It's a common pitfall with long lived characters in fantasy. The most common example is any elven character in your typical medieval fantasy world. Shouldn't they be the best at everything? The best swordsmen, the best wizards, the best politicians, best craftsmen etc. But rarely are they much better than their shorter lived counterparts. The ability to live for over a dozen decades in your physical and mental prime is an alien concept for us humans and I doubt anyone will ever write it particularly well so just turn off your brain.

It opened with the frankly embarrassing space nazi stuff, went on mid season hiatus on the worst episode of the season (the origins of the transporter one) and the series finale is one of the all time worst insults.
