fucking IMAGINE not looking forward to the irishman after the redemption that was silence
Fucking IMAGINE not looking forward to the irishman after the redemption that was silence
NO. He should have made another actual period piece, and not another goddamn crime drama. We have decades of crime dramas. Put De Niro to work for once and stick him in something like The Mission again.
he should have used new actors for his new crime drama
old people just aren't that intimidating, their bones are weak
we'll see how the CGI works out
>Redemption
He's never even fallen
This started off slow but gradually became pure kino.
Wolf of Wall Street was kino and suck my left nut if you disagree
While Silence was brilliant, I can't help but be pissed knowing it was almost so much better but Scorsese faffed around for years.
Also, The Wolf of Wall Street is a masterpiece and a pseud-filter
De Niro is finished as a serious actor. If it’s not a popcorn flick he can phone in for a big paycheck he isn’t interested
Wolf is very low-stakes
financial crime just isn't very interesting compared to real crime
Holy shit I thought the dude on the right has Nipon gods tier calves.
Silence was The Passion of the Christ but for anti-theist fedoras.
>Hurr look at 2 hrs of pointless torture, look at these Jap Christians who martyr themselves and dont even understand Christianity. Oh and it ends with our lead and Liam Neeson converting to Buddhism and helping kill Christians
Oh but its ok, Kylo Ren had a cross in his hands at death so he's forgiven for helping kill Christians for the Shogun.
>Kylo Ren
Fuck I forgot he was the good priest who dies to save drowning Christians. It was Sony's Spiderman that becomes a Christian hunting Buddhist.
>fan fiction about how apostasy is ok when the bible is pretty clear you're supposed to die before apostatizing
Those Jesuits are literally roasting in hell and Scorsese will be with them soon.
>just isn't very interesting
Isn't someone being de-aged with cgi? I can't imagine that working well
Jesus christ, imagine being so fucking stupid that you're unable to comprehend catholic kino just because it doesn't present happy easy situations revolving around faith
I read the book last month. I'm assuming this is when the two priests are drowned, correct?
Jesuits are literally the worst among us
De Niro, Pacino and Pesci are all getting de-aged in The Irishman.
Based. Fuck Jesuits and FUCK Pope Francis.
>DUDE DRUGS LMAO
>Apostasy
>Catholic kino
Pull out where in the Cathechism it says Catholics can commit apostasy to save their life.
Catholic kino is something like Calvary where the priest is persecuted and faithful until death.
Silence advocates apostasy by falsely promising that it will be forgiven. That is the worst sort of heresy. That is preaching something not just in direct defiance of the church but something that, should some poor fools take it to heart, could quite literally condemn them to the lake of fire.
If Scorsese never repents this film he will be damned. No question.
Needs actual actors again. Silence was good.
De niro, pachinko, pechi, all these literal faggots cannot fucking act. Theyre broke, old and fucking ugly.
If I see de niro Im going to fucking shoot him.
He's a HOMO.
He improvised the dick grab in that movie. You know the one. Where he has his little babydick out. Fucking FAGGOT.
The funny part is it does present an easy situation. As half a world away, Spanish Inquisition.
Silence was alright but I thought it was definitely a lot longer than it needed to be.
at the very end its shown they didn't even take their conversion seriously and remained secretly christian the whole time they were working to repress other christians
>be Japanese warlord
>be at war with dozens of other warlords
>these white niggas got guns but will only trade if you get the peasants to say some dumb shit
>inform your peasants they need to say this dumb shit and they’ll go to paladisu
>get guns
>lose
>now unified government views Jesuits as politically subversive and Christianity as political subversion and the pope as a foreign king seeking to subvert the rulership of your country
>do the same shit literally every non-papist ruler has done for the whole of history
>500 years later, Catholics are still crying about what you did, but everyone else is cool.
Silence is basically Methodism > Catholicism the movie. While the priest was an apostate he continued to live his life by Christian principles and didn't stop believing (even when he said he did.) It's very much the absolute worst part of protestant Methodism (that doing good works is more important than adhering to dogma past the point of heresy) displayed against the absolute worst part of Catholicism (the church kept sending guys into this moral meatgrinder because the trade made too many faithful too much money back home). It's kino but I've watched the thing three times and I still can't call it "pro-Christian" or "anti-Christian." It's schizophrenic.
Literally too stupid to understand a basic concept of a difficult situation.
Also
>by falsely promising that it will be forgiven
This never happens. The characters come to their own conclusions through their own experiences. If you're unable to understand that a character's view doesn't represent the view of the author or the view that's "right" then you're mentally undeveloped
I can't believe I'm defending this but Samuel L looked fine in Captain Marvel because they had tons of his old films to use as a reference and these guys do to
Your very avocation of a personal truth over the word of gods betrays the protestant thinking that so thoroughly infects the west via America.
That you consider me ignorant rather than dismissive of such lunacy is ironic.
Wrong desu
Are you mentally retarded? Honest question.
a. I never did what you think I did.
b. You're using the word "avocation" wrong in an attempt to sound smart (something that idiots who are insecure do)
IMAGINE thinking Scorsese ever needed redemption
>Your very avocation of a personal truth over the word of gods betrays the protestant thinking that so thoroughly infects the west via America.
This entire sentence is such a clusterfuck that I can only assume you're pic related
>DUDE MONEY-LAUNDERING LMAO
>500 years later, Catholics are still crying about what you did, but everyone else is cool.
not everyone else
Literally Goodfellas 2
What's your point, how is telling the story of a priest who fails his faith anti-theist? Especially when there is another priest who dies a martyr?
Don't you mean Goodfellas 4?
(not that that's a bad thing)
The first time I'd ever seen a digital actor in a film was in 1995 in an episode of Tales From The Crypt directed by Bob Zemeckis. It starred a prime Humphrey Bogart and at the time was very convincing. I was blown away.
So I'm sure they'll do a decent job with these guys now.
it's gonna be back to the usual gangster schlock because that gets the studio execs the money they lost on this film
Theists acting like feminist culture critics. Classic.
>Dredd
Normies hated Dredd 2012 though.
>lose
Huh? But the Tokugawa shogunate was a direct successor to Nobunaga. And the persecution of Christians started before it was even formed, under Hideyoshi's rule, and that's because he was a fucking up-jumped country yokel who was traditionally raised.
okay. now tell us what does that have to do with actual filmmaking merits?
