>Kill her and act like it's a tragedy
I started laughing when I realized where this was going.

She had a better characterization in this one episode than Burnham had in the whole series.
Really liked her design, shame she died.

Got too expensive on the make-up.

Next episode they'll lose the ship. Short treks saved forever.

And those greasy burrito farts she made every time she moved was giving her a bleeding anus.

If they had just killed off Burnham in S1 and made Pike the MC I could get behind this season a lot more. A lot of the stuff where they're actually exploring stuff and solving problems is on point and entertaining, and overall I'm fairly impressed that this "course correction" is turning out more successful than anticipated, but they keep cutting back to Michael and her drama to that brings everything to a screeching halt.

What pisses me off most is they had this character with a shitload of potentially interesting plotlines. And the only one worth remember is the one where they get rid of the character. If its for budgetary reasons it is even more idiotic as they already spent so much time hoisting her in costume for the average 5 seconds she appeared in season 1 episodes. But noo we had to follow Michael on her random adventures and see how she can do everything. Who needs well developed characters when you have a burnham... stupid fucks.

How come the federation allows shit like this but not minor augmentation like Khan?
Why didn't Starfleet spring for a wig?

kinda want to do lewd things to cybergirl

Attached: Airiam .jpg (942x942, 113K)

What the fuck? Is that an android? I havent seen std but if it is then that would be new levels of retarded

i quit this show a season ago but this design is pretty kino looking and wasted on garbage

They killed Nebula!?

What federation scientist decided to make her nostrils lopsided?

She's a human cyborg.

So who's hotter?

>or Season 2 Airiam

Attached: image.jpg (214x317, 9K)

A resurrected human brain in a robot body. Also it's, interestingly, presented as a major handicap for the character, she has limited memory etc, they could've done much more with her, the setup was asking for so many kino plots and they wasted everything on a single episode.

It was a very good episode, imo, even if a bit hasted, but, ehhh...

First one is prettier, but you just know the second girl is crazy in bed.

It's better than the first season in a lot of ways. The tone is more friendly, there's more emphasis on teamwork. I was kinda shocked how much they changed in some areas, but that's not to say the show is not without its dumb moments. Theres still a lot of problems inherited from the first season, and a couple new one here and there, and the entire subplot with Burnham and Spock's relationship is dry as sandpaper, but it's watchable, and it's a step in the right direction.

why didn't they just beam her back when she got thrown out of the airlock?

I hope this is going to be explained. Maybe Pike just considered her to be too dangerous?

STD is objectively the worst star trek

The scene where they played chess and Spock effortlessly made Michael realize all her bullshit was good.

That's still Enterprise.

unironically better than voyager

Will Tilly use her memories to make an experience?

Everything in this show is stupid. Like the whole Airiam is acting suspicious but Nhan (bread) does jack shit but hide behind the door watching her. It's moments like this that really grate on me.

Asked my girlfriend the same thing. They'll probably say (or the writers allready did and it got caught out), that the normal systems were mostly down. Which is why they had to rely on the spore drive in that whole messy scene.

He's Arnold, Arnold Rimmer!!
ah memories

s2 looks like a fucking hon.

Good ol' southern boy and Vulcan romance is based. Even better than southern boy and uptight fleet Brit romance.

Okay okay look. You gotta slow your roll. Take a minute and think about it. I will be the first to say how terrible Voyeur and Entershit were.
But are they really worse than STD?

Why was she augmented? Was there an accident?

shuttle crash

>You need to lower the shields, Captain. The mines are attracted to it. - Ok, lower shields
5 mins later
>Captain, shields at 35%.
Why can't they just keep track of plot and continuity for more than three seconds??!!

>cute human woman just eloped with her husband in Hawaii
>shuttle crash kills the husband, barely enough of her survives to be salvaged by cybernetically augmenting her
>its treated as a disability, as she has limited mental capacity to store memories, so she has to tediously go through everything she experiences each week and delete or store what she wants
>always stores her memories with Tilly and Keyla because they're besties

It's second season objectively better than most trek's second seasons.

