PICKLE RICK IS IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT
EVERYBODY JUST HAVE A GOOD TIME
they need to hire more writers to generate ideas
you can’t polish up a script if there’s nothing to base it on
Has a fanbase ever done as much damage to a show
Because in a year and a half they couldn't shit out 6 hours worth of content to fill a season. They are running out of ideas and the next season will put this shitshow out of its' misery. Mortyyyyy.
Has a show ever attracted a worse fanbase?
The writers damaged the show by writing terrible episodes. The first ten are still really good though, but compare that to the venture bros where every season is fantastic it makes them look like some punk bitches
Season 3 was largely trash
None of the normalshits I know even cares about this show anymore after the last season. Plus didn't one of the head writers get #MeToo'd?
This picture came from reddit, I would bet every cent I have.
Trekkies for sure not even a contest
I'm glad venture bros is still fairly niche even after all these years. They don't rush it and you don't have to deal with a massive retarded fanbase that they have to water everything down for.
back fat bulges out so far I thought those were tits at first glance
>anger is a gift
What does that even mean?
It hasn't been renewed for some reason. Season 3 is shit and the fanbase has killed it with their faggotry so my personal assumption is Turner are letting it cool off for awhile.
Also you people fucking retards and nothing you like is good, especially none of the shit you cling to out of contrarianism
Incorrect. Only the first nine were good.
It was renewed for 7 (SEVEN) more seasons you drooling mongoloid
stfu
>season 2 ends with rick imprisoned by the evil galactic empire
>season 3 starts with the netflix logo
oh ok
I remember Justin Roiland (who I hate) saying on Twitter that Turner Broadcasting had not renewed it and that his obsessive fucking retard fans should take it up with them but this was quite awhile ago
What do you like?
I've never watched Rick and Morty but knowing what happened to Community (another Dan Harmon property) I'm going to agree. The first season was great then everything starts to fall apart because the writers lean to much into the fans and basically start outsourcing the plots to Reddit.
If you're asking for an animated comedy I thought was very funny it's Sealab 2021. But I also like Rick and Morty and think it's unironically good and that the contrarian retards here trying to distance themselves from the embarrassing fanbase by using Xavier are insufferable. It's a 110 IQ take.
Not a show but fallout New Vegas is the only piece of media with a worse fanbase than Rick and Morty
Fuck off, Todd, I am not going to buy Fallout 76 Deluxe Edition
Hopefully but I doubt It since they go renewed for 90 episodes
Many shows have worse fanbases surprisingly. Steven Universe springs to mind. So does MLP.
Well done you just proved his point
The writers damaged it more.
>50 Atoms™ have been deposited into your Bethesda Creation Club account.
but that was good though. rick is an insufferable narcissist and a male power fantasy caricature for teenage boys to aspire to. how could you not want someone to beat him at least once? even from a writing standpoint, he's a gary stu in that he's the smartest person in the universe and can do whatever the fuck he wants and win because he's the main character. a bit of fallibility that isn't just him self-flagellating to gain the audience's sympathy is good.
WTF are you on about , community was great for 3 seasons , the two best episodes are in season 2 and 3 , it only went downhill when dan got fired.
Bronies
Literally MLP. They made it mildly adult friendly so parents wouldn’t commit suicide when their kids wanted to watch it for 9 hours straight and autists took it to a level unseen by society until then.
Which one of the creators' girlfriend became a porn star?
Rage against the machine song
this 100%
The writers committed fucking sepuku. The show had so many places to go from some actually pretty good cliffhangers like "Evil Morty" and Tammy Killing Birdman and Turning on Rick.
WE WERE DENIED. SHAME ON THEM.
rage against the machine lyrics
But therapists are the same thing but for women. They all think they're God and they try to prove you wrong on the most mundane things forgetting that client pay for therapy to get fixed and not get shat on and add more problems on top of what they already have. It's ok when Morty shits on Rick because he genuinely wants the world to be a better place, it's not a power trip as much as the therapist.
How can you run out of ideas? the setting is limitless...
The episode that made me realize it was trash was the cuckolding episode.
lmao I remember last year when this lived in incel's heads rent free and they blamed it for everything
I guess it's been replaced by "discord trannies" now
*Dilates*
>I like the show, but the fanbase is cancer
You guys do realize you're part of the fanbase if you like the show, right?
This is the same episode with no jokes and is about feelings and shitting on the main character.
>fire half your male writers
>replace them with this
COPE
Are you trying to pass off that terrible Photoshop job as something that was actually written on the whiteboard?
