Also there is no such thing as a satisfying ending. If you want something even worse to compare it to read The Dark Tower. Stephen King literally put a full page apology within the book before the end where he warned you not to read it.

The runtimes were released a few days ago. The first 3 eps are normal and the last three are about 80 minutes IIRC.

We're basically getting a movie every week for at least three weeks. That's kind of cool.
It's a bit neat. But we'd be getting a longer total runtime if they kept the normal 10 episode structure.

So I dropped this show around the start of season 4 when it officially got so unbearably awful that it was no longer worth watching just to shitpost about it on /got/
Is there anything between then and now that's worth watching selectively? Anything funny or a single episode that has some kino moments?

I've never understood the hate for season 4. I've always felt like S3 and 4 were when the show peaked.

I've read the books, but I started with the show. I really don't see how that's relevant anyway. The show and the books are two separate entities.

The show is an adaptation of the books though. And with each passing season, the show strayed further and further from source material.
The 3rd and 4th seasons are the ones where GoT peaks because the 3rd book is the best book. They have the conclusion to some arcs and very memorable moments. But as an adaptation of the third book, those seasons are tremendously bad and D&D's fanfiction only makes them worse.
Perhaps, but it's still the best part of the show, imo. It's a little unfair to knock it for not being a 1:1 recreation of the book when that was never going to be possible to start with.
I guess it depends on your point of view. I'd say the 1st season is the best since it's the most faithful adaptation and the source material is great. 3 and 4 follow it in that order because it's based on the peak book, then 2. Then the books dropped in quality and D&D went loose with their shitty fucking writing, and every season gets worse and worse.
What do you think of got so far? I think its good
