enough to sit through. A shitty Simpson's or SP episode is fucking unbearably boring.
Leo Perez
Family Guy only really got good around season 9-10.
If you think the original run was good/better than it is today, you're a retard who can't think for yourself, and more than that you can't even have original -kinds- of thoughts.
Landon Roberts
That's fucking based, good writers.
David Sanchez
I've always thought Family Guy was funny. Haven't seen a lot of the later seasons, but the first ones were great, and a lot of what came was still consistently funny.
Hating it is a meme, I think.
Sebastian Martinez
The meme started with the South park, around the time when everyone started jumping on it (when it started to get shitty) Everyone who jumped on to SP at the time thought they had "superior taste" for hating in family guy because the show told them to. It was the fucking Rick and morty of that period.
Jordan Rodriguez
First 3 seasons of family guy are among the best animated comedy produced. There's a reason if kept getting brought back. Mad how completely fucked it became.
Did anyone see Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy or whatever it was called? It was fucking tragic. Seth Macfarlane has no idea when a joke is naturally over, no sense of timing at all. Just reference the work of others in a wacky voice and drop in cuhrazee drugs and/or sex references for an extra dose of real crafted hilarity
Asher Collins
>Family Guy 1 - 3 good, rest bad >Simpsons 1 - 10 good, rest bad >Rick & Morty 3 bad >Bojack Horseman keeps getting bad
I keep noticing these opinions, they always seems to focus on a single aspect that made the ealier show good but overlook others, especially good aspects of the "bad" seasons.
How much were you a fan of these shows to begin with and how much were you affected by popular opinion?
