Moreso than being a black jew, what irritated me the most about this moron is that he prefers The Public Enemy over Scarface. What a disgusting pleb faggot

>muh Jimmy Cagney is modernity
STFU

You're a real fag if you don't think The Public Enemy is better than Scarface. De Palma's Scarface is better.

Not even close, Hawks' version is perfect. De Palma's pales in comparison, the man is a Hitchcock wannabe and little else. Public Enemy is an interesting curio with a great lead and a wonderful ending, but doesn't have the meat. Scarface feels like a real gangster movie, Public Enemy is just "Cagney does crazy shit: the Movie" and lacks cohesion.

as if he even gave a shit after he fucked meadow.
he knew that the family was trash when he met Tony.

>Mutt child
>considering other families trash
lmao

Cagney's charisma carries the movie to greatness. Muni's better film is I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang. The original Scarface is only remembered for inspiring the 80's one. No one can touch Cagney.

he was obviously very smart and talented and came from a good family.
he wasn't a dumb nigger.

I'm as disgusted by bookworms who spurn physical vitality just as much as I'm disgusted by the opposite. My daughter had better bring home a well-read savage and not some dork or meathead.

He was a pretentious twat who knew some big words.

Who Little Caesar here

>The original Scarface is only remembered for inspiring the 80's one
Yeah, by the same people who don't even know "The Public Enemy" even exists. Who gives a fuck what plebs remember, Scarface is the best ganger film of the golden age

I think you go too far with your shitting on the original Scarface, but The Public Enemy and The Roaring Twenties both were clearly superior, as is Cagney as an actor generally compared to Muni (and many others).
>Edward G. Robinson would've been vastly preferable to Paul Muni as Scarface, in my opinion.

He was a wealthy Jew and that was it.

Roaring Twenties is really underrated. That and Angels with Dirty Faces are often mentioned together, but I think Roaring Twenties is way better. Angels has a great ending though.

I've had trouble finding a copy of Angels with Dirty Faces with my usual methods. I might have to bite the bullet and just order the Blu Ray, sight unseen. I highly doubt I'm going to be disappointed.

I got it through Netflix's DVD service, which is still probably the best way to see movies. I didn't like it enough to own it, but it's Cagney, he can make anything worth watching.

Ha, that is also what I generally use. Angels with Dirty Faces has been sitting in my Saved (but unavailable) queue for like two years. Maybe you still have it, you bastard

Sorry, not me. Guess somebody else nabbed it. With those movies I guess they sometimes get down to passing a single disc all around the country. One time I did an experiment where they send me a faulty disc of The Best Years of Our Lives, and I sent it back, added it to my queue again, and I got the same disc.

Kind of sad that we've been reduced to this. I used to just go to Blockbusters, fml.

They probably run it four times a year on Turner Classic Movies.

>Muni's better film is I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang
and Cagney's better film is White Heat

>black jew
it's hasidic homeboy, get it right

Turner Classic Movies is the best channel on television.
>tfw Hallmark is now #2

I saw Best Years of Our Lives on the big screen at Alamo Drafthouse. Great film

ITS "IN LIEU OF"

Since this is the classic movie thread, I'm going to shill for this supremely underrated movie. I love it so much, and you should all see it. Henry Fonda in the role he originated on Broadway, James Cagney when he's older, William Powell came out of retirement to play his part because he loved the play so much, and it's the role that made Jack Lemmon a star.

It's nearly three hours long, but it feels like an hour and a half. I wish more people knew about it.

LOL NO ITS LITERALLY NOT

THEY SOUND SIMILAR BUT DONT MEAN THE SAME THING AT ALL

KEEP IT SIMPLE CAT THE 5 DOLLAR WORDS ARE A DIAMOND DOZEN

>He finally got to the top of the world... so we blew up half the town to kill him

It's one of my favorite movies. I wish they'd release it on Blu-ray.

He was in good shape though, just had a stupid haircut and dumb glasses. If he shaved his head, got contacts, and wore a leather jacket he’d look like one of Tony’s goons

Okay I'll bite, what's the recent events?

There are no recent events. This isn't the thread for you.

Tell me or I'll throw a temper tantrum.

nah he looks way too beta, irl the guy looked chad somewhat

There are tons of classic films I wish they'd release on Blu-ray

>De Palma's Scarface is better.

This one doesn't even have a DVD release. I had to catch it on TCM and it was fantastic. It has that really famous shot of an office drone in a seemingly endless room full of office drones. Billy Wilder and Orson Welles both paid tribute to it in The Apartment and The Trial.

I don't understand what's taking so long for that to happen, unless it's a question of film rights. Surely there is a global market for it.

I can usually find a torrent or some other download, or if not I can get bootleg copies of old movies on ebay, etsy and other sites. That's how I picked up this one

Never heard of it. Lombard was such a great actress though. It's a travesty she died so young.

Based Orson. Chimes at Midnight is probably my all-time favorite film.

A great actress she was. She wasn't hard on the eyes, either.

I read the book Fireball, it was pretty damn interesting. Learned a lot about both Carole and how she died
