Many of the air disasters of spectacular scale are made by mind boggling stupid mistakes.

Like those pilots who forgot to make a left turn on the runway and went full speed ahead into a fucking forest, or the two 747s that parked opposite sides of a runway and tried to take off at the same time.

how about 4 guys descend on ropes from a c130 hercules flying above you, they attach magnetic clamps to your turbojet pulling it certical causes the wings to shear off. the tail section is cut off like a tin of beans, the majority of terrorist suspects you had captured are rescued while a corpse is injected with a scientists dna so it will appear he died in the impending crash, the ropes holding your turbojet are cur loose and the plane body drops like a stone with you in it.

>the starboard engine failed.[2] The aircraft was then flying at about 65 knots (120 km/h) at an altitude of just under 2,000 feet (610 m). The pilot altered course, intending to land at either Marden or Penshurst. As the Farman Goliath was incapable of maintaining level flight with only one engine operating, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing. He asked the mechanic to ask two passengers to move towards the rear of the aircraft.[3] This instruction was apparently misunderstood by the passengers, as four of them moved towards the rear of the aircraft.[2] This affected the centre of gravity of the aircraft, which then entered into a spin. It crashed at East Malling at about 17:30 GMT, but there was no fire.[4] The aircraft was written off in the accident.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_1923_Air_Union_Farman_Goliath_crash

and the worst part? their plan was all fatally flawed, no one think a planes that crashed with its wings, tail section, and fuselage all an impossible distance away from each other could possibly be an accident.

I bet they didn't expect one of them to be in the wreckage brother either. Especially when they matched the dental records and found out it was banes brother, along with some other random guy who isn't doctor pavel. No I bet they didn't expect that at all.

How the fuck do you manage to take a wrong turn when taking off with a plane? Do pilots actually have to know all the layouts by heart, like a taxi driver?

>It crashed just past the end of the runway, killing all 47 passengers and two of the three crew.[3] The flight's first officer was the sole survivor.[4][5]
>Although not the pilot in command, according to the cockpit voice recorder transcript, the first officer James Polehinke (the only survivor of the crash) was the pilot flying at the time of the accident.[6]
What the fuck is this demonic shit.

That's what's fascinating about air disasters. Procedures and protocols do their best to hold back human hubris and stupidity, but it can only do so much. We are too creative for any rules and eventually find a way to kill ourselves

you're supposed to familarize yourself with the airport diagram
airport diagram is a map of the airport, either you print it out or use a chart supplement to look at it
sometimes airports are really confusing to navigate and/or have really rundown markings or signs so it can be awkward taxiing the plane

launching a plane into a dive can give it enough velocity to send it back up and correct but you need to have minimum amount of distance to do that.

The lack of debris indicates that the plane nose dived into the ocean and went straight down. The pilot decided to die and take everyone with him.

Their auto navigation sent them into an unexpected storm and the ice on the front of the plane caused communication error between the equipment and what was actually happening. They took the plane up high because they didn't understand the readings.
This case is a good argument for lack of training versus the reliance of automatic tools.
The captain was a retard and shouldnt have gone to sleep before a storm.

Nope, you are talking about the peak oil theory that was developed in the 60's. A new calculation was made in 2015 (if I remember correctly) that considered the new technologies like better drilling bits, better pressure pumps, better and more efficient engines, deeper explorations, and newly discovered oil sites which proved we have only used about 5% (five, not a typo) of the world's fossile fuel (this includes crude oil and gas). The problem isn't lack of oil, it's that we need to burn it to use it, which means green house gases that will fuck us up with global warming.

I've always wondered how much pain you would feel in this situation? Would you disintegrate instantly or what?

Actually coordinate rescue ops and make sure.the passengers were evacuated. He escaped while passengers got trapped inside while riding elevators that got shut down after the generators failed, they drowned. In fact many people that drowned were trapped in the lower decks, and he and his crew all kept to themselves the real danger to the passengers.

He didn't even know that people died and his job was to inform the coast guard of fatalities and to make rescue attempts more efficient by having them going to places were passengers were concentrating.

That actually makes me more unnerved
I don’t like the idea that my pilot is relying on the Ipad and if anything goes wrong with it they won’t know how to fly manually

>come fly with user airlines; we've got a fuckin' nuclear reactor onboard stuffed with weapons-grade plutonium

For about a second or so you'd notice that your torso was being ripped away along with your legs, then the fire, and then your head would hit something destroying your brain and killing you.

That user is talking bullshit. Yes, you can go to windy.com and see a really nice map of the air currents but actual avionics rely on sensors on the plane you are on, not general data from sattelites. An IPad only gives you some info, not all, it simply can't do more than that.

filing IFR without an IFR ticket is a chad move

>flight instructors HATE him

It probably will be. If he's flying Porter they have loads of women pilots.

Its your own mistakes that will scare you. Almost CFIT'd myself once and that really made me give the whole flying thing a think.

Basically means nothing was wrong with your plane, you just crashed into the ground because of your own incompetence

Russians are especially talented at it

Reminds me of some article I read about an autonamous nuclear missile developed during the Cold War, designed to stay in the air for months for a potential preemptive strike, would've caused a lot of fallout, sounded horrifying.