This. I feel for the creators who watched a community of dengeracy evolve around a show for little girls
Do you not understand that someone has highlighted it with contrast or are you this underage?
Show me the original video and I might come close to believing you
>spoonfeed me when its right there
nah
I've been rewatching it and the first season is so subdued and nuanced compared to the rest of the show. The John Hughes influence is what ties it all together and they warped the show by leaning on high concepts as they went on. There's a huge decline throughout season 3 as the concepts start to completely overtake the show and the characters get stuck. They had a great structure laid out with Jeff's four year degree but they were way too ambitious in the end.
So it was a Photoshop job. Try harder next time, moron
you cant disprove it you dont have the video :^)
I don't have to disprove anything. Anyone who's dumb enough to fall for your pic is beyond salvation.
Community.
Dan Harmon is an idiot who is too willing to pander.
seethed
SEETHING
I still need a pickle rick sticker for my laptop.
>pickle rick is the highlight of her writing career
please tell me that's fake
The actual fuck. Im genuinely angry now. Fuck You Dan Harmon you sack of shit.
This.
I remember it getting shit reviews at the time, but the show was great when they were figuring out the characters and had the goofy class-of-the-week setup.
The first paintball episode attracted the reddit crowd and ultimately ruined everything since the rest of the show just became "how can we top the paintball episode?"
Berserk vibe.
what a little fag
Ho can you say season 2 is worse than season 1 whn it has the abed fucking christmas episode that was peak community.
season 3 has remideal chaos theory for god's sake.
This looks like a group of people who would walk around shouting PICKLE RICK HAHAHA PICKLE RICK HAHAHA GET IT ITS RICK BUT AS A PICKLE HAHAHAHA HOPEFULLY MY EPISODES ARE AS CLASSIC AS THAT
Have you ever sucked a dick sweeter than Todd Howard's?
Yeah the paintball was clearly a negative influence considering that abysmal season 4 finale, but it was out of Harmon's hands at that point anyway. I wish they had the foresight to follow their own themes closer than they did. Season 1 was the introduction to the school, season 2 they intertwined in each other's lives, season 3 they learned each other's dark sides and season 4 they could have come to terms with leaving the school and finding something more. Instead it ambled on for way too long trying to top itself as you described.
A few stand-out episodes don't change the influx of weaker ones, especially the bizarre Chang takeover arc. Remedial Chaos Theory is a fantastic episode but taking the 'dark timeline' seriously was a huge mistake that took them a long time to shake off.
They only took it seriously in season 4 , wich was a fucked up mess.
here's the first five episodes of season 2 :
"Anthropology 101''
"Accounting for Lawyers"
"The Psychology of Letting Go"
"Basic Rocket Science"
"Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples"
there a clearly more than a few stand out episodes it's the season that had ''cooperative calligraphy'' for god sake.
I'm starting to worry they're running out of gas though. The Oedipal stuff from last season was heavy to the point of being unsustainable.
t. Todd Howard
You're the redditor attracted by the paintball episode I was talking about.
Those two episodes were good, but the "average" episode in those seasons was shit. Especially S3 which was completely and totally off the rails by the end.
I am not really sure what you are referring to.
>white man
>Sanchez
I know a lot of people agree that season 2 is the best of the show, but all I was saying is that season 1 was a more nuanced show than what followed. I'm not a big fan of Cooperative Calligraphy at all because I feel like the only thing more heavy handed than a standard bottle episode is having the characters know it's happening. I was mainly talking about season 3 when I was talking about the stand-outs not making up for the whole package.
Steven Universe fanbase takes a show that is generally pretty good and makes it hard to even get into because of it.
MLP fanbase are furry/pedos.
There's a 4th season?
Try all you might but you'll never forget it.
>2 threads about R&M in one morning
I sense shilling, they must be dropping a trailer soon
Just checked and it has just been teased, what the fuck are you talking about?
Recently too, so the fag who posted it was on reddit.
reddit.com
Follow the thread damn it.
The therapist wasn't even right, she was just insufferable and domineering
Well at least they look like the fanbase
I'd rather hear something like that from Morty who actually knows Rick and represents his fallibility. The therapist wouldn't incite so much criticism if she somehow earned the right to have the last word rather than being automatically correct and all-knowing, even if that was the intended joke.
>The therapist wasn't even right
She literally put into words all the anti-nihilism people on Yea Forums were vomiting against the show.
tag yourself bros. im the one with a dollop of cotton candy on my head
She literally argued like a woman, user
>What is Spain
>What is Europe
More like the first zero were good
This show was always trash, and if you disagree you are 100% a r*ddit tourist
Todd if you make good games people will buy them. You do not have a complicated industry to manage.