Interesting they killed her off, as she is the only attractive actress on the entire show. You can't tell of course because they had to completely mask her beauty.

Detmer is cute

In universe she's not considered to be a cool looking robot chick but a handicapped person with a traumatic past. This sort of explains why nobody suspects her of anything.

Why not just beam her back into the ship?

i like that noise though

>Data was a big deal cause he was a robot in star fleet
>just kidding we had like a dozen robot people in star fleet a long time ago

Data was an actual android from the get go.
Airiam is a girl trapped in a futuristic wheelchair.

That would have been neat if it had been brought up in advance of five minutes before her death.

As a writer I avoid this, but I don't judge it very harshly. If you write for good actors, this is just another dependable work around under deadline. Have you ever been new to a group and immediately inferred someone's importance based on the way the group responds to them? If so, why not write a more believable life when you're done posting on Yea Forums?

Based

Maybe if she put out for the director her character wouldn't have been written off.

Just so I am clear... Michael was about to open the door to the robot lady (disobeying orders some more as she does every episode) when the security lady opened the air lock instead. Right??

Yes.

Anyone know how many episodes we get this season? Google shows dates for 11 but I thought we were getting 14.

Also when is Picard due?

Pike wanted to save on transporter costs

Why is gamora looking at me like that

14, and probably December

Is that nebula from guardians/avengers

Khan was not 'minor augmentation', he was heavily-engineered eugenics from long before the Federation's rules for allowable augments, which I'm sure his very existence violates on every ethical and legal level for Federation time. Hell, the amount of hoops they had to navigate through to get Spock born were pushing the boundaries of genetic experimentation.

I was laughable to say the least.

She's not a robot, she's a cyborg. That part is reasonable.

Wait, they killed ensign Frieza?

I wouldn't put it past them. In fact I guarantee they're going to do this since they seem to bring everyone back they kill. Especially if they're a gay or a woman.

It was kind of nice they finally went through with actually blowing someone out of the airlock since it's a running gag in almost every series

> Airiam was played by Sara Mitich in the first season and by Hannah Cheesman in the second season. Discounting occasions in which characters have been recast due to story lines set in alternate or earlier time frames, this was the first time since Saavik that an ongoing supporting character has changed actors, and the only time this has occurred in a Trek TV series (notwithstanding Dax changing hosts in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).

Man, Sara-fu must have really effed up somehow.

>>Take minor background character like twenty episodes in
It's the Michael Burnham Universe so what did you expect?
Imagine Discovery except instead of Burnham is the red angel (spoiler) we had an actual Star Trek show that revolved around an entire ensemble crew.

It's frustrating because I do like a lot of the supporting cast. I like Airiam's backstory, it would be great if she had more than one fucking episode before being killed off. Hugh was a good moral compass, shame he got killed off after barely any lines, then brought back to just be more traumatised. Saru, Pike and Dyke Engineer are obviously all great.

Just kill Michael, please. She gets 90% of the screentime.

Mr. ADHD, you missed the part where they specifically raised the shields after someone started manually steering the mines into them

That was annoying. What was even more annoying is that Burnham just leaves her there dying on the floor, even after she locks cyborg girl in a room. Like, you don't even check on her?

Her designs was completely wasted in this shit show. Fuck STD.

Noice choice

The obvious planted question was "how you plan to show diversity in handicaps in the future" The answer by the creator is given: "In the future when medicine has cured all disabilities........."

It's like they never watched any Star Trek at all. Geordi was blind, the one chick on DS9 was in a wheelchair, Pike was in a motorized wheel chair..........

Next week is the funeral.
Overall though, this season has been pretty decent.

Attached: ZcbLp1543983381.jpg (560x442, 35K)

The worst part is that they forgot to just beam her aboard. It's not like space kills you instantly.

