Young Jean Grey arrives at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters after accidentally causing her parents’ death in a car accident.
1992. The X-Men – Jean, Mystique, Beast, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler and Quicksilver – have been embraced as heroes for saving the world from Apocalypse. Professor Charles Xavier deploys them to rescue astronauts whose shuttle has been struck by an ancient cosmic entity known as "The Phoenix". The mission goes awry and Jean is possessed by the Phoenix. Shapeshifting aliens learn about the Phoenix’s presence on Earth and arrive on Earth, where they masquerade as government operatives led by "Agent Smith" (Jessica Chastain).
Jean is unable to control her powers and escapes after realizing that her father survived the accident and Xavier altered her memories. The X-Men locate her, but Jean spirals out of control after her father blames her for her mother's death and rejects her, accidentally kills Mystique and leaves Quicksilver in a coma, then flees to a mutant camp run by Magneto for protection. Smith sends the Mutant Containment Unit after her to further strain Jean’s sanity, and she wreaks havoc in the camp before being rescued by the X-Men and brought back to the mansion. Magneto believes Jean to be too dangerous and rallies his acolytes to kill her with Beast's help.
The X-Men and the Acolytes battle outside the mansion while Smith manipulates Jean into embracing the Phoenix. The MCU arrives and captures the mutants, but their transport is ambushed by Smith and her followers. While the mutants battle the aliens, Smith attempts to steal the Phoenix for herself to conquer the galaxy, but with Cyclops’ encouragement, Jean embraces it and sacrifices herself to destroy the aliens. Xavier decides to retire and leaves with Magneto, while the X-Men rebuild the institute in Jean’s honor. In Paris, Xavier and Magneto witness the Phoenix fly over the skies, indicating that Jean is still alive somewhere.
That's just too much. They can't even handle Vanilla Phoenix.
Xavier Fisher
I'm pretty sure they just got the idea to put Sansa into capeshit and just built the movie around that, in a misguided attempt for easy shekels. I mean why not? By hiring shitty GoT actors you get near A-list recognizability for D-list price. It worked for Mamoa. But not so much for Daenerys
Wyatt Lewis
wait, isn't jean supposed to have the phoenix force already in her, which has been supressed by xavier and somewhat unleashed to destroy apocalypse in the last movie? but now she's only getting possessed by phoenix after the apocalypse ordeal? did they make another DoFP that i missed?
Aiden Torres
Wasnt Jean in the future of DOFP? Does that meam we have like 4 different xmem timelines?
Daniel Howard
No. Her character's alien name is actually never revealed.
Connor Moore
but they've done good parts of dark phoenix, they should go all out with this merger
Cameron Sanchez
Fox should burn itself on a pyre begging forgiveness to the old gods.
Joshua Garcia
and they should with the Dark Phoenix movie, like a' this is what we've done, now deal with it' with Dark Phoenix being more powerful than Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet, because Jean Grey and Hope Summers is one of the most powerful beings in the cosmos
Jayden Long
Fox's shitstain bastardization of a universe thankfully is not connected to the MCU.
Ian Barnes
but it can be, especially with whoever the big bad is supposed to be in the next arc of a story line
Cameron Harris
Let's not. X-Men is supposedly getting properly rebooted anyway. Fingers crossed for Rogue draining Carol's brain.
Adam Miller
nuzlocke comics guy did it better
Cooper Adams
they threw a lot of money at Brie Larson leading the Avengers for Phase whatever-the-fuck they're not gonna drop her for a mutant who drains/steals her power source
John Bennett
You mean a character that people like? We'll see.
Dylan Taylor
>nuzlocke comics What am I looking for? Porn?
Logan Perez
Very much doubt Marvel has any interest in continuing making X-Men movies with this cast, especially with Jackman retiring from the role, and certainly not enough interest to include them in their flagship. Regardless, this whole movie was conceived before the merger was.
Jaxson Brown
It's decent as fuck if you're familiar with pokemon
William Torres
>this whole movie was conceived before the merger was
I agree, but there is a huge interest with continuing the X-Men movies because of the audience with the X-Men crowd as well as the Fantastic 4 for Universe reasons.
So when can we look forward to Sophie Turner as Asuka Langley?
Jackson Richardson
I always read these and never remember a single detail by the time I see it in theaters.
Caleb Reyes
After watching a movie I sometimes remember some fake spoilers that were a ton more creative than what I just saw
Camden Powell
Nah, the true spoilers is that Disney is gonna scrap this film altogether
Parker Morgan
Sounds pretty stupid since X-Men stories don't hold upcan't without Wolverine/Magneto/or Gambit. Did they know this was their last one before they planned everything out?
Jaxson Watson
What are you? Stupid?
Landon Barnes
cringe
Connor Cox
OP is full of shit. Apocalypse ended by Phoenix wrecking the main bad guy. Also checked.
Nathan Hernandez
Sneed
Joshua Nguyen
>the MCU are the bad guys Not very subtle huh
Noah White
No configuration of Phoenix or Hope Summers is stronger than Infinity Gauntlet Thanos. I'm talking about the comics here, haven't watched any of these movies since Civil War.
Bentley Nelson
Who is even in this movie
Mason Flores
>Mutant Containment Unit >The MCU arrives and captures the mutants Kek, the butthurt is huge!
Kevin Williams
>1992 So it's almost a decade after Apocalypse? Why they all still look 15?
