Well, we think that stinks.

Don't we, Shaitan?

there really isn't anything else in its class as far as straight up textbook "sword and sorcery" goes
you can try anything else from Bakshi though
and obviously Heavy Metal
once you're acclimated move on to Fantastic Planet and Belladonna of Sadness, and if you feel you're REALLY ready for it, Gandahar

If you really want that epic psychedelic fantasy feel though, forget movies, just put on some King Crimson, plaster your walls with Roger Dean posters, and read Elric

Flight of Dragons

>and obviously Heavy Metal
It's been a couple decades since I saw this. Is the sequel any good?
>once you're acclimated move on to Fantastic Planet
Own it
>and Belladonna of Sadness
Never heard of this one, gonna check it out now
>and if you feel you're REALLY ready for it, Gandahar
Own it

Thanks user!

>Heavy Metal sequel
It's "shut off your brain and enjoy". Worth a watch, but not much that sticks.

Never heard of Belladonna?

awright mom jeez

a lot of people who worked on heavy metal went over and did some of the animated shorts on 'Love, Death, and Robots' which just came out

To be honest the only parts of the first one I remember are the boobatorium birdrider girl, the skeleton bomber, Corbin Dallas, the cokehead aliens, and the Loc-Nar being defeated by a girl.

I'm not into anime but it looks cool from what I googled

Worth it just to see Michael Ironsdie ham it up.

Only one thing that stinks here

Unironically Teegra as a sculpture.

>there really isn't anything else in its class as far as straight up textbook "sword and sorcery" goes
Disappointing. I really wish fantasy hadn't started to get popular right as sci-fi was getting a big public perception boost due to the space race, because it seems like it's been pigeonholed as "must be a carbon-copy clone of LotR" instead of "must be fantastic".

Not really sword and sorcery, but check out some Ghibli films like Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

>fire and ice
any good or just fan service?

It's a fun watch with gorgeous Frazetta visuals

Attached: teegra3.jpg (1280x720, 77K)

>gorgeous visuals
>ralph bakshi

no. let's not further propagate this opinion

I don't know if Bakshi was high when he made his films, but they all seem completely demented. The LOTR one is decent, but I suspect that's only because it's an adaption and not his own story.

>Bakshi was the director
>Background painter was James Gurney, the author and artist of the Dinotopia illustrated novels. Thomas Kinkade also worked on the backgrounds to various scenes. Peter Chung, of Aeon Flux fame, was a layout artist.

savagely btfo

always sad to see some tryhard roll in with baby's first bandwagon critique

>bakshi's half-finished retard animations
>rotoscoping
>uncontrollablle vomiting

you can get work from the best in the field but if you give it all to a retard to slap together you still end up with trash.

>but muh backgrounds!

there are kids movies with better backgrounds lmaoing my ass off.

when is the nude edit of the movie coming out bros

>Sauce?
It's in the OP, retard.

>actually trying this hard
you're that kid that none of the other kids would play with aren't you

Fritz the Cat

Belladonna of Sadness is an artfag film about a woman seeking revenge after being raped. It's not like Fire and Ice at all imo

Currently rewatching Heavy Metal but thanks for the heads-up

Blade with whom I have lived,
blade with whom I now die
Serve right and justice one last time!

>I would have lived a life with thee lassie, so now I die
She was best girl be far.

well fuck user
I'm going to definitely check this out

unlike half-retarded bakshi fans, when it comes to questions of taste i don't refer to children.

>still seething an hour later
Wow

good thread

Good man, it's a classic.

this thread has been 10/10

It's good that we can still actual discussion from time to time. Shame it didn't get a huge amount of traction but I've got a few new films to check out at least.

you had me classic animation knights & dragons
but finding out james earl jones plays an evil wizard makes me sad I didn't see this movie as a kid

>James Gurney,
this guy has kino youtube channel

youtube.com/watch?v=DqHMfxHhNpM

yeah that was actually unironically mindblowing

The Black Cauldron, Disneys Hobbit rip-off back from the days when Disney still had a soul.

The Last Unicorn

Pretty good proto-Ghibli with some great voice acting and soundtrack

The Hobbit 1977. animated kino

>when Disney still had a soul.
so never

Sword In The Stone.

>When there's a whip, there's a way

Fire and Ice was so heavily rotoscoped and half baked with almost no cell shading, that i couldn't enjoy it. Stuff being released unfinished is just a cop out, i won't reward it.

this is not a hobbit rip off and it is not good at all, but it is animated sword and sorcery

>read
Haha nice try fag.
>Is the sequel any good?
It is to fap to.

This is neat, thanks