They beamed through shields just the other week.

most retarded cyber implant, in fragility and location for it's importance. And why did she not reseal her helmet and have it give her a mix of her home planets air

This is such a cool fucking character concept, why would they just waste it? This is exactly the sort of character concept that would be a great vehicle for Trek stories. She could've been the series' Data or Doctor-type character trying to figure out her humanity.

Not that user, and I love the Boys from the Dwarf, but series 7 was as bad as 8 and 9.

oh shit is she the belter whore from the expanse???? she never seemed lanky tho

They could have beamed her aboard when it became clear that she was a threat
They could have beamed armed people over to stop her
They could have beamed Nhan aboard while she was suffocating, and indeed Michael could have helped her or even spared a glance in her general direction while she was crawling on the floor trying to reach her respirator

Whoah cool a live-action DBZ.

Did Frieza die already?

Season 1 Airiam is still in the show, she's one of the coffin bearers for her next episode

Even with the digital memories uploaded to the ship, the real, biological part of her is dead. Memories themselves don't mean much.

Attached: natty_catty.jpg (450x606, 86K)

>moved all of her memories to Discovery
>could still be brought back in the end through the power of friendship
And here I thought this season might still be salvageable after Saru's episode.

My cope headcanon is that Airiam or Control set up a field to block further beaming in or out, which would have been the logical thing to do to prevent the Disco crew interfering and the sort of thing a Section 31 facility could easily have. Maybe they even wrote and shot some exposition but it got cut.

It could depend on how the memories are stored, they were presented as just video playback but maybe emotional response and inner monologue is tied up in the data along with sensory input.

If anything, this episode shows very clearly why he might have preferred the beeping wheelchair to a new, hackable body.

They said when they got there that they couldn't get proper readings of inside the station because it was specifically designed to stop it, being a former prison. I don't need further time wasted with mindless "blah blah tech tech I can't get a lock blah blah" exposition.

That's even if you ignore that the character mind controlled by Section 31 Skynet said "Please blow me out this airlock to my death or I'll kill you, I'll give the AI the data it's trying to get it's hands on, then I'll destroy the Discovery and kill everyone on board it".

>fell asleep catching up on S2 this morning
>had a lewd dream about me and tilly before I got woken up by my phone
>now when I watch I take all my chances to check her out

W-what's happening to me bros

The transporters always serve as s plot convenience device in ST. You could solve most of the stories just by teleporting people around.

Nothing, you just have horrible taste in women.

Good observation.

>This is such a cool fucking character concept, why would they just waste it?
There's not going to be another season after this, so they don't care. Might as well just kill her for a cheap pop.

First off, if they could beam people in there's no reason to believe they couldn't beam them out. If they couldn't get proper readings they'd have no way to know they weren't beaming people into walls or whatever. Beaming people out would be significantly easier.
Secondly, they were one room away from an airlock. They were actually further inside when they beamed in than when shit started to go down. Whatever convenient issue was interfering with their ability to beam people out, I refuse to believe it was more severe closer to the outside of the station.
And on that topic, they could have used the airlock to get in and provide support.

>There's not going to be another season after this, so they don't care

lmao.

It's already been renewed, genius.

It's the most popular show in Germany and in top 10 of most watched on Netflix in Europe. They're going to shit out new seasons forever, third was already confirmed.

>they could've resolved the whole situation by beaming them back to the ship
>YOU HAVE TO OPEN THE AIRLOCK IT'S THE ONLY WAY
this show is dumb as shit

Literally the only place the show doesn't have a huge audience is America because it's the only place it isn't on Netflix

Sure it has. Will never be made. Screencap this.

Are you going with the ME theories that were disproven as soon as Pike explained why he doesn't like holograms?

It's like CBS basically hates money.
On the other hand, they always made profit on selling the shows to other stations, maybe they just didn't learn and consider the whole streaming thing as a side hustle.

