I've only watched a bad camrip of TDW. I've fast-forwarded through Nigger Panther & Ragnarok. I have no intention of watching Captain Marvel, bar maybe the Jude Law scenes, when a BR rip comes out. The Ant-Man flicks and Avengers 2/3 I've seen once. All the rest, I've watched multiple times, due to the tv putting them on some late night or something. I won't even see Endgame in the theaters. The problem is that the newer characters just aren't being developed as well. Cap and Iron man especially have had decent arcs in most of the (6+) films they've starred in.
Compare that to the new headliners: BP has had the same arc in two films, with his own film being not as good. Captain Marvel had a decent film, but her character was kind of bland. Doctor Strange is alright, but he works a lot better as an extra than a main character.
Yeah he'll be fine, he's no thespian but he seems to realise that and does a good job of the stuff he does.

I'm pretty sure even a normie can grasp the basic concept of "they're not going to delete the characters they've spent the last 5 years introducing". Only the actual children in the audience were fooled by that one.
That's why I actually think Infinity War wasn't a great movie. The stakes are built up but in the end you realize it wasn't for keeps. They have to undo it for business reasons. It takes you out of the story.
They'd have been smarter to spend a bit more of the runtime building up the universe. Then the ending cuts to planet after planet where the snap is happening and you're all "oh shit this is universal chaos" and THAT'S the consequences.
Then they snap a couple of the heroes instead of half of them so you're not sure if they'll actually come back or not. If you leave the ending with most of our heroes alive, but with a situation they have no power to actually fix, the future is much more up for grabs. Maybe they can only achieve a partial victory over Thanos and so it's bittersweet. Now they have to achieve a full victory because the future of the movies depends on recovering those characters.

$175 million is a relatively low budget for a current tentpole Marvel movie. Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and Doctor Strange all had $200M+, and that's not even counting the Avengers.

Looked it up and half of them are around 170mil and the rest are over 220mil. Ultron's the only one with an outlandishly high budget and antman, and a couple others in phase one were the cheapest. CM doesn't really stand out for being cheap.
