Is Fast Times At Ridgemont High the only good 80s coming-of-age comedy? It seemed like the only big one to actually treat the story like a slice of life and not just have a bunch of overly wacky shit happen to characters who are just mouthpieces for 40 year old Jewish screenwriters like a John Hughes movie
Phoebe Cates is also very cute

It's not really that funny but it is an extremely good slice of life type movie
The breakfast club is absolutely insufferable, this should be the more popular one

Fast Times is one of my favorite movies, have you not seen Stand By Me?

"The Wild Life" is my favorite. Burned a DVD of my tape several years ago just so I never loose it.

>Go in expecting wacky comedy and hijinks
>Halfway through someone gets knocked up and gets an abortion

Lucas (1986)

I was pleasantly surprised that Sean big nose Penn had a minor role.

>loose

how did he go from this to playing harvey milk?

I'm realaly tired

> It seemed like the only big one to actually treat the story like a slice of life
That's because a large part of it is actually slice of life. It's based on a nonfiction book by Cameron Crowe (who also made Almost Famous essentially as an autobiography), where he went undercover as a high school student, wrote about it, and changed the names. In real life, the nerd that dated the girl JJL's based on turned out be the author of Windows for Dummies.

Comfy read, I'd recommend it.

It's shitty. The movie even frames abortion as "not a big deal".

The movie is racist. There is one black guy and he is shown as being incredibly angry and violent.

The real life Spicoli probably thought Crowe was a narc. When I was in hs, anyone who looked remotely over 18 we thought was a narc.

Everybody in that pic related is dead now.

Dazed and Confused is fun.

This is true. It had that effect on me.

>The movie is realistic. There is one black guy and he is shown as being incredibly angry and violent.
ftfy

I thought it was refreshing
I was expecting it to be the cornerstone of Act 3 and have this big dramatic sequence where the nerd kid cucks out and pays for her abortion or something, but instead she just does it and there's a fairly touching moment where her Brother ends up being there for her. It was just a minor event instead of the worst thing that ever happened to her in her entire life

I could feel this post building up to insulting The Breakfast Club

no they aint retard

Pure liberal brainwashing.

>murder your unborn child
>your family will still love you
>friends and society too
Yuck. Look, I'm a huge consumer whore with video games and movies from the 40's-90's, but that film is overrated crapola.

Best girl coming through.

That tummy is made for cumming on

It's legendary for a reason. And that would be that reason.

Hijinks mixed with soul-crushing gut punches.

>having sex in high school
Enough of these movies with absurd plots.

that dude's lower lip has always bugged the fuck out of me

was this guy in the shield?

That scene gave me anxiety.

"The Wild Life" is pure kino

Yeah, it mindfucked me too for the first time I got laid, afraid I'd be a two-pump chump. Instead, the fucking condom made it take forever.

>Girl goes out with a scrawny nerd to some shitty german restaurant then all but forces him to fuck her
Totally lost me desu

OH, AND DON'T COME BY THE STORE, YOU'RE BANNED

Her Vic Morrow face is spoopy.

GET OFF MY CASE MOTHERFUCKER

This one was good too.

So was this, the ending especially. Shit, did any other 80s comedies have an unhappy ending? Nope.

This, satanic propaganda.

Spicoli is one of the best characters ever created for film, sometimes I wish we got a sequel just for more of him.

I went to a fear concert just a couple of months ago desu

ALRIGHT HAMILTON

Such a satisfying conclusion for his arc after getting shit on the whole movie

Why does she look like Kerin Portillo?

You mean Lee Ving is...... Alive?

thinking about those tits

Rip

t. 21 Jump Street

It's about normalizing abortion, so no.
