Fantasy island shit was fun, the archer vice season is hot garbage
I thought dreamland was weak. but I liked danger island much better.
It's like a spin off.
They kept the same character archetypes but apart from that it's completely separated from the main show.
It's pretty good to see the characters without any of the past interactions/relationships/history they have with eachother, but I feel like since they're starting with a clean slate they could have done more. Or maybe the show has just use all of its potential.
The PI season is the weakest season. The seasons after that are definitely better but they're nowhere near season 1-6 in quality. The noir one is really nicely drawn though.
Only seasons of the show worth rewatching imo are 1-4, and maybe 6. The themed seasons just didn’t do it for me—I found Vice repetitive and shrill, and neither PI nor Dreamland kept me interested enough to keep watching. It sounds like Danger Island was better, but the shift towards gimmicky settings and plot points seems like a clear sign that they were running out of gas years ago. Someone ITT mentioned a theatrical movie release, but I just can’t imagine that gaining any traction. Archer is a husk of its former self in terms of popularity and cultural relevance; it peaked in the early 2010s.

Vice is when they got bored and tried something a bit different.
Then they backtracked for 6, realized that yet another ISIS season wasn't going to work, and now it's just them having fun with the IP until the show is cancelled.

No idea at this point, but I don't mind it. They pretty much have carte blanche as far as I'm concerned.
Never really understood the hate it started getting after season 2 either. Sure, it changed through the years, but with the progression of the narrative and characters, I would say that's a good thing. Not trollin' tho, sorry to those who lost the enjoyment they found in it.

I actually really like what they're doing now with the same cast in different scenarios as different people. It's just fucking weird they did in about five seasons into a pretty consistent show. I really liked the Danger Island one it's a setting that isn't used enough anymore.

The writers ran out of ideas and couldn't grow the characters Arcs anymore so they went straight up fantasy and started making shit up. Nothing matters, everything is a dream.

I don't think yet another spying stuff season could have workd. They ran out of ideas for plot and character development. Like that other guy said earlier, by giving Archer a kid and a relationship they basically killed any future development for both characters.
And for the rest of them, they didn't have that much room either. Give Mallory another husband ? Make Krieger or Carol/Sheryl even more insane ? Make Gilette even more of a robot ?
They pretty much had to wipe out everything.
Just end it. It was fun while it lasted but it’s getting into Simpsons territory now. I get that the artists like having a stable job right now but if they continue like this they will ruin their resumes forever and no one will touch them once this show gets completely tarnished in people’s eyes. Letting go now would be best for future career potentials.
This, Dreamland was too similar to the normal show while Danger Island felt comparatively more inspired and utilized the cast a little better.
The ending was dogshit tho.

the spinoffs were a good idea and danger island in particular I thought was great

Last episode of the last season. Enough time will have passed that his kid is grown up, and he'll learn some ham-fisted lesson before bamboozling the audience and revealing no lesson was actually learned.
