To be honest, I got the point of the Ultimates, it was an attempt to make a more realistic version of the Avengers. I do definitely think that the Hulk would be 100% true savage in real life, but the rest pretty much pushes it to being needlessly edgy. Like with Hank Pym being a wifebeater, instead of doing that, why not have them just be divorced from the getgo? And Thor... I guess there weren't many options to take with him but I personally would just make him a total frat boy from Asgard that fell in love with the earthlings after having a spat with his dad(that Loki caused). And also making the Odinforce power up to be more dangerous and easier for him to fall into and something that Thor struggles with. Trying to make sure that the overwhelming berserker power is not taking over him is something that could have interesting character development moments.

During Ultimatim, Magneto fucks up the Earth with his powers causing floods and earthquakes and shit. Pretty much the only thing we see from Spider-Man during this is his swimming through an entirely flooded New York saving as many people as he can. By the end of it, it's heavily implied that he drowned or something. Peter is no where to be seen and all MJ and Aunt May find is his mask and they cry.
Then after this there is a soft reboot where the events of Ultimatum took place but Spider-Man is just completely fine. A couple years after THAT is when Spider-Man dies, not necessarily to the Green Goblin but to fighting the entire Sinster Six with a gunshot wound from the Punisher and accidently blowing himself up after beating the shit out of the Goblin with a truck.
Then after that, he comes back and styles on the new black Spider. It basically turned out because of special chemicals used in the spider that bit him and the goblin serum, both him and Norman Osborn are immortal. Then after that I don't fucking know because I stopped reading, last I heard the entire Ult universe merged with the main universe.

Well it's subjective, House of M was ok besides Bendis' usual cringey dialouge and the editors trying to ram every possible character into the story....But between that and Morrison's run they retconned basically every plot line he came up with because reasons...

As a result it pissed Morrison off so much that he refuses to work for marvel to this very day, nearly 23 years after the fact.

Yeah, I remember the flood thing, didn't remember he "died" there. But now its coming back to me. JJJ even writes some stuff about spiderman being a hero and whatnot.