THOSE LITTLE CLIP ON PULSE OXIMETERS ARE HANDY FOR CHECKING IF UR BRAIN IS ABOUT TO CHOKE OUT

I meet lots of pilots at my job and the women ones are the friendliest and most professional. but the old men ones are the most trustworthy
the young men are neither polite nor trustworthy and everyone else complains about them

I've had, what felt like, two close calls on flights. Both out of California.
First one
>right after lift off at LAX
>not even 1 minute into the air
>hit air pocket
>plane drops 200ft
>say my prayers
>plane starts climbing again
>rest of flight was smooth
Second
>flying home from PSP
>uneventful flight until 45 minutes to destination
>hit some nasty weather
>near constant, violent turbulence
>'feels' like pilots are struggling to maintain course
>plane violently jostling left, right, up and down
>pilots dim cabin lights
>baby starts crying
>little kids talking in hushed tones barely containing their fear
>tfw I know that feel
>anticipating oxygen tanks dropping down
>40 minutes of hellish turbulence later reach final approach
>things finally smooth out during last 5 minutes of flight
>realize I've been white knuckle gripping my armrests
>land safe and sound

lel

>we expect heavy turbulence in the last hour of the flight
>seat belt sign comes on
>this is it
>1 bump smaller than hitting a speed bump in a car
>pilot apologises for the turbulence

You're confused about why oxygen masks would drop

Moderate turbulence has nothing to do with it

>Because pilots in routine no frills flights have to have so much training,
literally all they do is take off and land. autopilot does everything for them. Embraer even designs their a/c with footrests so the pilots can just sit back and watch shit on their laptops.

Shit is haunting when you hear it on black box recordings.

CFIT = controlled flight into terrain

Most turbalence can be avoided but usually the pilot wants to get home as fast as possible and flies through them anyway.

why do normies fight or pay more for seats near the front of the airplane when sitting around the CG is the most comfortable since you barely feel any rotation moments?

The dumbass KLM pilot filled the plane with fuel so it exploded into a huge fire ball. And the ones who lived on the pan am where at the front ahead of where the impact was. The funny thing is that he wasn't full of fuel they probably would have been able to clear the pan am.

>AC-130 ABOVE

Its 30,000 feet and it sounds like you've never flown before.

Look at all the planes that are in the air right now over North America. None of these will crash.

There's no reason to think that when you board a plane that you're going to be doomed.

I've flown countless times over 40 years and have never even experienced minor engine trouble. In fact, in 40 years and hundreds of flights I've never been on a plane that even had to turn around or was in any sort of emergency of even a minor kind, like a sick passenger.

Attached: PSX_20190317_232548.jpg (1439x1502, 410K)

Because there was no planes.
Just look at the shit CGI today, it aged badly.

Fighter jets weren't used to stop the 9/11 planes because it wouldn't have been possible to arm them fast enough. As a result of 9/11 we now have armed fighter jets all over the country ready to react at a moment's notice if something like that happens again. Also, passengers did take down the terrorists on United Flight 93.

United 93 was, but mostly because the hijacking happened right after both towers got hit (news got on the plane by phone) which seemed to encourage the passengers to take out the hijackers (also because they had a passenger on board who was a trained pilot).

>tfw don't live in the timeline where they took out the terrorists and managed to land the plane safely while having one of the scumbags alive to interrogate

Attached: image.jpg (450x750, 46K)

But user I'm on NoFap.

You really think its that hard to navigate to NYC from Boston? I could do it with my fucking eyes closed if you just told me the readings on the compass.

why do the lights go off during turbulence? does it stop the passengers from using all the sick bags?

These are the polar routes.

They try to stay as close to land as possible but there are places where if a problem happens you might have to ditch into the sea.

Attached: 1920px-PolarRoute.png (1920x640, 884K)

flying dutchmen, read the thread

There was no hijacking and no planes hit the tower.
It was just bombs and the Livefeeds edited planes in it, also Jews that were related to mainstream media homos called in and reported seeing planes.
Meanwhile people at ground zero saw nothing.

Those two things are just turbulence and neither were "close calls".

what?
are you talking about dutch roll?

That's the last time I fly on Andrew Dobson Airways

Do you get to actually hang out in the places you land at or do you have to get ready immediately for the next flight?
How's the pay?

How much sex do you have every second? Apparently, flight attendants constantly fuck.

>Montana
>gets called flyover country
>planes don't even fly over it

Yeah of course, I have a 20 hour layover in LA tomorrow. Your airline puts you in a hotel for the night wherever you finish the day at. Most airlines start at 30 dollars an hour. Senior flight attendants easily make 60+ an hour, its gross how overpaid we are.
Constant. It varies ofc but many are huge whores especially the men, straight or gay.

I imagine the free hotel rooms make it super easy to get laid. You mostly fuck the other flight attendants, right?

>Your airline puts you in a hotel for the night wherever you finish the day at.
Lame, mine didn't do this last time I was in London. Had to spend the night in Heathrow.

>can't even see California through the planes
>it's not called a flyover state

>30 dollars an hour.

My local mall pays 26 an hour for night packers. You don't know the meaning of overpaid.

How many hours do you get paid for a day?
Sounds kind of comfy actually, not sure what kind of training it requires.

It happens but is frowned upon due to how messy it can be. Far easier to just give liquor to qt passengers and ask them what their plans are for the day. Pretty fucking fun job desu

not that user but the FARs state that anyone can be a flight attendant as long as the captain approves them of knowing protocol and procedures for emergencies

It really depends. I worked 8 today, all I did was read and talk shit. You get per diem for every hour you're away from home, which adds up really quick.
Quite literally if you are above lukewarm IQ and know how to be smile and be friendly you can do it. Just a few weeks of paid training is all

don't forget mh17

Who the fuck do you work for? Flight attendants usually bitch for not getting paid enough.

Pan Air.
