is my first time watching DS9 and im amazed by the depth of the characters and the amazing lore they adding to the universe.
I loved TOS and TNG, liked VOY and ENT, but this... DS9 is pure art.

9 years ago he gave his life to see the stars the only way he knew how. Never forget the only bat to fly into space.

wtf i just saw?

>So this is a toast for the good guys!

I know I'm not supposed to like DS9 because it's not 'real' star trek but goddamn do I love it's story. Great characters, cool scenarios. And for once it felt like I wasn't watching a show filtered through Federation propaganda. It was having issues that weren't instantly resolved by zooming to the other side of the quadrant in the next episode.

>tfw you listen to The Sisko say a cool line and you try to repeat it but it doesn't sound nearly as cool

>I can dig it
this line seemed kind of out of place

>The scenes involving Sisko as Joran had to be shot twice because the producers were unhappy with the first set of dailies. The reason for this was they felt that Avery Brooks' performance was too creepy. According to visual effects supervisor Gary Hutzel, Brooks spoke in an almost inaudible whisper that "literally sent shivers up your spine". (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 247)

I believe that DS9 is the most "star trek" show of all.
In all the series, all the characters from diferent races are friendly to each other inside of the parameters of being part of the starfleet, so, they are just that, starfleet buddys
In DS9 they are true to their nature. Quark may become a little bit more empathic, but still ferengi to the core.

The guy can deliver with such a strenght that is not common in this kind of shows. The episode when he is "Benny" the scify writer from the 50s is fucking amazing.

And dont make me start with Nana. That woman can display an amazing range of emotions without saying nothing. Just a gesture, a smile or a grin.
Amazing actress.
The casting for the show was great. Even Rom is fucking amazing.

How is this show still popular? Boomers at my work are always talking about it.

Attached: IAAAAAM.png (921x647, 198K)

Because Star Trek isn't just an adventure sci-fi show but an ideal for society to strive towards and a fulfillment of human desire for unending exploration.

Perfect mix of classic Trek style problem-of-the-week shit and story/character arcs. Whichever you prefer, episodic or arc-oriented shows, it has the best of both worlds

The Dubsminion has endured for 2,000 /trek/ threads and will continue to endure long after Avery Brooks is admitted to a mental hospital.

Attached: iggy-popuse.jpg (320x320, 16K)

RIP space bat, RIP space shuttle

Shatner creates unique talking music.
Brooks is a bebop pianist and vocalist.
Bakula is a broadway musical performer.

you know what also seemed out of place? sisko getting really extremely butthurt about nick's club being in the mid 20th century

*vic's club

Alien interaction is so good in DS9. In other treks everything is seen through the lens of the federation. Contact is made, the alien pops up on the view screen and someone asks the computer to check Wikipedia to get a rundown on the species. But with DS9 you get casual conversations between characters discussing, literature, culinary preferences, art, so on and so forth made by the aliens to gain insight into their values. You get culture clashes from Aliens interacting with one another to gain insight on things not just from a Federation point of view, but from a Cardassian, or a Vorta, or a Bajoran. I love that shit.

Started watching trek a month ago. First the Vulcan baseball episode and some other random holodeck episodes, then all the Ferengi episodes (yes the episodes are mostly LAME but Ferengi are still so interesting), then all the episodes with Keiko in them (because it's relatable cosmic horror because I have a Chinese GF). Then a few famous TNG and TOS episodes.

And now watched all of ENT. Season 1 and 2 were very comfy and what I wanted trek to be, except for the jackass action hero captain. I knew beforehand that the last episode would involve Riker in a holodeck and dreaded that it would turn out that the entirety of ENT had just been holodeck recreation. Thankfully that didn't happen but it was still an awful slap on ENT fans' faces. The last few seconds with all the Enterprise captains saying the prologue was good though and I agree that in the context of all of trek it's a good episode for fans.

It was fun while it lasted. Thank you Roddenberry. Not sure what I'll do now. Won't touch JJ or MacFarlane treks

Okay ENT is getting boring now

They're clearly running out of ideas towards the end of season 2

Good episode. It's a FAAAAAKE

Get it done.

Do people generally not like the DS9 episode "Fascination"?
That shit had me rolling. It's one of the few blatantly season-filler episode I don't skip, over the course of the entire franchise.
Mostly due to Brooks' acting.

