I personally prefer the old Scorsese (Mean streets, I call first, etc.)

Those the Irishman have any chance of being good?

It has de Niro AND al Pacino, so I guess it'll be decent at least. But I hope it's a kind of homage to goodfellas and that kind of style.

i sincerely hope so, i need fresh cosa nostra kino

Is there even a release date? And it should, SHOULD be the best Netflix movie made

Old, but I'm not one of those that thinks his newer stuff is no good: It's still great.

De Niro.

>De Niro in 2019
Have you seen the shit he's been making? He's not exactly Travis Bickle material anymore.

2019, but it's in post-production already.

I think it will still be good, Scorsese has wanted to make it for almost twenty years and he doesn't make shitty movies, I think the issue is that while it'll be good we'll be able to distinguish what it would have been like had it been made when the actors weren't so fucking old and were in their acting primes.

I know, but a man has to have hope user.

The Departed. Not because I think it's his best or because I'd only watch this if I had only one Scorcese film to ever be able to watch again. Rather, because it's the one I'm most likely to rewatch.

Silence is incredible. New wins by its virtue.
>>Harvey Keitel vs Robert de Niro
In a Scorsese film, De Niro. Outside one, Keitel.

De Niro

Silence was pretty damn good imo, but all the press seemed to hate it because of the religious theme tho. And I think that Scorses's soul is the struggle between religion and mob stuff, so it was quite his thing.

yeah it was a main theme in mean streets

damn, am I the only one who prefers keitel or what?

Probably. De Niro was once on the greatest actors of all time when he actually cared about acting and many of his best performances, like Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and King of Comedy, were in Scorsese films.

I like Keitel but chose De Niro. Just think they were on to something special in late 70s early 80s and De Niro felt more like Scorsese's actor avatar than Keitel. De Niro seemed to be animated by some of the same things artistically and was on the same page as Scorsese working through his obsessions.

Would also be interesting to do this thread with choice between De Niro and DiCaprio. Scorsese's reteaming with Leo for Killers of the Flower Moon and a movie about Teddy Roosevelt

DiCaprio doesn't put out the kind of performances that De Niro could, but he must be great to work with. Not the same kind of talent, but the right kind of working personality.

Righteous Kill was horrible.

i really enjoyed Silence and put it in the same tier as Casino and Goodfellows.

Departed goodfellas taxi driver aviator casino. Thats the order

I want another jazzy score

what a coincidence that i am now encountering this Thread.

I just saw "Raging Bull" for the first Time 30 minutes ago.
i would give it a 4 out of 5 Stars.
i liked the Movie. but the ending was a little disappointing, it could have been better.
my favorite scene is when Jake supposed to lose the fight but struggles with that because he is to proud and breaks down crying in the locker room. really powerfull scene.

Yesterday i watched Cape Fear.
4,5 / 5
Sometimes i tought its a Comedy:

i laughed so hard at that scene because it was so absurdly.

whats the thing with Scorsese and underage girls ?

the topic is quite common in his films

wrong link, i meant the scene where DeNiro rides underside the Family Car

After having read the script, I can't imagine The Irishman having Mark Twain-style narration in it.

One of the strongest aspects of The Departed was the fact that Costigan frequently managed to sound like Huck Finn.
