And in Alita, Huge says outstanding when he's impressed by Alita saving the dog

Did Alita ever break 400 mil? Sequel confirmed?

Watched it in 3d with my wife like 3 weeks ago, then alone on a small screen (the room only had 60 seats, 32 of them occupied) on friday. Somehow the audience was more responsive on the second one, i actually laughed at funny bits during the bar fight scene and in a few other places. Or maybe i just didnt notice that when watching in imax.

My point i guess is that if you are afraid of feeling embarassed, just play it cool like its no big deal and no one will notice or care.

The foreign numbers haven't been updated in 5 days.

We might if Jim self funds it or if bluray sales are especially strong. She just doesn't have a domestic following to warrant a sequel though, it's hard to hype up a sequel to a movie no one saw and it's even harder to get them in theaters to see it. She did well in China but it wasn't mindblowingly well, and she's looking like she might not even hit 400m or if she does just barely, the numbers just aren't there.

I think we have to accept that our chances for sequels is incredibly low based off this performance.

There's still many people watching. I went to a 3:50p screening here, it's still on 3-4 times a day, and this screening was at the second biggest cinema room.

When I bought my ticket (hour before the movie), there was for sure many empty seats, but after I came in there were tonnes of people sitting around me - to my surprise, I had a look on my phone, and sure enough another 40ish people bought tickets since I bought mine.

It will probably air for another week in Sydney with these kinds of turnouts.

One neat thing about that scene is how they got the IOR between the eyes and the water correct. There's such a small difference in the refractive index between the two mediums that you don't get any specular highlights. Things don't really look wet underwater.

Thanks for your encouragement. I think my biggest source of anxiety is the fact that the movie is only screening in select theaters, and none near where I live. The idea of driving for a long time and going to an unfamiliar city to see the movie in a cinema I've never been to before is too much for me to deal with.
I've thought about maybe taking a train to simplify things, but I don't know. It might make it worse.

I have no idea why this movie connected with me in the way that it did. I don't think I'm really the target audience. I don't give a shit about anime or whatever. I take some solace in the fact that it only dropped 41% this weekend despite losing 29% of its theaters. So the per-theater average only dipped 17%. Not that it really means anything, but it's nice to see some strength.
I'll be happy with 400M and leave the rest to Blu-ray and Based Jim.