Tilly made me cringe because how she's hiding her imaginary friend and I muted it when she lashed out on the bridge
Really hate the human looking klingon guy, should've just cut him lose after the first season but sadly showrunners get attached to actors.
The overall look of the klingons annoys me because of the inconsistency with ent-tos-tng/ds9, but maybe that can be resolved.

Yeah, the acting in s1 can be kind of jarring. I'm sure it was half the actors and half the direction they were given, but it still makes it pretty uncomfortable at points.

Then again, you also have masterpieces like Progress, Duet, and In the hands of the Prophets. It was a shaky start to be sure, but there were also plenty of diamonds in the rough.

The Chadsko should have a baseball in one of his hands

Janeway: There's coffee in that nebula

Hold in there s3 emulates TOS whacky one shot episodes and has some of the best action of any Trek. The best shootouts for sure.

Tillys been toned all the way back and shes pretty likeable.

Youre right though everything to do with Clem Fandango, the Klingons and Section 31 needs quickly dropped.

Preferably for a complete restart with Pike and No1s Enterprise.

ehh

Attached: ensign pity.png (600x600, 247K)

>Clem Fandango, the Klingons
Thankfully they have been very minor in this season outside of a little housekeeping at the start. In fact, they were completely absent from the previous episode. In fact, in the ep before that Tyler was only briefly around and served merely as a point to advance the storyline of other characters (Culber and Pike/Airiam). I have no hopes that it will stay that way, but it has been a nice change while it has lasted.
>and Section 31
This shit isn't going anywhere until they launch the Section 31 centralized show. So, hold on to your butts.

Ensign, are you aware you neglected to put on a bra this morning?

Who the fuck doesn't want a 6 hour shift over an 8 hour shift?

North Star is one of my absolute favorite episodes in all of Trek.

I wonder how many duty shifts each crewmember is assigned in a week.

>Section 31 needs quickly dropped.
Yeah that's probably the worst thing they're doing.
I just watched last season of ds9 so the difference is really jarring. It's as open as starfleet intelligence in STD, but they're much more like the tal shiar and obsidian order.

A Starfleet Intelligence show with Section 31 as a domestic villain they find out about later on would've been cooler.

Just finished jerking off to seeing BF at work, pulling her pants down, and packing my fat cock raw into her tight trap ass.

They stole just enough of B5 first season script and bible and just made shit up as they went along instead of having a cohesive story done by it's creator from start to finish.

I'm sure the JJ Verse/Discovery people were all like "everyone in America knows about the CIA." But it's more like if the OSS was still operating within the CIA and no one knew about it.

Did you order earl grey like she said? So, if you go into her Starbucks and order earl grey hot she'll take you in back and let you pound her boipuccy?

It would have been pure absurdity to portray S31 the Scooby-Doo tier larping villains they were in DS9, an organization the way they were shown simply wouldn't exist for hundreds of years.

Having them actually be useful and competent before something happens to drive them underground makes a lot more sense. Especially since we're what, six months removed from the Federation almost falling? They SHOULD be more prominent than ever at this point.

Normal people don't know S31 exists, just people at relatively high levels in Starfleet.

Honestly, with the way S31 is presented in STD, what the fuck does Starfleet Intelligence even do?

>Having them actually be useful and competent before something happens to drive them underground makes a lot more sense.

Explain
>Normal people don't know S31 exists, just people at relatively high levels in Starfleet.
The rank and file members of the Discovery's crew are completely unphased about Section 31. At best you can argue that its largely unknown to the populace of the Federation while well-known to members of Starfleet...for some reason. How you'd square that circle I don't know, but I suppose its possible.

I did not, I just walked in and bent her over the counter. Have other anons confirmed she'll fuck you if you order Earl Grey?

That was my point. It's like the STD writers don't know Starfleet Intelligence is the mainline Federation Intelligence Service. Section 31 is supposed to be the shadowy underbelly of Federation spycraft. Their lack of visibility allows them to do the horrible, nasty things required to maintain their Socialist Utopia.

Earl Grey, hot is her danger word. If you order it, she'll tell you to wait in the back and she'll secretly call the cops on you for being a stalker.

What the fuck did I just watch?

Not so much, she just said "order tea, eal grey, hot and see what happens." I just find the idea of someone sexually assaulting someone in a dowtown Pittsburgh Starbucks on a busy Saturday morning slightly implausible. Did the other patrons cheer you on or were you able to finish before the cops got there? Also, did you shout "Mr. Worf, fire torpedos!" as you blew your load?

