In the future, the Sun has aged and is about to turn into a red giant, pushing the nations of the world to consolidate into the United Earth Government, a world government, to initiate a project to move the Earth out of the Solar System to the Alpha Centauri system, in order to preserve further human civilization. Enormous thrusters running on fusion power are built across the planet to propel the Earth.
and yet;
A box office success, it has grossed over $692 million worldwide, including $685 million in China.[2] It is China's second highest-grossing film of all time,[4] 2019's highest-grossing film worldwide,[5] the second highest-grossing non-English film of all time, and one of the top 20 highest-grossing science fiction films of all time.
Apart from the "taking humanity to alpha centauri", it's plausible. The (future) red giant phase of the sun is expected, and one of the options to avoid it would be to move the Earth out of reach of the Sun's expansion.
Connor Campbell
By using thrusters*
Of course, not only the expansion will happen only in hundreds of millions of years, but our tech is nowhere near advanced enough to do that kind of stuff.
Matthew Phillips
>his movie sounds retarded; So does capeshit but burgers eat it everytime. What is wrong with Chinks then?
Isaac Fisher

Jacob Jenkins
The movie is just Chinese Armageddon
The short story is awesome
Isaac Sanchez
civilization will be long gone before the sun reaches that stage. we're talking billions of years. humans been around for 2 mil but at the rate we're going we'll be gone in less than a thousand
Jonathan Sanchez
chinese? Apparently chinese movies are where its at now. Since Hollywood is mired in US politics and butthurt about Trump, I haven't seen anything good come out of Hollywood other than capeshit since 2015.
Daniel Campbell
>Now even chinkshit is getting shilled on Yea Forums That's it everyone. Pack it up. Yea Forums is dead. We can all go home now.
Christopher Green

Brandon Wilson
I saw it. It was a good movie.
Jace Ward
You couldn't pay me enough to watch a movie featuring a bunch of ugly soulless gooks that all look the same and speak an awful language like chinese. Also from what you posted this movie sounds suspiciously like CCP propaganda.
Ryan Cox
Sounds just as retarded Mortal Engines.
Zachary Rivera
I think thats just a boy
Isaiah Reed
>movie begins with a voiceover about wildfires, climate change, quickening of natural disasters >"Holy fuck, China has real problems with pollution, is this going to be an actual self aware critique on their own-?" >nah, the sun's gonna blow up for no reason >"Huh, not a lot of black people in the international world government, only cities left are underground beneath the giant engines, only half the planet has engines, I wonder which half of the earth China chose to abandon-it's the half with Africa, isn't it? >The Chinese hero teams up with the faithful Russian to stand up against the corrupt American English speaking robot >The corrupt American robot just wants everyone to go to sleep, let the robot lie and make all the decisions >The corrupt American robot rejects the Chinese heroes new plan to (I kid you not) detonate the red spot on Jupiter and use the shockwave to put the earth back on course (instead of destroying the earth) because the Israeli scientists already worked it out and said it would not work, and the American robot does whatever the Israeli's say >The cowardly Japanese pilot kills himself while the sturdy North Korean pilot heroically rallies to go back and help the heroes >When the Chinese Hero finally corners the American robot about it's lies, it starts speaking French, becomes truthful and compassionate >The Chinese hero burns the American robot using Russian vodka, then takes rightful control of the space ship and saves the earth
John Jones
this movie sounds fantastic
Jaxson Turner
Holy shit, this was crap just boring stupid people crawling everywhere for half of the entire movie.
Not even subtitles could redeem this incoherent nonsense.
Thomas Carter
>A box office success, it has grossed over $692 million worldwide, including $685 million in China >Only made 7 million outside of China Nobody wants to watch Chink schlock that's basically them claiming to be better than everyone.
Angel Cooper
did you know china limits the number of films allowed to be shown in theaters each year? its about less than 60, so basically 1 a week. they set up the domestic shit Chinese owned/produced movies to have zero competition. even then, like typical Chinese, they cheat and pump up the audience count with multiple showuing happing at the same time in the same room with the same 'people' every ten minutes. ghost theaters are also a thing, where they just dont seem to exist anywhere but on paper.
as you can imagine, western producers get pretty fucking pissed when they pay all the kick backs and 'only' make 2 bucks a ticket, from the typical 4 in the west, just to have no one show up. and thats after all the kick backs to the national party to make sure its wholesome for Chinese audiences. some numbers for that has been as high as 60-80 million bucks.
Fun adnidote, i had this big argument with this comuinity collage communist about how capitalists use big media is used to control the population. he believes that the Chinese government doesn't do this at all, and its just the west being greedy. even though the national party themselves say this publicly. fun times in polly sci 110.
Aiden Wood
is this chink kino?
Jayden Edwards
Maybe a tangent, but shady shit in business is how Chinese and Indians operate. Working in the pharma industry, everybody hates having anything to do with those people
Justin Hill
Operation Mekong and Operation Red Sea. Wolf Warrior 2 was also huge
Benjamin White
>Fun adnidote >polly sci
can I hazard a guess as to how you met said "community collage communist"?

Project Gutenberg (Chow Yun-Fat, Aaron Kwok) is pretty good.
Ryder Clark
Same guy who wrote the Three Body Problem Series which Amazon is in the process of adapting. His work is pretty good for the most part, and yeah a lot of the ideas are kinda ridiculous but so is most scifi, the Chinese just have differing sensibilities regarding what parts they make come up with serious scifibabble justifications for and what parts they just take as a given. Ultimately it is no more ridiculous than something like Ringworld.
The novel is a masterpiece of modern science fiction but the movie adaption looks like fucking garbage.
Evan Perry
Calling Liu Cixins work "pretty good" is an understatement. The fact that nobody ITT seems to know about him and his books just shows how fucking pleb Yea Forums has become.
