From what I've heard it's not that big difference anymore. USA varies between 40 to 50% (there was huge backlash when Disney demanded 60% from SW movies, which suggests that usual take is much lower) while foreign are between 40% to 25% for China. Average would be like 45% US, 35% world. Not THAT huge difference anyway.

It was a movie no one asked for, casting someone who doesn't look, act or speak like Harrison Ford in anyway, needlessly epmhasized Lando being pansexual just so Danny Glover could get his sjw points, and was overall boring and pointless.

That and is par for the course these days, the producers and director responded to legitimate critisim by attacking the audience and blaming trolls/incels/trump supporters/russian bots etc.

Justice League made a bit over 600 million, on 300 million budget, and lost 150-180 million. Technically, it made its budget back, but marketing was a loss.

Solo made a bit under 400 million, on 275 million budget, and supposedly only lost 80 million. Tack on marketing, and you're packing another 150 million. In reality, Solo would on paper have lost upwards of 200 million, upwards of 300 counting marketing. It's one of the biggest box office bombs in history.

This is why "Hollywood accounting" is a thing (the classic case of WB taking a "loss" on Order of the Phoenix springs to mind). It's also why you need to control the message. Put out that there's a loss, leak some numbers, quietly discount what you can, wipe what you can, weather what you can't, divert funds to cover things and write it off as expenses or similar. Shady shit happens all the fucking time in Hollywood accounting ledgers, and nobody ever dares call them on it. If they did, Hollywood would probably implode.

Approximately $150 million publicly, with King Arthur Legend of the Sword. Once you dig through all the rampant money laundering? Probably Solo, Sinbad (animated), or Lone Ranger. However, there's also a difference between what something loses, and the effect it has (win or lose). Solo bombed like a double Hiroshima, but Disney was able to weather it. Compare that to something like the 1964 Cleopatra: that movie was so expensive that it was a major contributor to breaking the entire sword and sandal genre. Forever. Didn't matter that comparatively it lost a lot less even adjusted for inflation.

I unironically really liked Solo. People were FURIOUS over how shitty TLJ was and combined with Star Wars fatigue = mega bomb.

100M budget movie and made only 7M. Now if you add marketing it should easly pass King Arthur or Cleopatra.

Marketing for Pluto Nash was only 25% ish of the production budget, much lower than the usual 50%.

Bitch, Han wasn't even the main star of his own movie. That Qi'ra chick played by the GoT actress who can't even act was the one who was mainly focused on and defeated the bad guy with the bad makeup at the end of the film. Han was made into a basic bitch for the majority of this fucking movie + it only existed to justify why hyper fuel exists in TLJ & as a quick cash grab.
This movie was a mistake.
