It's not terrible, but it was rushed and could have been much better. It's worth watching if you liked the 4th one since it follows the same protagonist. If you didn't like any of the other movies you should skip it.

I'm inclined to agree. It doesn't fall victim to the "let's kill off the survivors from the last movie to show Freddy means BUSINESS this time" cliche which got annoying because they kept doing it, and it tends to stick closer to the more surreal feel of the first film rather than trying to make up some kind of real rules about how Freddy functions.
The only bit where it falters is when Freddy attacks the pool party, because any time a slasher villain attacks a whole group of people rather than stalking an individual, it stops being as effective.
