Honestly I don't think it's a purely downwards going graph. There were some seasons better than others in the 2000's. A few episodes that briefly got people's attention and led to articles that 'The simpsons is good again'. (There's tons of these online and they're all depressing.
But everything post 2010 was garbage.

Yeah there were some good episodes but most episodes really lacked a proper plot. It is pretty hard to try to make "objective" categories for Simpsons episodes. You can objectively categorise episodes by writing teams and hand drawn vs whatever Flash animation they use now but plot analysis is pretty much always subjective except for few episodes (Lisa goes Gaga ETC.)
