This dog died trying to dig down into the ground to find it's dead puppies that the owner buried on the beach. The dog suffocated. The snow footage is of the only surviving puppy, who also died, later that day, of snow inhalation, while sniffing desperately down at the death spot. They were both slow and agonizing deaths.

This is Maurice the singing turtle. He was 67 years old, in a small colony of very old Ecuadorian river turtles, when he discovered his talent. He began copying the song of a bird outside, and then quickly perfectly mimicked a section of Ode to Joy he heard on a car radio driving past. The other turtles, including his offspring and mates, almost immediately chewed his legs off. Maurice let out a piercing shudder of horror, which only drove the other turtles madder and madder. The amputation did not work, and fork weeks the turtles tried to peck into Maurice's shell to pull out his head and stop his endless voice. The songless turtles slowly because entranced, and decided to try to fuse their shells with Maurice's, using piles and piles of turtle cum, which is like a powerful natural cement. But it was too much cum, too fast, and Maurice drowned in it, gargling out a melancholy rendition of an unwritten sonata, witnessed only by the village elder and his children, which they quickly transcribed and played on their Huorobuchala instruments, made of the bones of syphilitic infants.

one of the first few songs I heard of NIN. brings me waaay back to around 2006. others were Wish, Only, Closer. those songs intrigued me but Something I Can Never Have turned me into a full on "fan" instantly. then I had to find every song NIN had ever made. it was a good time to discover them, Year Zero came out soon after and was decent. I still think it's very ironic that the new droning, hearing-impaired sound that NIN have fallen into was introduced on an album called "The Slip". it's exactly when Trent slipped and fell and never really recovered. the most recent record was a little better again but only marginally so. I enjoyed the Bowie impersonation track and Burning Bright.

I can get behind this kind of droning atmosphere. but I can't take his stupid girlfriend or the hip hop influences or any of the up-beat, shallow shit they produced after YZ. NIN is one of those cases where I wonder how relative perception of music really is. if these new albums had already existed in 2006 would I have liked them? would they have repelled me from NIN and I never would have become a fan of the old stuff (mainly downward spiral and fragile)?
