Why didn't Jackson even try?
Why didn't Jackson even try?

he already proved himself in the first trilogy. now he's just there for the pay check
>mfw normies say The Hobbit movies are just as good as LOTR
it was like his sixth tolkein movie. he was tired of that shit.
he didn't want the job, he only took it last minute because they threatened his family.
So why sign on for it? Do you think he's obligated to make every Tolkien film that a studio wants to shit out for cash? Signing up for a trilogy that you don't even want to make and using your lack of interest in it as an excuse for why it's shit isn't a good defence at all.
No one likes the Hobbit movies, at least not 2 and 3
He tried but he's obsessed with CGI, you can see it even in ROTK.
WB essentially bullied him into doing it by threatening to give it to Brett Ratner it he didn’t sign on for it
He did try you arrogant fuck. The Hobbit films, as shitty as they were, exhausted him. They drained him. He had to pick up the pieces when Del Toro left with nowhere near as much time to prepare as he did with LotR and made even worse by the studio demanding a trilogy.
Yeah, but why should he care? The hobbit trilogy was a dumpster fire. And its a dumpster fire with Jacksons name all over it. He should have just walked instead of taint his name
probably fucked him like they did the tolkein estate by making 3 movies out of 1 tiny ass book
Del Toro left because the studio was deadset on making dilute, brainless trash. If Jackson had any sense he would have walked as well.
You can see it in The Two Towers, the fat hack.
I wish he went CGI in The Two Towers. Rohan and Helm's Deep looked pathetically small because they were real sets.
He made a lot of shitty decisions even with the bad circumstances taken into account, but it's absurd and arrogant to claim he never tried. He probably aged himself outwardly a fair but because of that trilogy.
I knew a guy who was convinced that the Hobbit movies were better than the LOTR trilogy. His main argument was that Frodo's whining brought down the whole trilogy and Bilbo was an entertaining character. His view persisted throughout the first two movies, but after he saw Five armies on opening night, he stopped wanting to discuss this debate, vaguely implied that he was wrong whenever brought up, but mostly pretended that our debates never took place or that he liked LOTR more all along.
He sounds like a filthy Jewdog. You should ghost him.
>DUDE HOW ABOUT WE ADAPT THE HOBBIT BUT INSTEAD OF MAKING ONE MOVIE WE TURN IT INTO THREE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IT HAS TO BE AS EPIC AS LORD OF THE RINGS OTHERWISE IT WOULD BE A LET DOWN AND THEN ADD A BUNCH OF TONE RUINING FILLER BASED ON TOLKIEN'S FOOTNOTES AND DOODLES WE FOUND IN THE MARGINS OF HIS DRAFTS SO THAT IT'S NOT STRETCHED OUT BUT THEN MAKE ALL THE MOVIES REALLY LONG SO THAT IT IS ANYWAY AND THEN THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES IS A WHOLE FUCKING MOVIE AND INSTEAD OF EMBRACING THE CHILDISH TONE WE JUST ADD SOME OCCASIONAL DWARF FART JOKES BUT ALSO DO NOTHING TO CHARACTERISE THEM AND FOCUS INSTEAD ON SOME JAMMED IN INTERSPECIES ROMANCE SUBPLOT AND ALSO LEGOLAS IS HERE TOO WOW REMEMBER HIM EVERYONE AND LET'S SHOOT THE WHOLE TRILOGY IN 48FPS AND COMPLETELY ABANDON PRACTICAL EFFECTS SO THAT THE WHOLE TRILOGY LOOKS LIKE A VIDEOGAME STAND ASIDE THE FUTURE OF CINEMA IS HERE
Youre a piece of shit.
Also they did CGI helms deep and Rohan
dude imagine holding a grudge this long
Some aussie shot up the set so he gave up
Go watch the Lindsay Ellis video. I know, don't sperg at me, but she actually went to New Zealand to speak to Hobbit cast members. It's a good video series.
I've never heard anyone say this, though.