>Full spread

>The rank and file members of the Discovery's crew are completely unphased about Section 31.

They're the crew of a super-science ship that was repurposed into a front line black ops warfighter by a evil dude who was running the ship completely abnormally by Starfleet standards. Why would they be phased by the black ops types, they're barely removed from being that themselves.

>At best you can argue that its largely unknown to the populace of the Federation while well-known to members of Starfleet...for some reason. How you'd square that circle I don't know, but I suppose its possible.

The first episode on the Discovery, when Burnham and a bunch of non-Starfleet people are brought on board, they actively point out the Section 31 insignias and say they have no idea what those stand for.

Attached: Trek Discord.jpg (640x480, 37K)

There are so many interesting parts in the baseball episode in terms of world building.
Showing that there's a starfleet ship that is fully vulcan(at least in terms of officers) when we've seen mostly human ships, those suppressed emotions of Solok and his self-decieved emotionless state, how a strong wrestler like Sisko fares against a vulcan physically.
Not just stronger, but Sisko notes "faster too".

Seen a lot of comments online asking why Solok wasn't kicked out for his bigotry, but in a way I think it helps to show how the federation is utopian. Solok doesn't lose his career because he's a bigot stating facts(like a human being weaker than a vulcan), he makes his studies and they're presumably partly challenged academically, he then goes on to be a productive member of the federation. I'm glad to see him frustrated at the end, emotional because Sisko is no longer bothered by him, but happier still that he can be out there and put in good work for the Federation, and not forced to toil around in the background on vulcan because he's not pc enough.

>Showing that there's a starfleet ship that is fully vulcan

Apparently she was considered to play Tasha Yar
trektoday.com/content/2010/08/star-trek-the-next-generation-casting-memo-unearthed/

Riker should have died instead of Tasha. Riker was entirely redundant and never contributed anything useful or unique to the crew. He could never be as smart as Data, as bold as Worf or Tasha, or be as great a leader as Picard. At least with Tasha we could have seen her grow from her role as a security officer to perhaps a command position. Instead we had seven years of a gorilla who's only character development was growing a beard.

Attached: star_trek_the_next_generation.lieutenant_tasha_yar.jpg (240x320, 13K)

Who is this man? Don't you know there was no black captain in star trek until STD

Why do people call him a captain? He's really more like a mayor.

DS9 really lucked out getting some amazing theatrical actors on the show
TNG had Stewart but DS9 had a whole cast of them

where Bash at?

Someone ordered an earl grey hot. She'll be back after she takes care of the customer.

Picard mentoring Tasha would have been an amazing series-long arc. Her getting her own ship would have made him as proud as any father.

And if they'd developed Tasha's relationship with Data it would have given the character a chance to explore what he believes is love and added a whole new dimension to the character. And ya having Picard as a mentor/father figure would have perhaps given him more of a purpose towards the end of the show.

That's a big issue with the Riker/Picard dynamic. Riker bristled at Picard's advice because he really didn't think Picard had anything to teach him. Maybe because his own father was a piece of shit.

I lost my wife in Deep Space Nine
Oh, why did I go there
I should have stayed on the Enterprise
And never gone nowhere

A Gul with sweet talk from Cardassia Prime
His words were sweet like wine
He brought with him the Pah'Wraiths
And he done stole that gal of mine

When night comes a-creepin'
For me there'll be no sleepin'
What he sews, he'll be reapin'
'Cause Gul Dukat done me wrong

I lost my wife in Deep Space Nine
The day I heard the news
Dukat left me in my solitude
With the Deep Space Nine blues

i dropped star trek: discovery after the first season

did it get better?

Riker was first officer on board the Enterprise for 15 years
Imagine the experience other first officers could have gained under a year or so of Picard's tutilage before taking command of their own vessels.

season 2 is pretty dec

Yes, but not much. It is still easily the worst of the series and has no truly standout or "must watch" episodes.

