Opinions?

I lived it as a guy who skates. Any skaters here?

I'm a skater and think this film really missed its mark. I'm a snobby film grad tho so

it looks like a try hard harmony korine/larry clark type of 'indie' movie.

cannot even believe that te guy has intellectual and emotional habilities to direct a movie, desu.

Liked it more than I thought I would. The scene where all the skaters are running from cops and its shot like some kind of epic battle scene was really cool. I really sympathized with Lucas Hedges' older brother character. Minding the Gap is the definitive skating film of the decade though.

Definitely got some Kids vibes from this.
Street skater or Vert/Park?

Always been street. Love flatground chills with the homies. I keep having dreams where I'm skating a bowl so I think I'll learn. Shredding a miniramp looks fun

Also, not to go off-topic, but I watched this again with Jonah Hill's commentary track and it's one of the worst I've heard in recent memory. He just pretends he's some celebrated cinephile and talks endlessly about whatever stuff he's referencing and his own cinematography and editing choices. I wanted to hear him talk about some of the stuff he wrote for the screenplay, because there's some interesting stuff. At the very least I wanted to hear him explain what he was thinking with that middle school sex scene.

Only time he mentions the story is for stupid shit. First time I watched it I thought the older brother always drinking orange juice was because he used to be a drunk since his mom was a whore, and was using it as a surrogate. I'm obviously reading into it a simple detail, but I just thought it was a possibility, and it explains why he's so concerned with his bro coming in drunk at night when he doesn't care about him much in earlier scenes. But in the commentary Jonah's just like "I was thinking, what could be the stupidest thing for this character to do. lol what about he drinks orange juice all the time. Isn't that random?" I guess he just had a really good cast and crew for this movie, because I don't know if he has the chops to do something original like this in the future.

I'll check it out man!
I know what you mean, street is really fun with mates. But give park a try too, I need to get back into it, I was close to dropping in a couple weeks ago.

Word I deff want to drop in this week and just pump and carve

i was born in late 90's so i can't relate

You go get it man, imma start practicing tomorrow man have a good sesh

hell yeah homie you too bro

Jonah Hill became a pretentious faggot when he lost weight.

i just watched 40 year old virgin for the first time and holy fuck was he a lard ass

The older brother was great.
>Those TMNT bedsheets
Feels

I can't see a fat kid like Seth Rogen doing anything but breaking hid deck trying to learn to kickflip.

It was a fun comfy coming of age movie, enjoyed more then most of the recent movies in that genre. Great soundtrack.

>born in the early 90’s
>starting skating in the late 90’s early 00’s
>skateboarding culture was everywhere and it was beautiful
>had a whole group of friends that would just skate all day every day
>anywhere you’d go you’d see kids out skating
>now approaching 30
>still skate when I can
>nearly 2 decades of skating has taken a real number on my body
>ankles, knees, and back are fucked
>still love it
>drive around and never see any kids outside skating
>loading docks, stair cases, and manny pads are vacant
>all local skate shops have closed
>only “skating” I ever see is kids with longboards outfitted with their SUPREME gear and Thrasher hoodies
>seems like more of a fashion thing now than anything

Hold me. I want to go back

Damn where you at. I'm in West Australia and skating here is thriving.

He cute

It sucked.

Watch KIDS instead.

I was bullied by the skaters so I don't care

Explain user?

I'm more into roller-blading myself.
What is wrong with longboards?
