The secret in their eyes... from Argentina
Aguirre:Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo, although they're West German films they take place in the rainforests

This was a complete waste of time, dude was playing himself and he even failed at that. What a shitshow.
*Man Facing Southeast
Two of my favorite films. I was thinking movies made by South Americans, but if we're talking about stuff that's set there then these would be at the top of the list.
Mosquito Coast

This is an awesome movie.
Well there was that absolutely brutal dystopian horror from Brazil that absolutely chilled me to my core with the depravity that it mined from the depths of human failure and displayed in its full glory... I think it was called The News?
OBSESSED

United States geography education?
Auto da Compadecida
This. It's police justice porn kino.
But I think it does suffer a bit that it's too much of a movie made FOR brazilians. It's mainly about brazilian problems that foreigners don't care about. It's really edgy, and that makes the movie seem unrealistic for foreigners, but reality in Rio is exactly like that, up to that police department having a fucking skull and two guns as symbol. And the good lines only make sense if you know portuguese. "Bota na conta do papa" is really cringe in english.
And if you watch this dubbed, you might as well not watch it because the actors voices is half of the fun.
But in Brazil this movie is really a big fucking deal, and I'm pretty sure it's what started a cultural revolution in Brazil that gave birth to a right-wing that didn't exist back then, and that ultimately elected Bolsonaro as president in 2018. I know that Yea Forums doesn't care, but if you want to understand the Brazil of 2019, you have to watch this movie
Off duty police officer shot the nigger and took his gun. Then
also the sequel sucks dick because the director is a butthurt commie
Is... that... Mata Nui?
The Strategy of the Snail