Riker is a greedy man

>that autistic DS9fag who thinks he can write good parody songs
you are no Trekashi6ix9ine, now HE was a real lyricist

jealousy is an ugly emotion

its the sabbath
bashirfag is a jew

How's 'ds9' not proper star trek and who the fuck decides these things anyway

/pol/tards will not like it, but the single, most long-running, unifying theme and message of star trek is the peaceful co-existence of different races

Riker only cared about thick alien asses, otherwise he was just showing up to work whereas Tasha was boiling with passion and genuinely believed in Starfleet's goals. Within the context of the show Tasha has more of a reason to be there than Riker.

Unironically this, just stop trying
The songs you choose to rework are shit
The lyrics you write aren't even funny
Trekashi6ix9ine is still the greatest of all time and he wrote "faith in dukat" amongst other great jingles

Trips confirm what you say is true. I also agree wholeheartedly.

Riker latched onto Picard because he has daddy issues.

Do you think the reason Riker began feeding is because he felt his life was unfulfilling?

Ira Behr shit the bed because viewers liked based Dukat, instead of identifying with Bajorniggers crying about muh Prophets and muh occupation.

No, he's a former jock from Alaska. His metabolism caught up with him in S2 but he never modified his diet to match.

shut up, Wil

so why did it never work out between picard and dr crusher?

they're just frustrating to watch

Picard was only using Beverly so he could get to Wesley and pound his boipucci

I'm gonna give Ezri nine deep in her space, nawmeen?

They decided to keep it professional and not fuck up their working relationshp. Not to mention the whole thing with her ex-husband/his best friend making it feel a bit ick.

Honestly, this is the part of the new picard show that worries me the most. As much of a cockblock as it would be, I honestly think their best option is to just never mention or acknowledge it.

If nothing else, gotta give him credit for immersing himself this much in his role.
Imagine if he was given a character that wasn't a giant worthless piece of shit. Could be POTUS today.

Picard knows he's gotta go it alone as captain and doesn't want to drag Beverly into his bullshit when she has a chance to meet someone who could devote their whole life to her and make her happier than he ever could

No human character gets pussy in this series, except Riker.

Crusher was playing the long game, but not the one you think. She hated Picard. She blamed him for the death of her husband and for making her a single mother with an emasculate son. So she strung Picard along. Gave him just enough to think she was the one. For years, a hidden passion boiled under his carefully managed captain's persona. To make a move on his crewmate and best friend's wife would undo all of his principles, would be a betrayal of who he strove to be. For seven years, Picard struggled with his buried lust for her until it finally broke free. Picard threw away everything to confess his love for her only to be completely rejected. His artificial heart was broken and would never work again.

how do star trek fans you meet IRL look like?

I knew this autistic incel who liked star trek and he was like 5 feet tall and had super long dread locks. Not making this up. He was the type of guy who named his computer. And yes it was a female name.

Fat sacks of shit that haven't bathed since the Bush administration.

the only person irl who i know that has watched star trek is actually a pretty cute girl. shame i'm gay.

One time I was leaving the store and I walked past this black guy who was probably in his 40s and he had on a shirt that was covered with a graphic of the original Enterprise similar to this. He was a normal looking guy, in shape and seemed pretty confident. I almost didn't notice him, otherwise I would have said nice shirt as he passed.

Attached: images.jpg (225x225, 8K)

That depends on what you mean by "fans".

Y-you too

O'Brein/Keiko

Star Trek fans don't exist IRL anymore. They all died off from old age.

I love Taste of Armageddon.
I think it's one of the few Star Trek episodes that just perfectly captures the moral its presenting. War is hell.

They should know by now, it's pointless.

You wouldn't dare say that to his face.

The one that got stuck in the chair during that dinner in front of all the Starfleet brass and I had to oil up his love handles before we could slide him out. It was partially my fault because I kept asking him if he wanted gravy with everything. He went through probably a gallon of that shit.

Attached: frpBIF2.jpg (600x800, 61K)

Chakotay and Riker. They didn't bring anything to the mission. Spock and T'Pol tempered their commanding officer with logic. Kira was Sisko's confidant for dealing with Bajoran politics. Saru is the voice of reason and a capable acting captain. Riker basically shits himself anytime he has to take control of the ship. In that sense, Chakotay might be more useful than Riker. At least he can handle spiritual matters. Riker is useless. It's like that kid who got held back in the same grade year after year.

Did anyone really like this useless misogynist showboat or were they just playing the game?

The bajoran's plight would have been more serious if a lot of them actually died. In the original numbers less bajorans died in the occupation than jews died in the holocaust for fucks sake
