Im a manager at the biggest movie theater in New York and all of our Alita showings are ghost towns. On opening night and the following weeks we only had a maximum of 40 people. Most showings only have about 5 people at best now.

how did Zapan successfully frame Hugo for that guy's murder? They just take his word for it? There's no SUPER FORENSICS in the future, confirming through DNA, fingerprints, etc. who the real culprit is? There was no hard proof of Hugo being a murderer. Why did the Centurions accept Hugo's label as a murderer? I get there's no trials or anything in Iron City, but Zapan is a known hot-head whom several witnesses have seen wanting to take revenge on Alita and her friends. It's a good question. In the manga Hugo and crew try to jack Zapan without realizing he's a hunter-warrior but he purposely let them get him so he could kill them because they're wanted criminals. In the movie he just comes across them and kills the guy they were going after in order to frame them even though what they were doing is illegal anyways.

Saw this the other night and I can't believe anybody genuinely likes this movie enough to obsess over it this much. The action sequences were good and the world was interesting, but everytime somebody opened their mouth it was shitty expository dialogue that felt like the writer telling me about the world instead of showing it to me naturally. Besides Alita herself (who gets by on cuteness alone), all of the actors gave the most wooden, unlikeable performances I've seen in a while. The romance was terrible as well; there was such a lack of chemistry and believability I actually cheered out loud when he died. Very lukewarm movie, glad I got my tickets for free.

I'm very curious what their level of success was and if they bet Alita would fail financially. I'm betting from the way Rodriguez and Cameron spoke about a sequel, they said "if it made any money." It had no sense of conversational flow. It felt, to me, like the opposite of what you describe. A moment that stands out in my memory is the scene where Grewishka cuts Alita into pieces, which leads with him talking about his backstory for no reason while she hides behind the pillar.
