What is the appeal of Repo: The Genetic Opera?
I was hoping to like it because the aesthetic seemed cool but the music and acting were absolutely shit tier.

You ever been in a Hot Topic?

I liked it in high school when my at the time big titty asian gf showed it to me.

it's generally loved by theater geeks and alt-chicks. it's not necessarily a chick movie, but women generally like it more than men. i think i saw half of it, i appreciated it. was surreal and kept me interested.

if moulin rouge isnt in your top 10, youll probably think its meh

>Darren Lynn Bousman comes to my college to screen Repo for students
>holds Q&A afterward
>nobody raises hands for 10 awkward seconds
>kid next to me raises hand
>asks "why do you make such shitty movies"
>entire audience erupts into laughter
>Darren storms out of the room and doesn't return
>some of the staff are even laughing
>one utters off mic "oh man he's never going to want to come here again is he"

I had never even heard of this movie until I watched it with a good. I had to hide my face the entire time because of how shitty it was.
That's pretty much why the chick liked it. She's psuedo-Goth.

ZYDRATE COMES IN A LITTLE GLASS VIAL

I remember liking it. It was a fun movie. Way better than that shitty knock off with Jude Law.

A LITTLE GLASS VIAL?

did this actually happen or is this just a meme?

I'm willing to believe it. I know the dude constantly goes around to cities still showing screenings of his movies. It's pretty pathetic.

God-tier movie with kino aesthetics, concept and characters

>The creeeam of the crop

No, it happened. Full Sail University, November 2008. He attended the school about a decade or so prior. I had just begun my degree that month, and went to the event. It was surreal. Darren is known for going to various screenings of his films, no matter how small the venue is, because his films actually do, suck, and he has a huge inferiority complex.

Holy shit

>tfw will never have the balls to do this to my most hated directors/actors

I choose to believe this even though its probably not true

Oh wow that's even worse, that's his alma mater.

This is amazing. I totally believe it. How was your time at Full Sail? I looked at them for game development

> Full Sail University (fullsail.edu), welcomed Full Sail graduate Darren Lynn Bousman, acclaimed Director of the horror film series Saw II, III & IV, to its Full Sail Live facility on Monday, November 17, 2008 for a live screening of his latest film, Repo! The Genetic Opera. The screening was followed by a Q&A session for current students and faculty of the university, and also featured actor and co-writer Terrance Zdunich and fellow Full Sail graduate, Will Weyer, a flash developer and co-founder of the company Wiretree that produced the Repo! official website.

well that part of your story checks out

Man I'd kill for video footage of this exchange

all memes aside: why DOES he make such shitty movies?

i'd laugh and then feel kinda bad for the guy.

It was great, really unique experience. I was in the film program and their degrees are 4 year degrees condensed into 28 months, so you're working like 5-6 days a week, and have class/lab times at realworld crazy hours to mimic what it's like to work in your industry on set. Lots of hands on labs, time with gear and camera. Glad I went, gets you out into the field really fast to hit the ground running.
I'm honestly amazed there's any record of the event online, so that's great to see it vindicated. I remember my degree began November 15th 2008, so those dates they provided are definitely correct. I went with some friends I just made because this was the first time a major director had come to visit and show one of their works at the school.

The Devil's Carnival musicals are fun too. Emilie Autumn bites off a man's ear. I like very theatrical shit, and the actors all seem really into their roles.

I saw this in theaters. All the scene kids were there.