>don't make me do this next time
Such a fucking faggot, jesus christ
you're trying too hard to fit in, kid
Problem was the therapist wasn't any better a snug cunt than Rick. The episode did nothing to set it up, which would be fine for a joke but they played it straight instead as some kind of grand revelation. Rick also suffered absolutely nothing as a result of the therapy, makeing any catharsis fleeing and pointless.
Now the beatdown by Evil Jerry, that shit was cathartic, fucking butlering of leddit.
You are out of your mind if you think "standout episodes but the average ones are shit" applies to season 2.
Season 2 is mostly back-to-back standouts that perfectly toe the line between wacky parody theme episodes and well-worked character drama, there's a lot of S1 traces aswell with a pretty good range of low-key episodes.
But yes you are correct if you're talking about s3.
This guy fucks and is kinda based. Season 1 is the perfect package of highschool drama (fucking love square for christ's sakes) with it's own internal wholesomeness that's rather bittersweet and realistic, Ludwig's score ties it all together and even if the show doesn't have all of its identity set in yet, it understands it's a show about broken people fixing themselves with each other.
The only problem for me it's that it's a bit clunky, it takes 8 or 9 episodes to really get going, and it's when the show is trying to find its footing, it's exciting and kinda clunky at the same time. It's why I consider s2 the overral better one.
And also reminder that in S1 Britta had an actual character and wasn't a gimmick, I'll unironically never forgive the man for what he did to her
what does this even mean
you argue like a faggot
Women argue through atrition rather than logic
>flat brim
Shiggy
>generally pretty good
So many graphic tees
Female writers
sneed
Uhhh..
Have you watched the show? The first episode involves Rick shoving some alien shit up Morty's ass to smuggle it past authorities and a couple episodes later Morty kills a pedophile jelly bean that was trying to rape him. This show has been edgy try hard shit from the beginning and got exactly the audience they asked for
but why did they fire half the writers??
I'm going to go out and buy a gun and I'm going to shoot myself in the head.
Sean Connery was right, Rick should have slapped the shit out of her.
Is kumail naji-whatever a writer for rick and morty? I didn't know that
that is how everyone argues
you're at the hub of it
>WE WERE DENIED
>implying the show is over
There are good episodes and bad episodes like every show, but for an adult cartoon it’s overall pretty good
The Reddit fan base is cringe af and the retards on Yea Forums pick apart every detail to try and discredit rick from actually being smart
Obviously rick is only as smart as the show’s writers but it doesn’t fucking matter because it’s a fucking cartoon
Get over it
he's talking about mlp you tard
more female writers would help the show a lot
other than Pickle Rick and the MadMax eps, Season 3 was by far the best
it won an Emmy. So yea...
This
Insane how fucking wrong a person can be.
Vindicators 2 was pretty gr8 dude
show is ending, it has 1 season and 2 specials left, they tried wrapping a lot up last season
Say what you want about rick and morty but this episode in particular was fucking Kino
the episode is stupid and doesn't make any sense if you think about it for more than thirty seconds.
Fuck you todd
Basically, season 3 was a several episode long character study for literally everyone and rather than having fun, interesting plots that are actually character driven (Rick visits the universe he created to power his hovercar, Morty frees an alien captive that wants to destroy his universe and despite all the sacrifices and death ends up having to kill him making it all for nothing, Rick Potion in its entirety) and instead made episodes that are just about the characters with the actual scifi concepts being entirely secondary. The fact that Rick, Summer, and Morty end up in Mad Max world is just a framing device for Morty and Summer to complain about their parents' divorce. It leaves nothing to the imagination or anything to inference. Morty beats a man to death while literally spelling out his daddy issues for the audience. We can't just KNOW Morty is upset and coping. Season 3, and to a lesser extent 2, had serious issues with subtlety.
Bane?
even as a meme that shit is unsettling
i really wanted to see that needle monster bang caska, but bird monster is fine too.
fuck off
fuck you flat brims are the modern fedora. In a good way.
>Seriously replying to a shitty bait post
this board is fucking shit now why do i still come here
The overarching plot wankery is what makes the show shit in the first place, moron. The shows works best in its original format: an episodic parody reel of various sci-fi movies with a twist on each of them, interspersed with absurd family drama to put it in perspective. I literally once had a guy try to explain to me that every episode that didn't deal with the Evil Morty plotline (two episodes in total) is technically filler because that's the "main plot" of the show.
