I'm pretty worried. The trailer makes it looks like there's going to be way more human drama shit than is necessary. Some dumb interfamily melodrama mixed with environmentalism, that is likely to take upwards of 40 to 45 minutes of a movie that should be nearly exclusively about giant monsters fighting.

It depends on the movie, but the percentage is more 60 to 70% monster to 30-40% human stuff, and that's with the human stuff widely dispersed across the films.
The human charachters aren't the focal point of giant monster movies. The giant monsters are.
At most, a giant monster movie should have some talk about "oh no! pollution/radiation/human arrogance!", "what has science wrought!?", and "OH NO, it's (monster)!"
Otherwise the only other times humans matter is when theyre fighting with martians, or have something to do with one of the monsters (Mothra, Jet Jaguar). Anything else is uneccessary fluff.
These movies aren't dramas, theyre goofy monster mashups.

Watch a few of those again with a timer on to measure how much is spent on people doing stuff and how much in actual monster battling each other/the army. It's always surprisingly low, but since you're anticipating it for the whole movie, it feels longer.
