The hotel they enter after crossing over is different in the morning, as is his car. Diane also changed over night, forgot who she used be and became someone else in that dimension (Linda). Coop didn't change as fast, but you can tell his personality is different, and then at the end when he asks what year it is and seems confused, it's because he too is now becoming someone else (Richard).
At least that's how it seems to me.

Another explanation--which is basically the go-to for all Lynch work--is that you shouldn't try to make too much sense of things because his stories often operate by dream logic, where nothing really has to make sense.