When tumblr tried to drive a Steven Universe fan to suicide.
he's right though, episodic shows are only worthwhile if they're funny, and since R&M has the comedic charm of the avergae cartoon network show , the evil morty overarching plot is the only thing worthwhile in the show.
Did you forget about MLP
But Steven universe is utter iredeemable garbage , it's not evan worth talking about.
>Season 3 was largely trash
Remind me, when did they hire all them diversity hires again?
>t. Pic Related
MLP is unironically a comfy as fuck show, it's also anti-commie so it gets a based from me.
But MLP is utter garbage meme of a show , the fans are being ironic.
Pleb
I thought mlp was a childrens cartoon which attracted stunted adults who have probably been molested.
Its not actually a serious show is it?
Pleb
It attracts the same demographic as moe anime except MLP fans also want to fuck horses.
Steven Universe,MLP and Adventure Time
i didnt know that either. i thought i recognized his voice on the conference call over pirates of the pancreas though
*tips fedora*
*adjusts pony buttplug*
V for Vendetta's credibility was utterly butchered by its fanbase thanks to its stupid meme mask and "Anonymous".
I cannot remember a strongest example of how a large, mainstream audience drove the level of a decent work to the ground this much. Nowadays, "V for Vendetta" has literally a deterrent as a fanbase.
You could also mention MLP, Adventure Time, Community, Steven Universe...
Anything that adults who pretend growing up isn't cool and not for them, and their newest mental trauma is some hot serious social issue they need to shed a light on because they're keyboard activists - anything those people watch (very often children cartoons which they turn into young adult obsessions) becomes cancer because of them.
We have a massive Peter Pan Syndrome problem that emerged with internet culture where everyone finds it quirky, cool and unique to pretend "growing up is a scam xDDD" and suffering from social anxiety is because of boomers and capitalism, and is in any way unique.
It's not unique, it's just that anyone past 25 who refuses to embrace adulthood is stuck in inadequacy and no matter how hard that person pretends it is both a choice and not their fault, a part of their brain knows they should embrace it instead of delay it.
>Rewatch season 3 with gf
>It's actually pretty funny, nowhere near as bad as I remember
Later virgins
this
Harmon doesn't know how to keep a show going with new ideas and how to carry a story arc. He's half trying to go for the show of the week vibe you got from Family guy and Simpsons, and half trying to carry the story between episodes.
when it first started, I think episode 3, it was hinted that these were always a different universe, but it quickly because that these were always the same rick and morty. season 2 finale was the peak, season 3 premiere (that came out 3 months before the rest of the show, and focused on McDonalds chicken sauce) was the shark jumping moment.
Good riddance, degenerated shit.
Spain was a caliphate for what, 800 years? Let's not get into what europe is today
diversity hire eps were pickle rick and the madmax one. Ricklantis Mixup and Morty's Mind Blowers is better than anything the other 2 seasons
Good post
Pure Art
Why does Dan Harmon suck so much? Community got fucked. This got fucked. Does he still do Cougartown? Does he still do his podcast?
>anger is a butt
I'm not surprised in the slightest yet this still upsets me
its funny because even in this thread there are the very same type of people who made the fanbase terrible to begin with, and now they're talking about the rest of the fanbase like they themselves are not a part of the problem
self awareness truly is a rare gift
Dude million ants man has a MILLION ANTS HAHAHAHAHAHA AND THE TRAIN GUY WAS EPIC AND RICK WAS THE VILLAIN ALL ALONG BEST EPISODE EVERRRRR
mlp is actually pretty good. The fans are cancer though.
>a childrens show about magical ponies and the value of friendship is actually pretty good
I truly hate what this board has become.
My autism is so strong I just make the ponies horseys so its cooler
Even with the fanbase being what it is, the cucked shit, and pseud-intellectual references, season 1 and 2 were enjoyable. Season 3 was horrendous. The most telling part is that you can objectively watch the season, decide for yourself what were the absolute worst episodes, and look up the writers - you can already figure out what you will see. Easy and independently verifiable answer to why it was such trash.
what about this show struck such a cord with international onions?
Get help and seek God.
Should've just been a wacky meme show, went full cringe as soon as they tried to be serious
I think Yea Forumss obsession with this show is cringier than any one moment of the show.
sometimes its preachy, but for the most part its pretty funny.
Was it? It was a standard "inter-related stories" episode and one that wasn't particularly notable with a lot of incredibly obvious "twists". Not that it was outright bad, but I wouldn't have said it was even as good as the first episode of the third season.
I don't know, I think people tend to fawn over non-conventional episode formats and praise them when they aren't particularly strong.