>Frodo's whining brought down the whole trilogy and Bilbo was an entertaining character
He's unironically right about this at least. Martin Freeman was the single consistently good thing about the Hobbit movies
>Jackie chan and Chris Tucker star in the hobbit
Yeah , would have been Kino
Del Taco is fucking lazy and comes up with excuses why he can't make a film and pretends it's artistic disagreements despite most of his films being medicore.
>ex: insisting on r rated mountain of madness
There is NOTHING r rated in the book. Hes just a lazy fraud
He was great as Bilbo but as a Brit it was really hard to separate him from his previous acting roles. LotR was the first Elijah movie I saw, other than maybe Deep Impact.
>eCeleb
Nah
Ignore the thot, just skip to the parts where the actors are speaking, it's juicy stuff.
Dope. His vision for the movies was clearly superior. If he was really so lazy he'd just take the paycheck and make the shitty trilogy they wanted and got.
they threatened to hire brett ratner
It should have been made by von Trier
He stopped trying after fellowship of the ring
nah
the whole thing quite wild, Peter was clearly trying to retain some dignity for the franchise but got fucked over by the studio
>TT and ROTK
>Not pure kino
pick one, faggot
>mfw normies say the LOTR movies are good
this
despite their flaws you may or may not like the first two parts, but Five Armies was undeniably fucking shit
They are pure shit flicks you absolute no taste fucking idiot.
Seriously they have shit pacing editing writing and scenes besides gollum
>Hating LotR
You don't belong here, retard
I grew up reading Tolkien. Ive read every single piece of lotr related material thats not behind lock and key. Lotr plebs makes me irrationally infuriated, and i have a mate saying rating the trilogies after the battle scenes and calls fellowship a snoozefest. Arguing that battle of the five armies is peak lotr because that dwarf ran around and headbutted orcs.
Just had to get it off my chest
He should have called their bluff. Then he'd be remembered as the only one to do it right instead of being known as Hackson.
>Del Toro left because the studio was deadset on making dilute, brainless trash
""People"" thinking Del Taco is some kind of earnest artiste is the strangest thing to me. The dude makes creature features.
On a capeshit board?
Stop overrating lotr you goddamn fucking plebshit
Fuck off Lindsey, no one's buying it.
He couldn't just turn them down or else all of the hundreds or maybe even thousands of people he's responsible for at his effects company WETA would have been out of jobs. He had to do it to make sure his employees got paid
These movies are such trash. It's such a shame too because when a scene is focused on Bilbo it actually kind of works, but that's only 15% of the trilogy. Also, it shouldn't have been a trilogy.
This
They made a trilogy out of a book with a lesser word count than any individual LotR book, of course it’d end up badly.
He tried to copy lord of the rings when his lord of the rings was glorified action flicks for twelve years old. This shows his true nature.
He lucked out with fellowship of the ring and even lifted stuff from the animated version apparently.
>DUDE HOW ABOUT WE ADAPT THE HOBBIT BUT INSTEAD OF MAKING ONE MOVIE WE TURN IT INTO THREE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IT HAS TO BE AS EPIC AS LORD OF THE RINGS
Are you a braindead? It was obviously because it makes more money this way
seething
This.
Joke's on you Lindso, I enjoy being angry.
It was actually a pretty good documentry to her credit. She didn't make her own precence the focus once it came to interviewing - she just let the cast and Kiwi's speak uninterruped.
Overall pretty respectful approach and filled with good insight, not becasue of some fucking hot take, but because it just had those involved talking.
And I'm saying that as someone who can't normally stand her shitty videos, almost everything else is e-celeb cancer.
>mfw
Thank you for bringing up painful memories of BotFA.
I now have to go watch RotK to cleanse myself
That old Kiwi dwarf had seen some shit. Really reminded be of McKellen's comments
>Newfags calling normalfags "normies"
wow that never occurred to me thanks for opening my eyes user
CG always ages badly. People will laugh in 40 years at the capeshit of today.
And unlike Casablanca the acting isn't good.
>tfw your expectations for the Hobbit were ruined so badly it's been impossible to feel optimistic about a film you've been looking forward to since
