she decided to go to art school which resulted in her and jim, not being able to see each other except on weekends for a long period of time, but it was her dream so jim supported her. she ends up dropping out.
fast forward a few years and jim starts a company with some coworkers because they all worship sportsball, and it becomes really successful. however this means he has to travel often and not be around as much for a while. pam doesn't want to make that sacrifice and makes it about herself "i don't want you to resent me, go if you really want to". jim ends up leaving the company thing behind because she's so fucking needy. she couldn't even make the same sacrifice for him, the fucking cunt