The problem is that this is already implied about rick’s character (only brainlets actually aspire to be like rick and miss that even though he literally IS one of the smartest beings in the universe he’s still a miserable cunt), but the therapist’s monologue was an obvious and unsubtle summary of his entire character, which isn’t particularly funny or interesting
What happened was that Season 3 ruined Ricks character (And some others too). Part of what makes the premise work in seasons 1-2 is that despite being a genius Rick is a complete screw-up constantly trying not to get killed by disasters of his own making. Season 3 Rick on the other hand is always right, never fails, is threatened by no-one, and is omnipotent. Season 3 also has an especially mean spirited character assassination of Jerry. When in season one the gag is he's some normal everyday doofus caught up in these wacky sic-fi stories, he's now apparently the most pathetic morally repugnant person alive. Despite the fact him standing up when it counts being a defining part of his character in multiple season 1-2 episodes. All of this so once again Rick can look more "badass" in comparison.
If only Todd could make a game that gets as much discussion as FONV does on release let alone 10 years after it came out
I thought it said Sneed
That was my first thought as well

When you think the layers of cringe can't get any deeper, jej
Yes I can't wait for Fallout 3: Remastered!
That was based on a piece of art wasn't it?
i don't care what your rationale is, the therapist scene was cringe as fuck and ruined the episode
Dr Who
The show is cheap, gimmicky and the epitome of “dude I love science” that sjw types seem to thirst for just to signal to others that they do in fact love science
Its just a millennial show made for millennials.
What did you expect?
I remember during it's initial run, and this show was a word of mouth gem between my friends and I, we had inside jokes, but that was it.
Never thought it was just slowly become such a cancerous tumor of a franchise, have a coworker who still references the show, and I wince every time he does.
Idk I think the show is cool and i'd like a 4th season
No reason to hate it desu
IM NIGGER RIIIIIICK
liking something =/= being part of the fanbase
there;s several levels of that
you can like a property, watch it, and just enjoy it, maybe share a meme or image macro based on it
you can be a fan, maybe buy a t shirt or a funko pop, maybe a sticker, you talk about it with your friends and that's about it
then there's being a fandomfag, you make fanart, fanfic, you unironically take fan theories seriously, you admin or R+M page, you wait in line to get some szechuan sauce, you yell Wubba Lubaa Dub in public, you believe you are Rick, you have no persoanlity outside of being a fan of the show
Kill yourself zoomer
While I agree with you, what do you specifically mean by growing up?
What I find mind boggling is it seems like a lot of these people have jobs and even in some cases girlfriends/wives/children.
Good joke.
Nobody wants to grow up
Season 3 finale and some garbo episodes absolutely killed the hype of the show. Too bad to be quite honest. I actually liked the first episode of the third season.
literally no
Easy: Star Trek, Star Wars.
Naruto. Does weeb shit count?
People would want to grow up if it got you anything. These days growing up means you get to be a wageslave and have your children brainwashed to hate you. Decades ago that wasn't the case, and people grew up.
I've never heard this opinion before
whiteknight faggot
>While I agree with you, what do you specifically mean by growing up?
Embracing responsibilities.
Embracing the fact that you are the maker of your own life and destiny, and that's it's hard, but rewarding to be in control. Reject escapism as a default may of life (everybody needs to unwind every few days but people seem to believe living your life through media consumption is the default mode).
Accepting to what you think is "deep" in the pop culture you consume might not be this deep if so many people have seen it - have you never seen these endless tumblr/twitter overanalysis about seemingly little details in TV shows or book extracts ? They all wank their brains off of figuring out what is basically simple good writing/acting as if it were strokes of genius from God itself.
Also accepting that it may be time to tune down your latest obsession - be it a show, a book, a game, a new mental health disorder, a new social injustice - just fucking stop pretending and showing off. People are not as interesting as they think they are, nor are they as invested as they think they are (being a keyboard warrior is piss easy and meaningless). I'm only 29 and people my age have had their narcissism catered to since the MySpace/Skyblog era and it's turned them into empty shallow shells that desperately want to be validated for the deep individuals they think they are, yet they keep on exposing all the time everything that they are, without any mystery left to just about how average they are.
It also means embracing that not everything in life is rewarding or perfect, and neither are you.
And it also means "growing out" of some things, like pretending to be shitfaced or high is always cool, blowing out of proportions tiny irritations is valid, pretending to be more badass than they are, or that still obsessing over kids' cartoons is healthy.
Fuck me, I even hate myself for this jaded, fully autistic, pathetic rant. I just simply fucking hate social media culture.
I dont think it should be legal to remove stupid tattoos
