Their going to do their own theme but barrow heavily from the lore and setting. Sith and Jedi wars with a fresh galactic landscape free of the Squeal Trilogy or Disney’s version of the rebellion. They need to pull one over on Kathleen. Some feminist elements are to be expected but the important thing is world building and story. I’m sure they will also try and recapture the male audience as well.

The one with the brothers is still the best one. Almost like a short movie. Loving the shot with the brothers walking away from the throne, as the Eternal Fleet in the background is slowly moving in the same direction, heading for war.

I'm kinda apprehensive with them adapting it. It's still an rpg, leaving the story with lots of room for "reinterpretation", be it simlpe stuff like taking story/character from the game choices that I didn't, up to stock writers with no attachment to the game whatsoever putting their stamp on it, making it worse in the process.

Technically, if they do KotOR instead of a prequel, he'd have to wear a mullet instead of the mask for 90% of the movie. Dunno if that makes it better.

As for adapting it, what are the chances that they can pull of "oh noes, I was Revan all along!" convincingly. I mean, amnesic hero + constant flashbacks to Revan's travels doesn't leave a lot of room for surprises, even if you haven't played the game. Then again, it didn't bother me in the game either and I even thought it was cool when the reveal finally confirmed the setup groundwork.

If you want to see how badly Disney would fuck up HK, check out the Vader comic. It features a truly shameless HK ripoff as the sidekick to one of the donut steele characters.

I feel your pain brother, but there is room to appreciate well framed stories within the star wars universe, and "Knights of the Old Republic" was once such story.

I think you would enjoy it, it's often on sale on steam for cheap, and its sequel KOTOR II is a fantastic expansion (provided you subscribe to a lovingly crafted steam workshop mod that restores the game to a state free of the bugs and missing content of Lucasarts's rushed Christmas release). It is all an immersive first step into a larger world.
