I wonder if we'll ever get the IMAX version of this movie to take home, when I saw it in 2D after seeing it in IMAX3D I was kinda surprised to see just how much of the screen they cut off for the normal widescreen theatrical aspect ratio when a full IMAX screen is very close to 4:3. Like so much of the frame is cut off if you were to start with the IMAX version you probably wouldn't have much of the image to crop.

My opinion is that it is quite good. Much better than Hershey's. Half the Hershey's bar is food-grade wax and not chocolate. Chocolate is supposed to melt in your mouth and hand, at body temperature. Hershey's has to get warmer. Good sign in general to tell if chocolate is quality or not, if it melts fairly easily.

Our food regulations are only related to making sure food doesn't have bugs or feces or whatever in it, isn't dirty, isn't contaminated or spoiled, and won't kill you. No regulations on health, nutrition, or texture/flavor quality.

Mate, I wanted to ride a 3-4 hours bus to another city to watch Alita in IMAX, but decided not to because I would spend more money on the road than on a movie ticket.

IMAX is a format meant for massive domes that take up nearly your entire field of view, there are very view genuine IMAX domes out there and many of the genuine domes don't show feature films on them but nature documentaries. I luckily I happen to live only 43 miles from an honest to goodness full-sized IMAX dome that does show movies, so I always make sure I go and try to etch onto my brain all the stuff in the margins that will be forever lost to the theatrical aspect ratio.

The IMAX version's aspect ratio changes from scene to scene. I noticed the interiors of Ido's place were regular-theater ratio, for instance. I saw it in IMAX twice.

Besides IMAX documentaries, the only movie I know of that ever had an IMAX-ratio home release was Transformers 2. It was a Walmart exclusive called the Big Screen version. Anyone know of any others?

Depends on what exactly the sequel would cover, it the sequel is only Zapan + the rest of Motorball the sequel would likely be only 3/4ths what the first one was.

I wonder how detailed their model of Zalem currently is, since it's up there in the first movie, and every building seems modeled. Can't imagine that detailed, some of the buildings are probably hollow, only made what was necessary. They had to build an entire CG Iron City, I bet Zalem would cost about the same amount.

This, the last time I felt that way watching a movie was Lord of the fucking Rings Fellowship of the Ring after pretty much being a lifelong fan. It was everything I wanted it to be and it was beautiful.

What do I know? At first it felt like a usual action flick and the fight scenes had a more brutal bite to it. But there's also something about the film that feels somewhat... homely. I can't put my finger on it. I'm not sure if it was intentional or a fluke on the director's part, but Alita's excitement seeing the city for the first time, gleeing over her first chocolate, casually petting a dog, enjoying violent boyish sports, falling in love for the first time, it all feels like looking into a window of a cyberpunk world but this time through the perspective of a tomboy girl, which I've never seen movies nowadays tried to explore much before. It overwhelms you with feelings of youth and nostalgia. When that orchestral soundtrack plays as they looked at the cyberpunk from the top of the church, it is calming.

The whole build up to it is what makes it so satisfying. She's at the moment where it seems all is lost, she manages to get out his grip by punching his arm, the music starts swelling up, and she thrusts off the ground and fucking slams right into his eye.
