I didn't like season 4 until season 5 came out. Season 5 made season 4 look like a masterpiece in comparison. I only laughed once during season 5 when he tell the detective lady I love you. That was it.

Season 4 is unironically the best season when they did the re edits. I went back and watched it again and forgot how many of the memorable jokes are actually in season 4. 5 will probably be shit though

I liked season 4 a lot. Season 5A was mostly shit. Season 5B was alright; only the last episode even came close to being on par with the original seasons.

Was the Samurai Jack continuation any good? I didn't watch it because i assumed it followed the pattern of being a sequel made waaaay too late for even major fans to care.

Yeah, you're right. I've heard some people argue MI3 was a reboot but I think that's the dumbest thing ever so I got triggered into thinking you thought the same thing.

The episodes used to focus on 1 big picture conflict (the business/crime drama) and 1 small picture conflict (the family drama) and most of the time cleverly tied them together by the end of the episode. This was done with consistently smart writing that incorporated double entendres, callbacks, and twists. Most importantly, all the characters are available for every scene if need be. Some of the most memorable moments in the OG AD is when all or most of the characters are in the same room playing off of each other. Season 4 isn’t even the same show, it’s just one long book on tape being read by Ron Howard. Except for the “tear up the check” scene, we never even see more than three of the main family together in the same scene. The formula was horrendous and made viewing a literal chore at times, getting through an episode for a well earned chuckle. There was no smart interweaving of stories. They just took one character from point A to point B and hamfisted other characters into their timeline. Season 5 at least felt closer to the original but you can just feel that the actors are over the show and they are just jerking a limp dick. It never should’ve been cancelled in the first place but it also should’ve never been revived.

Season 4 was a mess but still managed to have some of the funniest and most contrived jokes in the whole series. I barely remover anything about s5 other than Maeby pretending to be old and "don't tell Michael".

Haven't watched the recut S4, not s5 part 2 yet
