It's good because its realistic. There was a tendancy for new recruits to underestimate the Japanese soldier and be surprised on the battlefield by their tenacity, and the services had to constantly combat that.
It went both ways, btw, the Japanese thought American soldiers didnt have the will to be tough opponents and would give up easily.

The Americans depended on the overwhelming firepower and logistics. When they weren't to be found they usually caved. Individually they didn't have the willpower or courage of Japanese soldiers.