>the normal systems were mostly down
yeah nah. the transporter was functional, that's how they got there in the first place. also as soon as they arrived, Pike literally said
>be careful. standing by to beam you out
it's just shit tier writing really

VERY good point. Didn't think about that.

>yeah nah. the transporter was functional, that's how they got there in the first place.

Yea, fuck, you are right. That IS probably a big "whoopsie" of the writers to have the drama. Meh.
Tbf, the cassical trope of opening of the airlock to kill folks in sci fi is hard to pull off in Star Trek, where they can literally solve 90% of the shit the writers can come up with by just pressing some buttons.

>has limited mental capacity to store memories
I bet she stores everything in 4K 7.1
just store it in low-def 32kbps mp3 bitch

That would probably still be better quality than what humans brain are capable of naturally.

It's almost weird that in an episode that was overall written considerably neatly they made such blunder, I'm pretty sure they're going to explain it somehow.

The dilemma of original or copy still remains.
Doesn't matter with robots but humans are another deal.

Haven't watched the past three episodes, are they any good?

Yes.

Human brain is as analogue as they get.
We just remember some basics and then brain re-imagines the details in real time. That's why human evidence is so unreliable.

The show was adamant that "human" Airiam was a separate being from her digital memories or whatever you'd call the stuff that was uploaded to Discovery.

They literally said earlier that Control didn't allow them to beam the crew back and they will have to disable it before they can return. They only disabled Control after Airiam was death process.

The writers must be aware of the Mary Sue memes because she's getting shat on hard this season which culminated in the last episode with Spock exposing her as an ego maniac who thinks that the world revolves around her.

>Implying a communist """utopia""" can make quality products

>beaming through the shields
When will Star Trek writers learn...

So did the squid probe come from a potential future where Control had wiped out all sentient life in the galaxy?

I think that's what they're implying, yes.

What a waste.

>How does Burnham, a known mutineer, keep getting away with disregarding direct orders?
The charges were dropped after mirror universe Georgiou lie-testified.
So Burnham is pretty much living a lie.

Why on earth would they cast with these cartoon characters in mind? I can at least understand why people would think the tardigrade thing was a ripoff; it's a central element of the story. But what reason could they have possibly had to cast based on the character designs of this shitty looking game?

Can they hold Pike hostage and keep him as the captain of discovery from now on until the end of the run please

Meaningless as the robot lady told burnham everything is once again about her.

but she looks good with the clothes off though

The same reason a thief steals as much as she can.

You're sick.

Attached: 15117405684210.gif (245x185, 964K)

Felt the same way. I noticed this a few episodes ago with the Asian character too. They all of a sudden needed to include him more, so they had him contribute by reading shit off a monitor or something, like he's really needed. The robot girl turns out to be not a full robot, which is quite surprising since she never showed any human characteristics this whole time besides form. I still don't know which 1 of the front seat girls is the pilot...This show is a joke.

Better off to blow up Discovery and have Pike go back to his ship. Start over there with a whole new cast besides him.

But the source material in this case is so... well... shitty. Genuinely Tardigrades is objectively ugly

>I still don't know which 1 of the front seat girls is the pilot...This show is a joke.

You might actually be brain damaged if you're being serious about this

They both seem to do exactly the same thing. Sorry if I don't pay enough attention to such pointless aspects of a terrible show. You might be brain damaged too if you do pay attention to that. I bet you also know the Asian and black guys names as well.

dude they said only about hundreds of times how detmer's the pilot especially in season 2.. don't blame your lack of attention on the show's quality.. it's not like the show lacks other faults and it really hurts your argument.

that's because it's not the source material.
like, the clip of the tardigrade hugging a naked guy and teleporting through space was put on youtube two months before Discovery premiered. how the fuck do you rip off something and make a high-budget TV show out of it in two months?

