They were market leaders due to their popularity, but never pioneers. MP3 players were out long before ipod, Microsoft had a Windows XP tablet before ipad, etc. They got lucky with people liking their fashionable designs and exclusivity. Their phones have been copies of Chinese smartphones for years, they basically get a list of parts and features available from Foxconn and "designed" a phone using those parts. They hardly invented anything themselves. What they are doing now is the same as they always done.
I think Disney will be successful because they have their library and brand pull, but Apple has been slowly losing their appeal over the past few years and have not really proved themselves in streaming or given much reason for people to buy their service in a quickly inundated market. It will be a tough sell.
I was fortunate to buy one of the last iMacs in 2011 you can open up and mod or repair the basic shit without needing a heat gun and tubes of epoxy to seal it back up. 12gb ram it still runs CC 2018 smoothly and that's all I really use it for.