>where was Sulu sitting?
>the qt3.14 in Sulu's spot said she got her pilot's license at 12
>Pike told her to fly good
>she's the one being told where to go when they warp off to somewhere mark wherever.
>durrr who's the pilot

Attached: dsc-202-prev-3.jpg (1600x1066, 298K)

Detmer is given piloting orders or talks about doing pilot stuff literally every other episode. Guys right, you're brain dead.

>I bet you also know the Asian and black guys names as well.

It's hilarious that you think this is like, some impossible thing

So they actually gave the bridge crew names this season? cool. Any of them actually talk yet?

Ahem, STD is not Trek

>Giving a flying fuck about The Michael Burnham Show™ starring Michael Burnham

>Any person watching the two works will instantly see the similarities and even think they are the same production.

haha yeah look at this screenshot from Discovery where Tilly is doing her makeup in the back seat of a shuttle. it's not even 25% different!

Attached: carter_natasha_ship1.jpg (600x324, 37K)

It went from infuriatingly bad to completely uninteresting and flat. They keep locking Michael in plot jars so she can’t do literally fucking everything but then another character does the same type of “literally everything” Michael would have done.

It's like they thought Star Trek fans were idiots or something

>Dyke Engineer
I loved her to death and would’ve preferred she be the main character, if they were going to force a main character. She was old, dignified, and serious enough that you could believe she could solve just about any problem with duct tape. Like a polar opposite to Michael.

Saru
Pike
Dyke Engineer
Dead Robot lady
Owosekun
That's the type of cast you want in a star trek show.

Have they even explained anything about any of the secondary crew? What's that metal shit on the redhead's skull? What's Ensign Daft-Punk's deal? I feel like my main problem with the show is that it isn't about a crew, just Mikey Sue, her chubby tumblr self-insert friend and the doctor guy.

Justice for Lt. Airiam

Attached: 1552685942521.png (600x583, 273K)

Yeah they don't explain anything. They tried to have some more focus on the lesser known characters this season but not nearly enough. Last episode is a perfect example of how fucked the show is. They needed a dramatic ending with one of the lesser known characters so they forces some characterization in the first few minutes. As if the writers were saying "well now you know her, care! Come on, care you son of a bitch!"

Like all Star Trek shows, the first two to three seasons are always shit. I imagine this will get good ""eventually"".

>It gets good when X shaves hair. It gets good when X grows beard. It gets good when X enters war.
So we are basically waiting for Michael Burnham to shave her head and grow a beard and become a warrior.

Or she'll be killed off if we're lucky, and then we can get a good show.

That can’t be true. We all know Michael has to be the one to create the borg.

I guess being raised by Vulcans just makes you a cunt. If she was allowed to be a normal human with emotions she would be a lot better

She probably didn't want to be in the role where she barely had any screen time and had to wake up at 3am every day to start makeup. Nobody was even going to know it was her anyway and she could get better roles if she dropped the show.

I finally forced myself to watch the last episode.
I loved the part when they were fighing Android 17 and after Michael shuts her behind a door, she talks to Pike for 10 minutes instead of helping the girl that was about to suffocate.

Bravo Michael

So everyone knows how edgy and cool the show is

Their entire hope for future solvency is the streaming platform and tied the success of their streaming platform to STD. If they so much as reduce episodes per season of STD it will be a clear indication the streaming platform is the obvious failure it clearly is.

>it's a scifi show where a cast member has skin problems because of the makeup episode
When will they learn already?

Have you accepted the new Klingons yet?

When does the klingon with hair appear? Or has that already happened and I have just forgotten as all the other things that happen in STD?

Yes the Klingons suddenly have hair and more b&b style makeup so they can actually act.

They were shown in a single episode.

Metal shit on redhead is injuries sustained during the Battle of the Binary Stars on the USS Shenzou.

Yeah I yiked at this too

>They literally said earlier that Control didn't allow them to beam the crew back
